There is not enough official information to confirm that “Bupa International Plus” is a currently offered Bupa Global plan or to assess its benefits, price or claims terms. Bupa Global’s current plan pages use different product names. Treat International Plus as an unverified policy name until you match it to the insured person’s country, policy schedule, issue date and applicable terms.
Can you still buy Bupa International Plus?
That is not established by the official material available. Bupa Global’s current individual plan descriptions name Major Medical, Select, Premier and Elite, while its family page describes its own current plan options. Neither page identifies International Plus as an alias for one of those products. Bupa’s download centre organizes documents by residence market and product family, so the name may relate to a historic, regional or intermediary-specific policy; its exact identity remains unresolved.
Bupa’s 2025 annual report describes its international private medical insurance business as serving individuals, small businesses and corporate customers, including people who need cover beyond their usual country of residence. How to judge the cover once you have the contract
Do not transfer limits or benefits from a different Bupa plan to International Plus. Bupa’s current plan descriptions show that annual limits, benefits and area of cover vary by plan. They also define the annual limit as the maximum paid for all benefits for each person in each policy year. That definition and any figures on the current page are comparison context only, not International Plus terms. Check the actual schedule and policy wording alongside the relevant current plan descriptions.

- Where cover applies: Confirm your eligible residence and the insured area, including whether the United States is included. Check whether emergency treatment while travelling is treated differently from planned care.
- Limits and member costs: Record the annual overall limit, each relevant benefit sublimit, deductible, co-payment or co-insurance, and whether any limit resets by policy year or applies per condition.
- Treatment categories: Check inpatient and outpatient care, cancer treatment and mental health care. If relevant to your household, look separately for maternity, dental and optical benefits rather than assuming they are included.
- Travel-related services: Verify emergency evacuation and repatriation provisions, including the circumstances in which they apply and any approval requirements.
- Medical history and exclusions: Read the wording for pre-existing conditions, medical underwriting, moratoriums, waiting periods and general exclusions. Ask for any personal exclusions or special terms to be recorded in writing.
- Access and claims: Establish when pre-authorisation is required, which providers can bill the insurer directly, what you must pay upfront, and how to file and track a reimbursement claim.
- Renewal and portability: Check renewal conditions, age limits, any right to change residence or transfer cover, and what happens to cover if you move countries or change policy.
- Total cost: Compare the premium and currency with the deductible, co-insurance and likely out-of-pocket exposure. A lower premium alone does not show that two policies provide equivalent protection.
How to verify your International Plus policy
- Identify the exact contract. Get the complete policy schedule, membership guide or policy wording, and any endorsements. Confirm the insured person’s residence country, issuing insurer, policy issue or renewal date, and the precise product name.
- Match the wording to the market and date. Use Bupa Global’s download centre to locate documents for the relevant residence market and product family. Do not assume a document for another market or a newer, differently named plan governs your cover.
- Resolve gaps with the insurer or administrator. Ask for written answers about any missing schedule, unclear benefit, exclusion, US coverage, dependant eligibility, claims procedure or renewal term. Keep those answers with the policy documents.
- Compare only verified terms. Put the confirmed limits, cost-sharing, exclusions, covered geography and claims requirements beside another policy’s corresponding terms. If International Plus’s wording cannot be produced, there is no sound basis for a benefits or price comparison.
Are there enough facts to rate its value or performance?
No. There is no established International Plus-specific evidence here for claims acceptance, claims outcomes, customer satisfaction or value, and no plan-specific premium or benefit schedule to assess. Company-wide figures would not establish how this named policy performs.
