Short answer: Covve is the most broadly featured choice for networking events and offline capture; ABBYY Business Card Reader Pro is the clearest fit for iPhone or iPad users who want reviewed OCR fields and CSV export; CamCard is worth evaluating for team lead management; ScanBizCards is aimed at conference and badge workflows; and Haystack combines scanning with a shareable digital card. No independent testing in the available evidence proves that one app has the highest recognition accuracy. Choose by where your contacts go after the scan, whether you need offline work, and which plan your regional app store actually offers.

This is a feature-based shortlist, not a laboratory ranking. The apps and prices below can change by country, operating system and subscription tier, so open the current store listing and plan screen before paying.

At a glance: the five picks

App Best fit Documented capabilities Price or availability evidence Important check before subscribing
Covve Individual networking, events and offline capture Paper-card, QR-code and event-badge capture; offline use; phone-contact save/export; custom fields; voice capture; individual and team lead-management features US App Store: free download with in-app purchases; 60+ language recognition claim; 14-day full-feature trial followed by an annual subscription Annual amount and plan limits vary by storefront. A June 2026 Google Play review mentioned a $119 annual charge, but that is one user’s experience, not a universal price.
ABBYY Business Card Reader Pro iPhone/iPad OCR with field review and spreadsheet export Scanning in 25 languages; automatic photo capture and cropping; review of recognized fields; contact storage; CSV export; Salesforce Leads export with license limitations US App Store listing displays $59.99 The displayed amount is US-storefront specific and can change. Confirm whether the Salesforce export you need is included in your license.
CamCard Teams that need shared lead handling Comparison coverage positions it as a team option with CRM-oriented lead management Current price, connectors and tier limits are not established here Check the exact CRM connector, number of users, sharing controls and total team cost in current documentation.
ScanBizCards Conferences, badge capture and assisted processing Comparison coverage highlights event and badge workflows, CRM export plans and a possible human-review service Current prices and which features require a paid plan are not established here Find out whether human review is optional, how long it takes, and which CRM exports your plan permits.
Haystack A digital business card alongside occasional scanning Shareable digital-card identity plus card scanning Current store limits and plan terms are not established here Test whether scanned fields save cleanly, whether exports are available, and what contact or card limits apply.

The table separates documented features from items that still require an in-app or store check. A missing value does not mean a feature is absent; it means a current, comparable specification was not established.

How to choose without chasing an accuracy claim

Business-card scanners perform two jobs: they turn an image into structured fields, and they move those fields into the system where you will follow up. The second job often determines whether an app is useful. A scan that looks impressive but cannot export to your contacts, spreadsheet or CRM creates another manual step.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  1. Start with the destination. Decide whether every scan should become a phone contact, a CSV row, a CRM lead, or a record inside the app. Eliminate apps that cannot deliver that destination on your device and plan.
  2. Identify the event conditions. If you work in basements, convention halls or aircraft mode, offline capture matters. In the evidence available here, Covve explicitly describes offline capture; offline behavior for the other shortlisted apps is not established.
  3. Count people and devices. A solo user can tolerate a personal contact list. A sales or recruiting team needs sharing, ownership, duplicate handling and permission controls. Those requirements make plan eligibility more important than a free download.
  4. Check your card mix. Printed cards, QR codes and event badges are not interchangeable. Covve documents all three; ScanBizCards is repeatedly associated with badge and conference workflows. Verify the exact formats your event uses.
  5. Price the complete workflow. Include recurring subscriptions, export add-ons, CRM seats and any human-review charges. Storefront prices can differ by region and can change after an introductory trial.

1. Covve: the broadest event and offline feature set

Covve is the strongest starting point when networking happens away from a dependable connection or when you collect more than printed cards. Its official product information describes unlimited paper-card, QR-code and event-badge capture, offline use, saving and exporting phone contacts, custom fields, voice capture, and tools for both individual and team lead management.

Why it fits an event-heavy workflow

  • Multiple input types: You can plan for a paper card, a QR code or a badge rather than forcing every contact through one image-recognition path.
  • Offline capture: Covve says cards can be captured without a live connection. Confirm when synchronization occurs and what happens if you sign out before reconnecting.
  • Follow-up data: Custom fields and voice capture are useful when a name and email address are not enough. Add the conversation context while it is fresh instead of relying on memory.
  • Personal or team use: The product pages describe individual and team lead-management features. A team should still verify role permissions, assignment rules and shared-record limits for its plan.

What the US App Store listing says about language and trial terms

The US App Store listing advertises recognition in more than 60 languages and a 14-day full-feature trial followed by an annual subscription. “60+ languages” is a stated capability, not an independently measured recognition result. The listing presents the app as free to download with in-app purchases; the subscription amount should be read from your own storefront.

