Yes, but not as an unconditional personal assistant. ChatGPT can turn your preferences into a plan, search current information, find restaurant availability, and—when the right booking or cloud-browser feature is available—complete some website steps. You still need to check the live details and approve consequential actions such as confirming a reservation or paying.
Planning, finding an opening, and completing a booking are separate stages. A feature that handles one stage does not automatically manage the entire trip or reservation afterward.
What ChatGPT can do right now
Restaurant reservations in ChatGPT
ChatGPT can search for restaurants and available times using a location, date, time, party size, cuisine, budget, dietary requirements, or atmosphere. Results may include restaurants whose availability is supplied by OpenTable, Resy, or Yelp. You can select a restaurant or a Reserve option and continue through the provider’s booking flow.

The exact experience depends on the provider. Some bookings finish inside ChatGPT; others open the provider’s service. If an OpenTable or Yelp booking requires a credit card, ChatGPT sends you to OpenTable to complete that step. Resy uses its own account sign-in, so ChatGPT does not fill Resy login fields for you.

Broader website tasks with the cloud browser
ChatGPT Work’s cloud browser can operate supported websites, including sites where you sign in. It can read pages, click controls, enter information in forms, and carry out a sequence of steps. OpenAI’s documented examples include checking restaurant availability, finding flights that match stated constraints, and preparing a DMV appointment booking for your approval.
This is a supported workflow, not a guarantee that every flight, appointment, hotel, or ticket site can be completed automatically. The website must permit the browser interaction, your account must have access, and the task must expose steps the browser can perform. A site may block automated access even when it works normally in your own browser.
Planning, web search, and reminders
ChatGPT web search can retrieve current information and use approximate location for local results, including restaurants. Memory, when enabled, can retain preferences for future conversations. Scheduled tasks can issue a one-time or recurring prompt, such as reminding you to make a call or checking the web, for accounts and workspaces where that feature is enabled.

A reminder is not a reservation. A scheduled task can tell you to book a table; it does not itself hold the table or buy a ticket.
Restaurant reservation availability by provider
OpenAI’s August 10, 2026 release note says restaurant-reservation search is rolling out on mobile, web, and desktop. It lists OpenTable as available globally, Resy in the United States, and Yelp in the United States and Canada. The same release note excludes ChatGPT Work from this particular restaurant-search feature.
A separate Help Center article describes eligibility on consumer plans, while other product documentation describes rollout and surface-specific access. Therefore, availability can differ by plan, account, country, product surface, restaurant, and rollout status. Do not assume that an account that can use web search can also use the reservation interface.

These geographic statements describe the release note, not a promise that every restaurant in those regions participates or has an opening.
How to make a restaurant booking
- State the complete request. Include the neighborhood or address, date, preferred time or time range, number of diners, cuisine, budget, dietary needs, accessibility requirements, and atmosphere.
- Ask for live options. Request available times rather than relying on a general recommendation. ChatGPT may ask a follow-up question if a constraint is missing.
- Inspect the result. Check the restaurant name, address, date, time, party size, provider, seating notes, and cancellation or no-show conditions on the live booking page.
- Authorize data sharing when necessary. The flow may ask permission to share your name and email address with the provider and may fill visible, empty fields after you grant permission.
- Complete provider-specific steps. Sign in to Resy when prompted, or continue to OpenTable if a card is required. Enter payment details only on the expected provider page.
- Confirm deliberately. Review the final commitment before selecting the provider’s confirmation button. A booking confirmation or payment is a real-world action, not merely a search result.
- Save the confirmation. Keep the provider’s email and any confirmation number. Use the provider’s account or support channel for later changes.
Using ChatGPT for flights and other website bookings
For a broader task, describe the outcome and tell ChatGPT where it must stop. For example, you can ask it to find flights for fixed dates, compare the options against baggage and connection requirements, and pause before purchase. In the cloud-browser workflow, ChatGPT may open the site, read fare details, fill passenger information, and prepare the checkout page.
OpenAI says the cloud browser is designed to request confirmation before actions that create a financial or real-world commitment, such as confirming a booking or paying. Treat that prompt as a checkpoint, not as proof that every important detail is correct. Verify fare rules, passenger names, dates, airports, baggage, cancellation terms, taxes, and the payment total yourself.

