FastFlowLM’s documented support includes the Ryzen AI processor family used in the Minisforum N5 Pro, so the hardware appears to match the project’s stated compatibility scope. That is not proof of a tested N5 Pro setup: the available product and project documentation do not report a hands-on installation or performance test on this NAS.
What the N5 Pro’s NPU and FastFlowLM support mean
MINISFORUM lists the N5 Pro with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 processor and an integrated NPU rated up to 50 TOPS. FastFlowLM describes itself as an LLM runtime for AMD Ryzen AI NPUs and says it supports XDNA2 processors including the Strix Point family. The listed processor and the project’s stated family support align, but that establishes a family-level compatibility basis—not certification of every BIOS, operating system, driver, container, or NAS configuration.
The 50 TOPS figure is a manufacturer specification, not a FastFlowLM benchmark. MINISFORUM says the NPU can support local AI workloads and reduce CPU/GPU load; treat that as a product-page claim, not an independently measured result. The reviewed sources do not establish how quickly a particular model will run on the N5 Pro, how it compares with the machine’s CPU or Radeon GPU, or whether every model works.

Setup depends on the operating system. FastFlowLM documentation is version-sensitive; check the live project instructions and Linux guide before installing.

Windows
The project instructions specify an AMD NPU driver version 32.0.203.311 or later. The README describes a command-line workflow, including running a model with flm run <model>, and a REST API compatible with the OpenAI API. Model or kernel downloads may require an internet connection. These instructions describe the software workflow; they do not confirm that the N5 Pro has been tested with it.
Linux
The Linux guide, dated March 5, 2026, calls for an XDNA2 NPU, NPU firmware version 1.1.0.0 or later, kernel 7.0 or later with either amdxdna or amdxdna-dkms, the XRT stack, and a sufficient memlock limit. It lists Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Ubuntu 25.10, Ubuntu 26.04, Arch Linux, and a generic Linux path. These are guide requirements, not confirmation that every N5 Pro NAS software image includes the necessary stack or installs it automatically.

Keep inference configuration separate from NAS storage
FastFlowLM’s NPU runtime requirements are distinct from the N5 Pro’s storage choices. MINISFORUM lists five 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA 3.0 bays, M.2 NVMe slots, and support for up to two U.2 NVMe drives through an included M.2-to-U.2 adapter. The adapter occupies SSD slots 2 and 3, so the listed M.2 and U.2 options involve a slot trade-off rather than an assurance that every drive type can be installed at once.
The product page also lists two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots with ECC support and memory capacity up to 96 GB. Those are manufacturer specifications; the sources do not establish a particular memory or storage configuration as necessary for FastFlowLM. MINISFORUM also describes Docker deployment, backup and synchronization, and media use cases, but those descriptions are not independent tests of those functions.
