Choose a bundled visual or conversational workflow to build and host a site or web app. Choose v0 if you want an AI-assisted coding workflow built around GitHub and Vercel projects. Neither is a universal winner: they suit different ways of working, and their prices are not directly comparable.

What is the main difference between the builder and v0?

The builder is a no-code site and web-app platform with two creation modes: Manual, which pairs AI with visual editing, and Agentic, which uses a conversational workflow. The company describes uses ranging from business sites and portfolios to stores, bookings, client portals, calculators, and other web apps. It also says paid plans allow code export for Agentic projects and that the builder does not create native App Store or Google Play apps. These are vendor-described capabilities, not results of a matched independent test.

v0 is an AI-assisted code and app-building workflow integrated with Vercel projects. Its documented workflow includes chats, an editor, previews, code export, GitHub connections, and deployment through Vercel. The v0 FAQ, updated March 17, 2026, says a February 4, 2026 update added Git integration, project organization tied to apps, a VS Code-style editor, and improved previews. v0 FAQ

Which should you use for your project?

Choose the builder for a bundled builder-and-hosting setup

  • You prefer visual editing or a conversational builder over a code-centered workflow.
  • You want eligible hosting included with the builder rather than arranging a separate hosting service.
  • Your project is a website or web app, and its needed integrations are supported by the builder.

Choose v0 for a code and GitHub-centered workflow

  • You want to work with exported code or an existing GitHub repository.
  • You want previews, deployments, and project settings connected to Vercel.
  • You need a workflow that supports app development such as dashboards, ecommerce, SaaS, AI applications, or data visualizations.

Both companies describe integrations and web-app use cases. Check the exact backend, payment, database, and API services your project requires; the available information does not establish blanket integration parity.

What happens to hosting after you publish?

Eligible active hosting is required

Support documentation says the builder requires an active Web, Cloud, or Agency hosting plan to create, publish, or export a project; VPS hosting is incompatible. If the hosting expires, the project becomes unavailable. The support page also says project data is deleted if a plan is canceled, refunded, or not renewed within the retention period, but it does not state a specific duration.

v0: publishing connects to a Vercel project

Publishing a v0 chat creates or updates a Vercel project. Connected GitHub repositories, project environment variables, and custom domains are tied into that project workflow. Vercel Pro is not required to use v0 features, but Vercel plan limits, including project limits, can still constrain deployment. Review the requirements for your own Vercel project and plan. v0 and Vercel integration · v0 deployment documentation

How do code export, GitHub, and collaboration differ?

The builder says code export is available for Agentic projects on paid plans. Its described workflow is centered on the builder and eligible hosting, rather than the GitHub project workflow documented by v0.

v0 documents importing existing GitHub repositories, exporting code, and beginning from a new chat. For the fuller workflow involving environment variables, deployments, and previews, its FAQ recommends connecting a GitHub repository to a Vercel project. Documentation also describes branches, commits, pull requests, and production updates. v0 FAQ · v0 deployment documentation

v0’s plan documentation distinguishes individual tiers from collaboration-oriented options with shared projects and credit pools. The builder’s displayed plan page differentiates site limits and support, but does not provide enough information for a like-for-like assessment of team collaboration. v0 pricing documentation

How do the listed prices compare?

The figures below are vendor-published examples, not a like-for-like cost test. The US pricing page, captured October 7, 2026, showed 48-month prepaid rates; the monthly equivalents are the upfront plan totals divided by 48. v0’s documentation lists monthly prices, with some tiers charged per user. Compare the commitment, renewal price, number of users, credits, hosting, and Vercel usage limits that apply to your project.

Service and plan Listed price and billing basis Renewal or availability
Premium $2.99/month equivalent on a 48-month US prepaid term; $143.52 upfront Renews at $10.99/month
Unlimited $3.99/month equivalent on a 48-month US prepaid term; $191.52 upfront Renews at $16.99/month

The displayed plan page also lists three sites for Premium and unlimited sites for Unlimited and Cloud Startup; some features are subject to its Fair Usage Policy. Rates are specific to the US page and capture date and may change, so verify the checkout terms. v0’s plan list includes monthly credits and differences in shared projects, credit pooling, access controls, data opt-out, and SSO; check its live pricing documentation because Premium is changing. v0 pricing documentation

Can you pick a tested winner?

No matched usability, speed, output-quality, or reliability test is established here, so the available evidence does not support declaring one tool objectively better. Make the choice based on workflow, code and version-control needs, hosting continuity, integrations, team requirements, and total cost under the actual billing terms. For a visual builder bundled with eligible hosting, its model is the closer fit; for AI-assisted coding connected to GitHub and Vercel, v0’s is.
