The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a convertible stroller whose main buying decision is whether you need Mono for one child, Duo for siblings of different ages, or Twin for twins. The published specifications give useful limits for width, child load and cargo, but they do not establish ride comfort, ease of folding, or real-world doorway fit. Treat this as a specification-led review, not an independent hands-on test.
What changes between Mono, Duo and Twin?
Bugaboo presents Mono as a single-child setup with room to grow, Duo for siblings of different ages, and Twin for twins. The stroller can be configured with seats or carrycots, but the components supplied vary by configuration and regional bundle. Confirm the contents of the exact product listing before buying; Bugaboo’s Twin page describes two seats and two bassinets in the box contents.

How wide is the Donkey 5, and will it fit your routes?
Bugaboo lists the stroller at 60 cm (23.6 in) wide in Mono mode and 74 cm (29.1 in) in Twin mode. The Twin configuration is therefore 14 cm wider than Mono. Bugaboo says the side-by-side setup is designed to fit through standard doorways and elevators, but that is a manufacturer design claim, not a guarantee for every doorway, lift or route.

Its comparison page lists a one-piece self-standing fold of 52 × 60 × 90 cm for Mono and 52 × 74 × 90 cm for Twin. The listed two-piece compact fold is 35 × 60 × 89 cm. Measure the narrowest doorway and lift entrance you use, plus your vehicle opening and storage space; the listed dimensions cannot determine fit in your particular home or car.

What are the weight and load limits?
Bugaboo lists a maximum load of 22 kg per seat and 10 kg for the underseat basket. The Twin product page also lists a side luggage basket, but the available specifications do not establish its load limit; check the current local manual before loading it.
The published Twin weight figures are inconsistent: Bugaboo’s product page reports 18.2 kg for two seats and 20.28 kg for two bassinets, while its comparison page labels 20.28 kg as Twin total weight with seat. The pages do not resolve what explains the difference. Do not use one figure as a universal weight; verify the exact setup, SKU and regional specification, especially if lifting the stroller is a deciding factor.

What ages and newborn setups does Bugaboo specify?
Bugaboo’s warning information gives the bassinet limit as up to 9 kg or six months, and seat use on the chassis as six to 48 months. These are manufacturer usage limits, not a substitute for the warning label and manual supplied with the stroller in your region. Check the local instructions for the exact component and configuration you plan to use.
If you need a newborn setup, confirm whether the chosen bundle includes the required carrycot or bassinet components. The fact that the platform can be configured with carrycots does not mean every local Mono, Duo or Twin package contains the same parts.

Can you use a car seat?
Bugaboo says the Donkey 5 is car-seat compatible, with adapters required. The available compatibility information here does not establish a complete current list of car-seat models or adapter pairings, so check Bugaboo’s current accessory chart and instructions for your specific car seat, stroller configuration and market before purchasing an adapter.
What do the wheels and materials tell you about everyday use?
Bugaboo describes the Donkey 5 as all-terrain and lists puncture-proof traction wheels: 25 cm (10 in) at the front and 30 cm (12 in) at the rear. Its comparison information lists no suspension. Those specifications and the all-terrain label do not establish ride comfort or performance on particular surfaces such as snow, sand or rough paths.

The manufacturer lists polyester fabrics and machine-washing guidance at 30°C, subject to the care label. Follow the care label on the actual fabric component rather than treating the general guidance as permission to wash every part the same way.
What this review can—and cannot—say about the stroller
The official pages provide concrete configuration, width, fold-dimension and load figures, which can help you decide whether the Donkey 5’s layout suits your family. They do not establish independent ride comfort, steering effort, durability, actual folding experience, or fit through a particular doorway. No independent testing is represented here.
