Yes—Bluehost documents a Django deployment route for VPS and Dedicated hosting, but that is not the same as a managed Django service or a general promise of support on shared hosting. A Bluehost VPS is most relevant if you want root access and published resource allocations and are prepared to configure and maintain the server. If you want a provider to take more of that work off your hands, compare managed application platforms instead.
What this review can—and cannot—establish
Bluehost’s India-hosted support article explicitly identifies Python and Django as application services for VPS and Dedicated deployments and points to cPanel’s Python WSGI application instructions. It also says third-party applications are generally supported as-is: Bluehost’s technical support engineers do not install, configure, or manage them on a self-managed server. This supports a qualified claim that Bluehost documents a Django route on those server types; it does not establish that Bluehost operates a managed Django runtime or that Django is generally supported on shared hosting. Read Bluehost’s third-party application guidance.
This is not a hands-on Django deployment review. TechRadar’s February 26, 2026 Bluehost VPS review provides independent expert-review context for Bluehost VPS generally, covering plans, pricing, infrastructure, features, and benchmark performance. The available source material does not provide its specific benchmark figures or show a Django application test. TechRadar also discloses that purchases through its links may earn it an affiliate commission.

One Django community discussion captures the ease-versus-control question—how to host Django and PostgreSQL without taking on a DevOps project—but one discussion is anecdotal, not evidence of broader user sentiment or Bluehost customer experience.

Which Bluehost hosting type is documented for Django?
The strongest direct evidence is the India-specific Bluehost VPS and Dedicated support article. It describes Python and Django as application services and refers readers to cPanel’s “Installing a Python WSGI Application” documentation. Its scope matters: the documented route is for VPS and Dedicated servers, and the same article limits application-level help for third-party software.
Bluehost’s separate Django guide describes a typical VPS setup involving Python and pip, Django, a database, a virtual environment, Gunicorn, Nginx, and SSL. It names PostgreSQL and MySQL as database choices. These are Bluehost’s suggested deployment components, not a verified installation or a guarantee that Bluehost support will configure them for you. See Bluehost’s VPS for Django guide.
Do not treat the VPS guidance as proof that a shared plan offers an equivalent Django environment. Bluehost’s own explanation says: “On Shared hosting, your website uses resources that are distributed among many customers.” That article, updated June 30, 2026, also outlines the VPS distinction.

Bluehost VPS plans: published resources, not Django benchmarks
The following allocations are from Bluehost’s plan table, updated June 30, 2026. They are published specifications, not independent measurements of Django performance or a guarantee that a particular project will handle a given traffic level.

| Bluehost VPS plan | CPU | Memory | Storage | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard NVMe 4 | 2 AMD EPYC cores | 4 GB DDR5 RAM | 100 GB NVMe | Unmetered bandwidth, one dedicated IP, root access; cPanel/WHM optional |
| Enhanced NVMe 8 | 4 AMD EPYC cores | 8 GB DDR5 RAM | 200 GB NVMe | Unmetered bandwidth, one dedicated IP, root access; cPanel/WHM optional |
| Ultimate NVMe 16 | 8 AMD EPYC cores | 16 GB DDR5 RAM | 450 GB NVMe | Unmetered bandwidth, one dedicated IP, root access; cPanel/WHM optional |
Bluehost lists Alma 9, Ubuntu 22.04, and Debian 8, 9, and 10 among the operating-system options in that article. Because listed versions and availability may change, confirm the supported OS choices and plan details with Bluehost before ordering. The reviewed plan guidance does not establish a stable price; check the current checkout for your location, term, introductory and renewal rates, and any required add-ons rather than relying on a headline monthly figure.
What you take on with a self-managed VPS
Root access and allocated CPU, memory, and storage give a technical customer more control, but they also leave substantial operational work with that customer. Bluehost says VPS owners manage backups and updates for most installed software; the same VPS guidance says automatic backups are no longer provided on NVMe VPS. Its User Agreement places responsibility for backing up content on VPS and Dedicated customers.
Rank #4
- Application stack: Plan to install and maintain the Python environment, Django dependencies, application server, and web-server configuration.
- Security and updates: You are responsible for keeping most installed software current and maintaining the server configuration.
- Backups and recovery: Arrange and verify backups for your application and data; do not assume the VPS includes automatic backups.
- Database and background work: Decide how you will operate the database and any workers or scheduled jobs your application needs. The cited Bluehost guide describes database options, but does not establish managed database or worker operations for your application.
Bluehost’s support description also limits what it will do after super-user changes: it identifies baseline OS and control-panel restoration and basic diagnostics, while saying it will not configure DNS, firewalls, or web servers under that support description. The company’s VPS guidance says self-managed VPS requires technical knowledge, particularly Linux administration. Chat support is described as available around the clock and phone support as having set hours; those support channels should not be confused with Django deployment or application debugging.
VPS control or managed platform convenience?
The practical choice is who will do the operational work, not simply which advertised plan has the most resources. A self-managed VPS gives you root access and direct responsibility for the server; a managed application platform typically puts more of the deployment and infrastructure workflow behind provider-managed services. Exact responsibilities vary by provider and product, so verify current capabilities directly.
Best Value
| Decision area | Bluehost self-managed VPS | Managed application platform |
|---|---|---|
| Runtime and web server | You configure and maintain the server software; Bluehost’s third-party application support is limited. | Check which runtime, deployment, and server tasks the specific platform handles. |
| Database, backups, and jobs | You must plan the database and backup operations; confirm how any worker or scheduled-job setup will work. | Check whether database, backup, worker, and scheduled-job services are included or separately configured. |
| Control and portability | Root access gives greater control over the server environment, with corresponding administration duties. | Provider-managed abstractions can reduce server work but may constrain how infrastructure is configured. |
| Cost comparison | Compare the full term and renewal price, plus any required backup, database, and support costs. | Compare the same workload, database, backups, traffic, and support needs using current pricing. |
For a starting list of managed-platform options, Fly.io’s provider-authored Django hosting comparison, published September 28, 2026, names Fly.io, Render, Railway, Heroku, DigitalOcean App Platform, and PythonAnywhere. Treat its rankings and recommendations as Fly.io’s perspective, not neutral consensus, and verify each provider’s current features and prices directly. The comparison is useful as context for the VPS-versus-platform trade-off, not as independent proof that one service is best for every Django project.

Bluehost’s current agreement describes a conditional 30-day money-back window for eligible Shared, VPS, and Dedicated hosting: an eligible customer may request a full refund by canceling through support within the first 30 days of the initial term. The terms include exclusions and payment conditions; they exclude, among other items, monthly-term products, domain registration fees, and other add-ons. Read the current User Agreement for the applicable conditions rather than treating the window as an unconditional refund promise.
Quick Recap
- Confirm that the plan and operating system you intend to use are currently available in your region.
- Check whether you are comfortable administering Linux, the Django runtime, web server, TLS, database, updates, and backups.
- Price the complete setup over the relevant term, including renewal rates and any separate services your application needs.
- If relying on cPanel’s WSGI workflow, check the current cPanel documentation and confirm the selected server configuration supports it.
