Yes. The ASUS ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 can charge a compatible ROG Xbox Ally while the handheld is connected to a TV and USB peripherals. ASUS rates the dock for up to 80W of charging over its USB-C connection. To reach that maximum, ASUS recommends supplying the dock with a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated at 100W or more. The charger is sold separately.

Quick answer

The DG310 supports simultaneous play, display output, peripherals, and charging for compatible ROG Xbox Ally devices. ASUS’s official FAQ, updated September 14, 2026, says the dock delivers up to 80W over its USB-C cable so the device keeps charging while connected to a TV and peripherals.

There are two important qualifications:

  • The 80W figure is the dock’s maximum rated charging output, not a promise that the battery will gain charge during every game or performance mode.
  • The dock does not include a power adapter. ASUS recommends a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger to provide enough input for the dock to reach its full rated output.

In normal use, the dock takes power from the separate USB-C charger, sends up to 80W to the Ally, and powers its display, USB, and Ethernet functions at the same time.

How charging works through the DG310

One USB-C connection carries the Ally’s power and data

The dock is designed to connect to the handheld with one USB-C cable. That connection can carry charging power, video through DisplayPort Alt Mode, and data for the dock’s USB and Ethernet ports, provided the Ally supports both USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery.

The practical arrangement is:

  1. Place the Xbox Ally in the dock’s built-in stand.
  2. Connect a USB-C PD charger to the dock’s USB-C power input.
  3. Connect the dock to the Ally with its USB-C host cable.
  4. Attach the HDMI display and any USB or Ethernet accessories.
  5. Start the game and watch the operating system’s charging indicator and battery percentage.

Power should be connected to the dock rather than directly to the handheld when you want the dock’s display, USB, and network functions available through the same setup.

Why ASUS recommends a 100W charger

The dock accepts up to 100W through its USB-C power input, while its maximum charging output to the Ally is up to 80W. The difference gives the dock power for conversion losses and its connected hardware, including the HDMI circuitry, USB ports, Ethernet controller, and attached accessories.

A charger rated below 100W may still be usable, but ASUS’s stated recommendation for reaching the full 80W output is a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated at 100W or higher. The charger must be purchased separately because it is not included with the DG310.

Will it keep charging while gaming or in Turbo mode?

Gaming while connected

Yes, simultaneous charging while gaming is the capability ASUS explicitly describes. The dock is intended to keep the Ally powered while it is connected to a television and peripherals, rather than forcing you to choose between a desktop-style setup and battery operation.

That statement confirms power delivery, but it does not establish a guaranteed battery increase under every workload. The Ally, display, and connected accessories draw power, and the game’s performance mode affects how much power the handheld itself consumes.

What the 80W rating does and does not tell you

“Up to 80W” describes the maximum power the dock can deliver under its rated conditions. It is not the same as saying that every game will add charge to the battery at 80W. If the handheld’s instantaneous demand is close to or above the available power, the battery may charge slowly, hold its level, or decline while the system remains connected.

ASUS’s published material does not provide independent measurements for every game, battery state, thermal condition, or performance mode. It also does not publish a Turbo-mode battery-gain guarantee for the DG310. Therefore, the defensible answer to “Does it keep charging in Turbo mode?” is that the dock can continue supplying its rated power while Turbo mode is active, but the battery result depends on the workload and operating conditions.

To check your own setup, begin with a fully charged or known battery level, run the same game for a sustained period, and observe the percentage rather than relying only on the charging icon. A falling percentage does not automatically indicate a faulty dock; it can mean the game is consuming more power than the handheld is receiving at that moment.

Compatibility with Xbox Ally models

The DG310 is designed for the ROG Xbox Ally family and is intended to work with devices that support USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. Its built-in stand is shaped for the following models:

Model Generation identified by ASUS Physical stand fit
ROG Xbox Ally 2025 Designed for the device
ROG Xbox Ally X 2025 Designed for the device
ROG Xbox Ally X20 2026 Designed for the device

Compatibility has two parts. The stand must physically support the handheld, and the handheld’s USB-C port must support the required video and power standards. A device that fits mechanically but lacks DisplayPort Alt Mode will not produce video through the dock. A device that supports video but lacks the required USB Power Delivery behavior may not receive the intended charging function.

Cases, grips, and thick screen protectors can also prevent a handheld from seating fully in a shaped stand. If the plug does not reach the port without force, remove the case or use a setup that leaves the connector straight and fully inserted.

Ports and display features

The DG310 is a six-in-one dock. Its ports are intended to turn the Ally into a single-cable desktop or living-room setup.

The HDMI figures describe the dock’s rated output capability. Whether a particular game reaches a given resolution or refresh rate depends on the Ally’s graphics performance, the game, the display, and the selected settings. The dock’s support for HDR, VRR, and ALLM means the connection can expose those features when the handheld, display, cable, and software configuration support them.

