No—not as an interactive 360-degree photo. A July 2026 Insta360 Support reply says Instagram does not currently provide interactive 360-photo viewing. You can share a reframed, flat image or a video treatment, but viewers will not be able to drag or tilt the Instagram post to look around. If interactive viewing matters, keep the original panorama and use a destination with a documented 360-photo sharing flow.
What happens when you post a 360 photo on Instagram?
Instagram displays the image as a regular, flat post rather than a panorama that viewers can explore. Depending on how the file is exported or interpreted, a 360 image may appear stretched when opened in a viewer that does not recognize it as panoramic media. Insta360’s guidance explains that export format and the destination’s support for panoramic display affect the result: Insta360 App: Sharing Videos to Social Media Platforms.
Keeping panorama metadata or uploading the original file does not, by itself, add an interactive viewer to an Instagram post. Insta360’s July 2026 Support reply is the source for Instagram’s current limitation; Instagram may change how it handles media, so check the live app if that behavior is critical.

Choose what a viewer should see, then prepare a presentation for a standard Instagram post. Keep an untouched copy of the original 360 file in case you want to share the interactive version elsewhere.

- Make a flat reframe. Select a compelling direction and export or crop it as an ordinary image. Check that the subject and important details remain clear on a phone screen.
- Show several viewpoints in a carousel. Create separate crops or reframes from different directions and put them in a swipeable sequence. Make clear in the caption that the slides are selected views, not an interactive panorama.
- Use motion for a moving presentation. Create a short pan or orbit treatment from the panorama if movement helps convey the scene. It is a video presentation, not a 360 viewer.
- Preview before publishing. Check the post in Instagram’s composition flow and, if possible, after publishing. Confirm that the framing looks right; do not assume panorama metadata will make the post interactive.
Where can you share an interactive 360 photo?
Use a service and app flow that explicitly support 360 photos, and verify the preview before sharing. Insta360 documents a Facebook sharing workflow, but platform support differs by operating system: its guide says sharing 360 photos to Facebook is supported by its Android app, while its iOS app currently does not support that workflow. The same guide says YouTube does not support uploading 360 photos, although it accepts 360 video. See Insta360’s social-sharing guide for its current app instructions.
An Insta360 community tutorial describes adding a hosted 360-photo link to a community post and lists Insta360, VeeR VR, and Facebook as supported sources. These are options documented within the vendor’s ecosystem, not a guarantee that every service or app flow remains available; check the service and resulting preview before directing viewers there: How to Share 360 Photos.

Do you need a 360 camera?
No. If you already have a stitched panorama, you can make flat reframes, a carousel, or a motion treatment from it. Insta360’s sharing guide lists the Insta360 X5 360 camera among applicable models, but buying a camera will not enable interactive 360-photo viewing on Instagram.

There is no Instagram upload specification established here for 360 photos. Meta’s Horizon Store guidance says a monoscopic equirectangular 360 preview uses a 2:1 aspect ratio, but that is a requirement for Horizon Store preview assets—not an Instagram rule. Do not use it as evidence that a 2:1 file will become interactive on Instagram: Meta Horizon Store asset guidelines.
