The Breville Compact Wave Soft Close BMO650 is a 900W, 0.9 cu. ft. countertop microwave with one-touch shortcuts and a soft-close door. Its strongest case is convenience in a compact footprint; whether it suits you depends on the counter space, clearance, and dishes you need to fit. Breville advertises the door as “80% quieter,” but its US product page does not provide a measurement method or comparison baseline, so treat that as a manufacturer claim rather than verified performance.
What the BMO650 offers
Breville’s US listing identifies model BMO650SIL1BUC1. It specifies 0.9 cu. ft. (25L) capacity, 900W microwave output, and 120V power. The official US instruction manual further lists 120V–60Hz input, 1350W power consumption, and 900W output at 2450MHz. Specifications may change without notice, so confirm the label and manual for the unit and market you are buying.
The manual lists approximate net weight at 27.5 lb (12.49kg), and a glass turntable diameter of 10.6 inches (270mm). The turntable measurement helps estimate whether a dish might fit, but does not establish the maximum usable dish dimensions.
Will it fit your counter and cookware?
For the US model, Breville’s manual gives external dimensions of 19.1 inches wide, 11.5 inches high, and 16.4 inches deep with the handle, or 15.2 inches deep without it. Measure the counter using the handle-inclusive depth if the microwave will sit with its door facing outward. The official manual’s installation instructions—not the product dimensions alone—should guide required clearance and door operation.

Before buying, compare the 10.6-inch turntable with the base diameter of your usual plates and containers. A dish’s handles or shape can affect fit, and the stated turntable diameter is not a guarantee of the largest usable dish size. Use microwave-safe cookware and follow the manual’s operating and safety guidance.
Controls and everyday convenience
Breville describes one-touch Reheat, Defrost, Popcorn, and Beverage functions, plus a Food Menu with examples such as pizza, vegetables, and potatoes. The company says Reheat uses lower power levels and Defrost is designed to help avoid overheating and drying food edges. These are descriptions of intended functions, not comparative cooking results.

Breville’s US product page describes the soft-close door as “80% quieter.” The page does not state the baseline, measurement procedure, comparison product, or independent test behind that figure. It is fair to say Breville advertises a quieter-closing door; the available product information does not establish how much quieter it is in a real kitchen or how it compares with other microwaves.

The electrical details above are for the US BMO650 listing and manual. Breville Canada lists the BMO650 with dimensions of 48.5 × 41.7 × 29.2cm, but that Canadian page should not be used to infer US electrical details or price. Check the model number, voltage, and local manual for the specific unit sold in your market.

Measure your counter and regular dishes first, and use the manual to confirm installation clearances. The available specifications and feature descriptions do not support a conclusion about cooking performance versus competing models, and the “80% quieter” wording remains Breville’s unverified comparative claim.