A June 2026 Google Play reviewer reported seeing a $119 annual subscription. That is an individual storefront experience, not a universal current price, so do not use it as a quote for another country or account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A sensible Covve setup

  1. Install the current store version and read the trial screen before accepting it. Note the renewal date and annual amount shown for your country.
  2. Choose the default destination for a new record: the app’s lead list, your phone contacts, or an export workflow.
  3. At an event, capture one paper card, one QR code and one badge if available. Confirm that each record contains the fields you expect before processing a batch.
  4. Add a custom field for context such as “event,” “project” or “next action.” Use voice capture for a short reminder, then review the text.
  5. When you regain connectivity, verify that offline records synchronize and that exports contain the custom fields you added.

Who should pass on it

Covve may be more than you need if you only scan a few cards a year and want a simple, non-subscription contact entry. It is also a poor fit if your required CRM connector, retention policy or regional price is not available on the plan shown to you.

2. ABBYY Business Card Reader Pro: reviewed OCR and CSV export on Apple devices

ABBYY Business Card Reader Pro is the focused choice for an iPhone or iPad owner who wants to inspect recognized fields and export a spreadsheet. The US App Store listing describes scanning in 25 languages, automatic photo capture and cropping, a review step for recognized fields, contact storage, CSV export and Salesforce Leads export subject to license limitations.

Why the review step matters

Business cards often contain two phone numbers, a department, a suite number or a logo that resembles text. ABBYY’s documented workflow includes reviewing recognized fields before you rely on them. Treat that screen as a required quality check, not an optional nicety: correct names, email domains and telephone country codes while the card is visible.

Price and platform qualification

The US App Store listing displays $59.99. That figure is tied to that storefront and can change; it should not be presented as a worldwide or permanent price. The listing describes iPhone and iPad use, so Android users should not assume the same Pro product or feature set exists for their device.

Export workflow

  1. Open the camera view and let the automatic capture and cropping produce a card image.
  2. Review every recognized field, especially names, email addresses, country codes and company spelling.
  3. Save the corrected record to the app’s contact store.
  4. Export a small test set to CSV and open it in the spreadsheet or import tool you actually use. Check column names, character encoding and whether blank fields remain blank.
  5. If you need Salesforce Leads, confirm that your license includes that export and identify whether it creates new leads, updates existing records or only produces an intermediate file.

ABBYY’s listing establishes these capabilities, but it does not establish a comparative accuracy score against the other apps here. A successful recognition result still depends on card design, lighting, language and your review discipline.

3. CamCard: investigate it when several people capture leads

Current comparison coverage places CamCard in the team-oriented part of the market. That makes it a candidate for sales groups, recruiters or exhibitors who need more than a personal address book. The available evidence does not provide a stable, detailed specification for every connector, seat limit or current price, so treat CamCard as a shortlist direction that needs a plan check rather than a guaranteed team winner.

Questions a team should answer before rollout

  • Sharing: Can users share a card with the whole team, a territory or one owner? Can an administrator change ownership later?
  • CRM destination: Is your exact CRM supported, and does the connector create contacts, accounts, leads or notes? Are custom fields mapped?
  • Duplicates: What happens when two people scan the same exhibitor? Look for merge, duplicate warnings or an export-time cleanup process.
  • Permissions: Can ordinary users export the full database, or only their own records? This affects offboarding and data governance.
  • Cost: Is billing per user, per workspace or by volume? Ask for the total annual amount for your actual number of scanners, not the price of a single seat.

How to pilot CamCard safely

  1. Create a small test workspace with two users and the CRM or spreadsheet destination you plan to use.
  2. Scan cards with different layouts and deliberately include a duplicate.
  3. Check field mapping, ownership, timestamps and notes after export.
  4. Remove one test user and confirm what happens to that person’s records.
  5. Only then decide whether the team plan saves more time than a personal scanner plus a shared spreadsheet.

Because the comparison evidence is editorial rather than a controlled test, do not repeat claims that CamCard is the fastest or most accurate without independent measurements.

4. ScanBizCards: built around conferences and badge capture

ScanBizCards is the specialist direction for conference-heavy work. Comparison coverage highlights badge workflows, CRM export plans and the possibility of a human-review service. Those features can matter when an event supplies machine-readable badges or when staff cannot manually inspect every scan on the show floor.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What to verify about assisted processing

A human-review option can mean different things: a person may correct recognized fields, validate a batch after the event or process a service request that is separate from the app subscription. The available material does not establish the service’s current price, turnaround time or coverage. Ask those questions in the current plan documentation before promising a delivery date to your team.

Conference-day procedure

  1. Before the event, confirm that the app accepts the organizer’s badge format and that your phone has enough storage and battery.
  2. Connect the destination account or select the export format permitted by your plan.
  3. Capture a badge or card, then inspect at least the name, company and contact route before moving to the next person.
  4. Add a short qualification note while the conversation is fresh; do not rely on a later memory sweep.
  5. At breaks, export a small batch and confirm that the CRM or file receives the expected fields.
  6. After the event, reconcile duplicates and check whether any records are waiting for optional human review.

ScanBizCards is less compelling for a person who scans only occasional paper cards and never attends badge-based events. Its value depends on whether its event workflow and export plan remove work you would otherwise do manually.

5. Haystack: a digital card plus scanning

Haystack is the hybrid choice for people who want their own shareable digital business card as well as a way to capture other people’s cards. That can reduce the need to hand out a paper card, while the scanning side keeps incoming contacts in one place.