Some sites require a one-time code, a payment step, a CAPTCHA, or a final button that you must handle. If the site blocks automation, ChatGPT can still help compare options and provide a link or instructions, but you must finish in your normal browser.
What ChatGPT cannot reliably promise
- Universal access: A provider, restaurant, route, appointment system, or workspace may not expose the feature to your account or region.
- Guaranteed availability: Openings can disappear while you are reviewing them, and a search result is not a held seat or table.
- Automatic completion: Sign-in, payment, identity checks, provider redirects, CAPTCHAs, or a site’s anti-automation controls can require your intervention.
- Correctness without review: ChatGPT can misunderstand a date, time zone, airport, party size, name spelling, or dietary requirement. The final provider page is the authority.
- Post-booking management: OpenAI states, “ChatGPT does not save, modify, cancel, or display existing reservations.” ChatGPT is not an ongoing reservation ledger.
- A success-rate guarantee: OpenAI’s published guidance does not provide a decision-useful statistic for the percentage of plans or bookings that ChatGPT completes successfully.

Prompt examples that produce usable results
Restaurant search
Find a table for four in [neighborhood] on [date] around [time]. Show available times for [cuisine], under [budget] per person, with [dietary or accessibility requirement]. Do not book until I confirm the exact restaurant and time.Replace each bracketed item with a real value. Flight comparison
Find flights from [origin] to [destination] for [dates]. Compare total price, airports, stops, baggage, and change rules. Use these constraints: [constraints]. - Share only the information needed for the booking. Read the provider name and domain before entering card or identity details.
- Check that the visible fields contain the correct name, email, phone number, date, time zone, party size, and passenger information.
- Read cancellation, deposit, no-show, refund, and change terms. A “Reserve” button can carry different obligations from one provider to another.
- Do not treat access permission as blanket approval. Allowing the browser to open a site does not authorize a purchase, message, cancellation, or appointment submission.
- Save the confirmation email immediately. If it does not arrive, check the provider account and contact the provider rather than assuming the booking succeeded.
Troubleshooting when a booking does not finish
No reservation feature appears
Check whether you are using a supported consumer surface, whether your account is eligible, and whether the restaurant and country fall within the stated rollout. ChatGPT Work is excluded from the restaurant-reservation search described in the August 10, 2026 release note. If the feature is unavailable, use ChatGPT for search and comparison, then open the provider yourself.
The time disappears
Availability is live and can change between search and confirmation. Run the search again, widen the time range, or choose another listed provider. Confirm the final date, time, and party size on the provider page.
The website stops the cloud browser
A normal browser session does not guarantee automated access. Finish the task manually if the site presents a block, CAPTCHA, unsupported control, or sign-in challenge. You can still ask ChatGPT to summarize the options and list the remaining steps.

Use the confirmation email or the provider’s account and support tools. ChatGPT’s documented restaurant feature does not display, modify, cancel, or retain an ongoing reservation record.
Scheduled reminders are useful, but they are not agents
If scheduled tasks are enabled for your account, create a reminder such as “Remind me tomorrow at 9 a.m. to confirm the restaurant booking.” You can also schedule a recurring web check where supported. The task sends a prompt at the chosen time; it does not hold inventory, accept a cancellation fee, enter payment details, or guarantee that a later search will find the same option.
A practical decision rule
Use ChatGPT freely for organizing constraints, comparing choices, and finding current information. Use a supported reservation flow when it exposes the exact provider and details you want. For every action that can spend money, send personal data, create a cancellation penalty, or affect another person, stop at the final review and approve it only after checking the provider’s live page. Once the action is complete, rely on the provider—not ChatGPT—for the record and any change.
