The Ninja SLUSHi Twist FS701 is most compelling if you want two frozen drinks ready at the same time—say, a cocktail and a mocktail. Its two independently processed vessels make that easier than making repeated blender batches, but the machine is heavy, takes up substantial counter space, and requires recipes with the right balance of sugar and alcohol. It is harder to justify if you usually serve just one flavor.
What the SLUSHi Twist does differently
The FS701 has two vessels with independent Dual SlushAssist processing and a shared twist dispensing feature. You can prepare two drinks separately or dispense them together. That dual-vessel setup—not a promise of perfectly defined, soft-serve-style ribbons—is the main reason to choose it.
SharkNinja announced the Twist on May 19, 2026. The company’s official FS701 product page lists 14 temperature settings and no preset programs. SharkNinja also says it slushes faster than the original SLUSHi FS301; that is a manufacturer comparison, not an independently measured speed result.

Capacity, servings, and price
Each vessel holds 72 oz in total, but its maximum liquid fill is 48 oz. These figures describe different things: the vessel’s total size is not the amount of liquid to pour in. SharkNinja says each side can make 10 or more servings per batch, using a 9 oz serving as its basis.

The package listed by SharkNinja includes the motor base with WhisperChill compressor, two vessels and dispense handles, two auger systems, two condensation catches, and a three-piece drip tray.
How well does it work in practice?
In Sal Vaglica’s hands-on review for The Guardian, published August 20, 2026, the machine weighed about 35 lb and measured roughly 17.5 × 12 × 16 inches. Those dimensions and weight make counter placement and storage meaningful considerations, not afterthoughts.

Vaglica reported that a cold 16 oz batch could finish in about 20 minutes, while a warm 48 oz batch could take up to an hour. These are reviewer observations, not guaranteed cycle times; starting temperature, volume, and recipe affect the wait. Ninja Test Kitchen’s Witches Brew Slushi Twist recipe gives separate estimates for that recipe: under 20 minutes for two servings, under 35 minutes for four, and under 40 minutes for six. Its two different mixtures illustrate the intended workflow, but those times should not be generalized to other drinks.

The more practical benefit was keeping multiple drinks available for guests without repeatedly blending new batches. Treat the twist feature as a way to combine or dispense drinks, not as a guarantee of a precise visual swirl.

What can you put in it?
Not every liquid will freeze into a slush. Sugar and alcohol change how a mixture freezes, so a recipe’s proportions matter. The Guardian review reports that a vessel needs at least 16 oz and cites a minimum sugar level of 4.5% by weight. It also relays Ninja’s suggestion of four tablespoons of simple syrup for an unsweetened 16 oz liquid batch. Because recipe-level instructions should be checked against the FS701 owner’s guide, use a tested recipe rather than treating those figures as universal directions for every mixture.
The official product page specifies cocktails containing up to 20% alcohol. That is a stated upper limit, not a guarantee that every drink at or below that level will freeze as intended. The Guardian reviewer says the machine may prompt for adjustments when sugar or alcohol levels interfere with freezing.

For a concrete two-drink example, Ninja Test Kitchen’s Witches Brew pairs a Charcoal Citrus mixture of orange juice, honey, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and water with a Hibiscus Hex mixture of grapefruit citrus soda and hibiscus simple syrup. The recipe directs users to select Dual SlushAssist and adjust temperature as needed.

The Twist makes sense if
- You regularly serve groups and want two drinks available at once.
- You want to offer different options, such as an alcoholic drink and a mocktail, without preparing each batch one after another.
- You have room for a roughly 35 lb appliance and are willing to follow recipes and adjust settings.
A single-vessel SLUSHi may suit you better if
- You normally make one flavor at a time, so the second vessel would see little use.
- You value a smaller, lighter, or lower-priced setup more than simultaneous drinks.
- You would rather make batches in sequence than devote space to two drink chambers.
The Guardian reviewer notes that a lower-priced single-vessel model may be sufficient for serving one flavor at a time. Compare the exact models’ usable capacity, controls, footprint, storage, cleanup, and current prices before deciding; specifications differ across the SLUSHi range.
Verdict
The Ninja SLUSHi Twist is a specialized party appliance, not an automatic upgrade for everyone who wants frozen drinks. Its two independently processed batches address a real hosting need, but the weight, space, recipe constraints, and approximately $399.99 US listed price make that benefit expensive if one flavor at a time is enough. Buy it for the two-drink workflow; otherwise, start by comparing single-vessel options.
