BrenX Ltd. said on October 15, 2026 that its 32 MWh bGen™ thermal-energy-storage system at Tempo Beverages reached approximately 85 tons of steam per operating day during commissioning. That is about 15 tons per day above the project’s approximately 70-ton modeled base case and contracted take-or-pay minimum, but commissioning is still in progress and the company has not confirmed a sustained operating average.

Tempo’s facility uses approximately 90–100 tons of steam per operating day. The reported result therefore comes close to, but does not yet demonstrate, full replacement of the site’s steam demand.

What BrenX reported at Tempo

The October 15 update describes a preliminary commissioning result of approximately 85 tons of steam per operating day. BrenX says the system was nearing completion of commissioning, while also cautioning that sustained performance had not yet been confirmed.

The project’s financial model used approximately 70 tons per operating day as its base case. That same figure is the minimum contracted take-or-pay level, equivalent to approximately 19,000 tons of steam per year in the model. A take-or-pay commitment generally establishes a minimum volume that the customer is contractually obligated to take or pay for; it is not the same as a guarantee that the system will always produce above that level.

Measure Published figure How to interpret it
Commissioning output Approximately 85 tons per operating day Preliminary production reported October 15, 2026; not yet a validated long-term average
Base case and contracted minimum Approximately 70 tons per operating day Financial-model assumption and minimum take-or-pay volume
Annual modeled minimum Approximately 19,000 tons per year Annual figure used in the project model
Tempo’s stated demand Approximately 90–100 tons per operating day Customer-site consumption that BrenX is targeting to replace fully

Is 85 tons above the 70-ton base case?

Yes. On the rounded figures published by BrenX, 85 tons is approximately 15 tons per operating day above the 70-ton baseline. Dividing that difference by 70 produces roughly 21%; that percentage is an arithmetic inference from the rounded numbers, not a statistic reported by BrenX.

The comparison matters because the 70-ton figure is both the model’s base case and the contracted minimum. If output at or near 85 tons can be maintained through normal operation, the project would be producing more steam than the volume underpinning its original financial model. BrenX has said that steam sales above the contracted minimum could provide upside to that model, but any such benefit remains a forward-looking commercial possibility rather than booked revenue.

Can the system meet Tempo’s 90–100-ton daily demand?

The reported 85-ton commissioning result does not, by itself, show that the installation can cover the entire site load. It is approximately 5 tons below the low end of Tempo’s stated 90-ton daily demand and approximately 15 tons below the high end of 100 tons.

BrenX says it is targeting full replacement of Tempo’s demand. Reaching that target would require demonstrated output in the customer’s 90–100-ton operating range, together with reliable operation over the relevant production schedule. The October figure shows progress toward that objective, not proof that it has been achieved.

Why the operating-day qualifier matters

All of the output and demand figures are expressed per operating day rather than as a calendar-day average. A beverage plant’s schedule, steam-load profile, maintenance periods and commissioning conditions can affect how a daily figure translates into annual production. The company has not presented the 85-ton result as a validated annual run rate.

What equipment is installed?

The Tempo project uses BrenX’s bGen™ power-to-heat thermal-energy-storage technology. BrenX describes the installation as a commercial project in Israel that charges storage with grid electricity and on-site solar photovoltaic generation, then supplies process steam to Tempo Beverages.

Project attribute Published description
Storage capacity 32 MWh
Project metric 5.6 MW
Steam delivery capability Up to 14 tons of steam per hour, according to BrenX’s project page
Intended fuel displacement Replacement of fossil-fuel boiler use at the facility
Expected emissions benefit Approximately 6,200 tons of CO₂ avoided annually; an expected project figure, not a measured result from the October update

The system’s purpose is industrial heat decarbonization: electricity and solar energy charge the thermal store, and stored heat is converted into process steam when the factory needs it. The project is not being described as a conventional battery supplying electricity to the site.

Does the commissioning result prove recurring revenue?

No. BrenX explicitly states that the preliminary results do not constitute revenue guidance. The company has not confirmed sustained operating performance at 85 tons per operating day, and a commissioning achievement is not the same as a recognized recurring-sales run rate.

Commercial upside would depend on several events: completion of commissioning, validation of dependable steam production, operation at or above the contracted minimum, and the commercial terms governing any steam sold above that minimum. Until those conditions are documented, the 85-ton figure should be treated as an operational milestone.

“We are reaching an important stage in BrenX’s development as our technology advances toward sustained commercial operations.”

Doron Brenmiller, Chief Business Officer of BrenX

How the project got to this milestone

In a June 1, 2026 update, BrenX said the bGen™ system had connected to Tempo’s production facility and begun supplying steam. That announcement said deliveries were expected to increase during a planned ramp-up and validation process. The October report is the next stated milestone, showing approximately 85 tons per operating day while that commissioning process was still underway.

What to watch next

  • Completion of commissioning: BrenX needs to report that commissioning and validation are complete rather than still ongoing.
  • Sustained output: Look for a measured operating period demonstrating whether production remains near 85 tons per day or reaches the 90–100-ton demand range.
  • Contract performance: The key commercial threshold is the approximately 70-ton take-or-pay minimum and the treatment of steam delivered above it.
  • Customer coverage: Evidence that the system replaces a larger share of Tempo’s 90–100-ton requirement would show progress toward the company’s full-replacement target.
  • Emissions accounting: The approximately 6,200-ton annual CO₂ figure is an expectation; a later report would be needed to establish measured avoidance.

Why this milestone matters

Industrial facilities often need continuous, high-temperature process heat, making steam production a more demanding decarbonization application than ordinary building heating. A system that can reliably exceed its modeled minimum while using grid electricity and on-site solar could improve the economics of replacing a fossil-fuel boiler. However, the commercial case depends on repeatable operation, not a single commissioning reading.

For now, the clearest reading is narrow but meaningful: BrenX has reported approximately 85 tons of steam per operating day at Tempo, above the project’s approximately 70-ton modeled and contracted floor, while the system remains short of the customer’s stated demand range and its long-term performance is still unverified.