Evaluate the two sides separately

  • Your outbound identity: Check which profile fields, branding controls and sharing methods are available on the current plan.
  • Incoming scans: Test whether a scanned card becomes a clean contact, a Haystack record, a downloadable file or some combination.
  • Limits: Look for caps on scans, contacts, exports or team members. The available evidence does not establish current limits.
  • Portability: Export a sample and confirm that you can leave with usable names, emails, phone numbers and notes if you change tools later.

When Haystack is the right compromise

Choose this direction when the digital-card experience is as important as OCR. If all you need is a high-volume event intake pipeline, compare its export and team controls with the event-focused options instead of assuming a digital card automatically improves lead handling.

The occasional free route: Google Lens with phone contacts

For a handful of cards, comparison coverage points to Google Lens paired with phone contacts as a basic, low-commitment approach. It can be reasonable when you already use the phone’s contact system and do not need batch processing, team assignment or a specialized export.

Before relying on it, check whether the recognized name, phone number, email and address can be saved as separate contact fields rather than one block of text. Also check backup and export options in your contact account. The available evidence does not establish a business-card-specific accuracy score, offline behavior or a guaranteed set of fields, so regard it as an occasional capture tool, not a full event-management system.

Feature decisions that change the recommendation

Decision Best-supported direction Why
Need paper, QR and badge capture with offline operation Covve Its official pages explicitly describe all three capture types and offline use.
Need an iPhone/iPad review-and-export workflow ABBYY Business Card Reader Pro The US listing documents automatic capture, field review, contact storage and CSV export.
Need shared team lead handling CamCard or Covve Comparison coverage positions CamCard for teams, while Covve documents individual and team lead features. Verify connectors and permissions before selecting.
Need conference badge intake or optional assisted processing ScanBizCards Comparison coverage specifically associates it with conferences, badges and CRM export plans.
Want a digital card and occasional scanning Haystack Its proposition combines a shareable digital identity with scanning.
Scan only a few cards and want no dedicated subscription Google Lens with phone contacts It is a basic capture path, but field quality, exports and limits need checking on your device.

Accuracy, privacy and data quality: what the evidence can and cannot prove

None of the available material supplies an independently published, dated comparison of recognition accuracy. Statements such as “most accurate” or “fastest” should be treated as vendor marketing unless a source describes a controlled test with the same cards, lighting, languages and scoring rules.

In practice, accuracy is also a process issue. A blurry photo, reflective finish, unusual typeface or card with multiple phone numbers can defeat any OCR engine. Use good lighting, keep the camera parallel to the card, avoid glare and review critical fields before syncing. For high-value leads, compare the email domain and telephone country code with the printed card.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Privacy deserves the same attention as OCR. Read where images and extracted contacts are processed, how long they are retained, who on a team can export them and what happens when an employee leaves. If your organization has a data-residency or consent requirement, obtain a current provider statement rather than inferring policy from an app-store description.

  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

Offline use, exports and CRM handoff

Offline capture is explicitly described for Covve. For ABBYY, CamCard, ScanBizCards, Haystack and Google Lens, the available material does not establish a common offline guarantee. Test in airplane mode before an event if connectivity is a requirement: capture a sample, close and reopen the app, then reconnect and confirm synchronization.

Exports deserve a small acceptance test. Use five representative cards and verify:

  • Names are split into the fields your destination expects.
  • International phone numbers retain their country codes.
  • Company, title, address and notes are not silently dropped.
  • Character encoding preserves accents and non-Latin scripts.
  • Duplicate records can be identified and merged.
  • CRM ownership, consent and follow-up fields survive the handoff.

Pricing, trials and renewal safety

Store prices and subscriptions are volatile. Covve’s US App Store listing describes a free download, in-app purchases and a 14-day full-feature trial that leads to an annual subscription; the amount is not stated there as a universal figure. ABBYY’s US App Store listing displays $59.99. CamCard, ScanBizCards and Haystack require a current plan check for comparable pricing and limits.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Before starting any trial, record the exact renewal date, billing interval, currency, number of seats and export or CRM restrictions. Cancel through the platform that controls the subscription if the trial does not suit you. A price seen in one country, or in one user’s Google Play account, is not a reliable quote for another account.

A five-minute selection checklist

  1. Write down the destination for every new contact.
  2. Mark whether you need offline capture, QR support or badge support.
  3. Choose the device platform and languages used on your cards.
  4. Decide whether one person or a team will own the data.
  5. Run a five-card export test before importing a full archive.
  6. Read the current plan screen for renewal, seats, CRM access and retention terms.
  7. Keep the original card image or a verified backup until the contact is confirmed.

Bottom line

Pick Covve for the widest documented event and offline workflow, ABBYY for a focused iPhone/iPad OCR-and-CSV process, CamCard when team controls are the deciding factor, ScanBizCards for badge-centered conferences, and Haystack when a digital card is part of the requirement. Use Google Lens with phone contacts only for light, occasional capture. In every case, validate the current regional listing and run a small export test before committing your address book or CRM to the app.
