To export a channel’s uploaded videos with views and subscribers, use the YouTube Data API and Google Sheets: retrieve the channel’s uploads playlist, list every playlist page, fetch each video’s statistics, and join the results by video ID. The result is an inventory of videos available to your account—not necessarily private uploads on channels you do not own.

What the spreadsheet can include

A practical export has one row per available uploaded video, plus channel-level information. Typical columns are video ID, title, publication date, video URL, view count, channel name, channel ID, and subscriber count. Video statistics belong to individual videos; subscriber count belongs to the channel, so the same channel-level figure can be repeated on each row or stored in a separate channel summary.

Use the export date as a snapshot date. YouTube documents a view-count definition change effective August 24, 2026: views across long-form, live, and Shorts formats count when playback begins, including autoplay, pointer hover, and click or tap to play. An export should not imply that counts collected at different times necessarily share an unchanged definition. See the YouTube channel resource reference.

Why the uploads playlist is the right inventory

First retrieve the channel’s uploads playlist ID from contentDetails.relatedPlaylists.uploads in the channel resource. Then enumerate the playlist using playlistItems.list, following each page token until the response has no continuation token. Playlist items provide the video IDs needed to request video-level details. Google documents this channel-to-uploads-playlist workflow in its video implementation guide.

Do not rely on search.list alone when the goal is a complete inventory. Search is useful for discovery, but the documented uploads-playlist path is the direct way to enumerate a channel’s uploaded videos. The API overview also explains that search results are not themselves persistent resources: YouTube Data API overview.

Set up Google Sheets and Apps Script

  1. Create or open a Google Sheet for the export.
  2. Select Extensions > Apps Script to open the script editor.
  3. Enable the YouTube Data API advanced service in Apps Script. If the project prompts you to enable the API in its associated Google Cloud project, follow that prompt as well.
  4. Authorize the script when prompted. Use an account with the access needed for the channel data you intend to retrieve.

Google’s Apps Script quickstart demonstrates writing YouTube channel information to Sheets and covers the setup and authorization flow. Its example writes a channel-level row with channel ID, title, and view count; it does not by itself produce a complete per-video export or include subscribers. The upload enumeration and video-statistics steps below are what turn that starter pattern into this spreadsheet.

Build the export in three API steps

1. Get the channel and its uploads playlist

Call channels.list for the channel you want, requesting the snippet, statistics, and contentDetails parts. Read the channel title and ID from the response, the uploads playlist ID from contentDetails.relatedPlaylists.uploads, and the subscriber fields from statistics. The channel resource reference documents these fields: YouTube channel resource.

2. List every page of uploads

Call playlistItems.list for that uploads playlist. Continue requesting pages with each returned nextPageToken until there is no next token. For each playlist item, retain the video ID and any item-level fields you want, such as title and publication date. Pagination matters: exporting only the first response omits videos when the playlist spans multiple pages. The method and pagination pattern are described in the official implementation guide.

3. Fetch statistics and join by video ID

Request the corresponding video resources with videos.list, including the statistics part. Match each returned video to its playlist item by video ID, then write the merged rows to the Sheet. Keep the video ID in the spreadsheet as a stable join key; titles can change and are not a reliable key. The videos.list reference documents the method’s response and pagination metadata and currently lists a quota impact of one unit per call.

Request IDs in batches within the method’s current limits, and account for API quota and response constraints. An ID that does not produce a video resource should not be treated as a zero-view video; it may not be available to the requesting account. Write an export timestamp alongside the rows so readers know when the figures were captured.

Interpret subscriber and video counts carefully

  • Subscriber count may be rounded. YouTube rounds the public subscriberCount down to three significant figures, so it is not an exact count. The field definition is in the channel resource reference.
  • Some channels hide subscribers. Check hiddenSubscriberCount. If the count is hidden, do not substitute zero or infer an exact value; record it as unavailable or hidden.
  • Video count means public videos. The channel resource’s videoCount is the number of public videos, including for channel owners. It is not a guarantee that a general export includes every private or otherwise inaccessible upload.
  • Access depends on visibility and authorization. Unauthenticated API calls can retrieve public data. Authorization can provide access to private information for the authenticated account, subject to API permissions. For another person’s channel, treat the export as public-channel data, not a private archive. See the API overview.

When a manual list is enough—and when it is not

Copying visible entries from a channel page can be adequate for a short, one-time list. It is less dependable when you need all pages, consistent video IDs, per-video view statistics, a subscriber field, or a repeatable refresh. The API route takes more initial setup and authorization, but its pagination and ID-based join make the inventory easier to reproduce and audit.

For channel owners analyzing performance beyond public video statistics, YouTube’s Analytics and Reporting APIs serve a different purpose: they provide owner-oriented reporting subject to authorization. They are not a substitute for enumerating the public uploads playlist when the task is simply to build a video inventory.
