Bread Savings was advertising a 4.00% APY on its High Yield Savings account on October 7, 2026, with a $100 minimum opening balance. That makes it worth comparing for savers focused on yield, but the advertised rate can change and the public product lineup is centered on savings accounts and CDs rather than a broad range of banking products. Whether it fits depends on the current rate, the account terms, and how you need to access your money.

What is Bread Savings?

Bread Savings is Bread Financial’s consumer deposit brand. It was previously known as Comenity Direct; Bread Financial announced the name change in April 2022. Bread Financial’s announcement explains the rebranding.

Bread Financial’s 2025 Form 10-K describes its retail deposit products and reports $8.5 billion in direct-to-consumer deposits as of December 31, 2025. That is a company-wide figure, not an account-level safety measure or a guarantee about any individual customer’s coverage. The filing also identifies rates, customer service, and digital banking capabilities as areas of competition among deposit providers.

What rates and account options does Bread Savings offer?

Bread’s official product page, observed October 7, 2026, listed a High Yield Savings account and a three-month CD. Rates are advertised terms at a point in time; the savings APY is not a fixed promise. Check the current product page before opening an account.

Product Advertised rate on October 7, 2026 Opening minimum Other listed terms
High Yield Savings 4.00% APY $100 Interest accrues and compounds daily, according to Bread. The page also says interest can be earned on balances up to $10 million; that is not the same as $10 million of FDIC insurance.
Three-month CD 3.90% APY $1,500 An early withdrawal penalty applies. At maturity, the CD automatically renews unless the customer cashes out during the 10-day grace period.

These figures are a dated snapshot, not a rate comparison against other banks. A parameterized Bread page surfaced an older rate snapshot, so use the live product page rather than relying on a saved or search-indexed figure. The parameterized page illustrates why checking the current offer matters.

Is Bread Savings worth it?

It may suit someone who wants a savings account or CD and is comfortable evaluating a focused deposit lineup. The 4.00% savings APY observed on October 7, 2026 was attractive as a headline figure, but a rate alone cannot establish that it is the best choice: it can change, and the account’s access rules and fees matter to the actual return and convenience.

The public product listing confirms savings and CD products, and Google Play lists a Bread Savings app for deposit customers. Those facts do not establish a complete inventory of account functions or support a verdict on app quality. Google Play’s listing identifies the app.

Does Bread Savings have fees?

Bread’s product page says, “No hidden fees,” but that marketing statement is not a substitute for the account’s fee schedule and disclosures. The available product information does not establish the complete current fee schedule, transfer limits, or withdrawal mechanics. Read the linked account disclosures before opening, especially for fees or restrictions that could affect how you use the account.

How much do you need to open a Bread Savings account?

The High Yield Savings account had a $100 minimum opening balance on the official page observed October 7, 2026. The three-month CD listed a $1,500 opening minimum on the same date. Confirm the current minimums in the live offer before applying.

Is Bread Savings FDIC-insured?

Bread’s product page identifies the deposit account as FDIC-insured. The general FDIC limit is $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, per ownership category; actual coverage depends on ownership and how a depositor’s accounts at that bank are aggregated. The FDIC’s consumer guidance explains deposit insurance. Bread’s statement that interest can be earned on balances up to $10 million should not be read as standard FDIC coverage of $10 million for one depositor at one bank.
