Bootstrap’s official accordion component can provide the collapse behavior for a dark interface, but the available documentation does not verify a specific “V10” dark template. Bootstrap’s reference covers its own accordion markup and behavior for version 5.3; use that as the implementation baseline, then apply and test your own dark styling.

What Bootstrap’s accordion provides

Bootstrap describes an accordion as a vertically collapsing component powered by its Collapse JavaScript plugin. Its standard structure pairs a button with a collapsible content region. Classes and data attributes define the relationship and control whether the panel starts open or changes visibility when activated.

The official reference documents Bootstrap v5.3, not a particular free dark “V10” template. It does not establish that template’s design, license, release date, compatibility, accessibility behavior, or tested results. Check those details against the source of any third-party implementation before adopting it.

Bootstrap v5.3 Accordion documentation

How the markup and panel behavior fit together

Bootstrap’s example uses .accordion as the container, with .accordion-item elements containing an .accordion-header, an .accordion-button, a corresponding .accordion-collapse region, and an .accordion-body.

The button uses data-bs-toggle="collapse" to invoke the Collapse plugin, data-bs-target to point to its panel, and aria-controls to identify that panel. Its aria-expanded value communicates the current state. The target panel uses .collapse; adding .show makes it visible initially.

Choose whether panels close one another

To make the accordion behave as a group, add data-bs-parent to the collapse regions and point it to their shared accordion container. Opening one item then closes another in that group. To allow multiple panels to remain open, omit data-bs-parent.

Set the initial state consistently

For a panel that starts expanded, add .show to its collapse region, remove .collapsed from its button, and set that button’s aria-expanded value to "true". For a panel that starts closed, do not add .show, use the collapsed button state, and set aria-expanded to "false".

How to approach a dark appearance

The cited accordion reference documents component behavior and a flush style; it does not document a dark V10 theme. A dark appearance therefore needs to come from the styling you apply or from a third-party theme whose source you verify. Check that the colors, borders, focus indication, and expanded-state styling remain legible against the host page rather than assuming the behavior classes supply a dark palette.

Use flush styling only for its documented purpose

Add .accordion-flush when you want the documented flush presentation: it removes the default background color, some borders, and some rounded corners so the accordion renders edge-to-edge with its parent. It is a layout and appearance option, not evidence of a dark theme.

What to check before using a third-party example

Compare an example against the official component behavior and your project’s needs. The Bootstrap reference establishes the behavior of its documented v5.3 example, not the properties of an independently named template.

  • Version compatibility: verify which Bootstrap version the example targets.
  • Panel behavior: determine whether one panel or several can stay open.
  • Starting state: confirm which panel, if any, is expanded when the page loads.
  • Visual fit: check how its styling integrates with your page, including the dark colors and flush or bordered treatment you want.
  • Keyboard and assistive technology: inspect the actual implementation’s controls, state reporting, and interaction behavior; the documentation alone does not validate a third-party template.
  • Reduced motion: Bootstrap notes that the component animation responds to the prefers-reduced-motion media query. Do not assume a third-party replacement preserves that behavior without checking it.