What charger and cable setup you need

Charger

Choose a USB-C charger that supports USB Power Delivery and is rated at 100W or higher. This is ASUS’s recommendation for reaching the DG310’s full 80W handheld output. A charger’s total advertised wattage is not enough by itself if it does not provide the appropriate USB-C PD output profile.

Because the adapter is not bundled, the cost and physical size of the charger are part of the complete setup. If you are moving the dock between rooms, keep the charger with it; the dock cannot deliver its rated power without an external source.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Connections

Use the dock’s USB-C power input for the charger and the dock-to-handheld USB-C connection for the Ally. Connect HDMI, USB-A devices, and Ethernet to the dock. Avoid treating the HDMI cable as a power connection: it carries the display signal, not the charging supply.

Step-by-step setup for a gaming session

  1. Confirm the handheld model. Check that you have a ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X, or ROG Xbox Ally X20 model identified for the DG310’s shaped stand.
  2. Prepare power. Use a USB-C PD charger rated at 100W or more. The charger is separate from the dock.
  3. Power the dock. Plug the charger into the DG310’s USB-C power input. Make sure the connector is fully seated.
  4. Seat the Ally. Place the handheld in the built-in stand without pressing the device or connector sideways.
  5. Connect the host cable. Attach the dock’s USB-C cable to the Ally’s compatible USB-C port.
  6. Attach the display. Connect the television or monitor to the HDMI 2.1 output. Select the matching HDMI input on the display.
  7. Add peripherals. Connect keyboards, mice, storage, controllers, or other accessories to the three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. Connect a network cable to Gigabit Ethernet if required.
  8. Verify power before launching a demanding game. Check that the operating system reports external power or charging, then start the game and monitor the battery percentage over time.

Troubleshooting charging problems

The Ally does not show that it is charging

  • Confirm that the charger is connected to the dock’s USB-C power input, not to an unrelated port.
  • Check that the charger supports USB-C Power Delivery and is rated at 100W or higher if you are aiming for the dock’s maximum output.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the dock-to-Ally USB-C cable at both ends.
  • Remove a case or accessory that prevents the plug from reaching the port completely.
  • Test with the display and USB accessories disconnected. If charging appears only with fewer accessories, the available input or connection may be marginal.

The battery still drops during a game

A battery decline during a demanding title does not prove that the dock has stopped delivering power. The 80W figure is a maximum, and the Ally’s workload can vary continuously. Confirm that the battery percentage is changing over time, then repeat the test with the same game and display configuration. If the percentage falls only during the heaviest scenes or in a high-power mode, the system may be consuming more than the delivered power at those moments.

Video works but charging does not

Video and charging use different capabilities of the USB-C connection. Confirm the PD charger and the power-input connection separately from the HDMI link. A working picture does not demonstrate that the dock is receiving adequate power from the adapter.

Charging works but the display or peripherals fail

Check the HDMI input selection, reconnect the host cable, and temporarily remove USB devices. Heavy peripheral loads can complicate diagnosis, so add accessories one at a time. For network problems, verify the Ethernet cable and test without USB devices to isolate the issue.

How to compare the DG310 with another dock

If you are evaluating a different dock for an Xbox Ally, compare the specifications that affect both charging and desktop use:

  • Delivered USB-C wattage: distinguish power delivered to the handheld from the charger’s input rating.
  • Charger inclusion: verify whether the adapter is in the box or must be purchased separately.
  • Video output: check HDMI version, maximum resolution, refresh rate, HDR, VRR, and ALLM support.
  • USB ports: count the ports and identify their speed and connector type.
  • Ethernet: confirm whether wired networking is included and whether it is Gigabit-class.
  • Physical fit: make sure the stand accommodates your exact Ally model and any case you intend to use.

The DG310’s published combination is up to 80W to the handheld, a 100W-or-higher recommended input charger, HDMI 2.1, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and a stand shaped for the 2025 and 2026 ROG Xbox Ally models.

Who the DG310 suits

It is a good match when you need

  • A permanent TV or monitor connection through HDMI 2.1.
  • Wired Ethernet for downloads, streaming, or online play.
  • Several USB-A accessories connected at the same time.
  • Charging while the Ally remains in a supported stand.
  • Up to 80W of handheld power and you already own, or plan to buy, a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger.

Set expectations before buying

  • The power adapter is not included.
  • The dock’s 80W rating is not an assurance of a net battery increase during every game or Turbo-mode workload.
  • Maximum HDMI modes depend on the Ally, game, display, cable, and software settings, not just the dock.
  • Physical fit is optimized for the listed ROG Xbox Ally models; cases and accessories can change how securely the handheld seats.

Bottom line for a gaming setup

The DG310 is a charging dock as well as a display and peripheral hub: ASUS specifies simultaneous charging for a compatible ROG Xbox Ally while it is connected to a TV and accessories. Plan around the actual requirements—an external 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger, a compatible Ally USB-C connection, and realistic expectations that 80W is a maximum rated output rather than a guaranteed battery gain in every workload.
