CHOICE lists the SI 5184 with an Eloxal soleplate, while a New Zealand retailer lists a black SI5184BK variant with a 330 ml tank and specified steam outputs. The names are close, but the available listings do not establish that SI 5184 and SI5184BK are interchangeable model codes or that every specification carries across markets. Before buying or comparing prices, confirm the model printed on the product or packaging, the retailer’s full model code, the plug and rated voltage for your country, and the warranty terms that apply to that sale.

Using the iron on different fabrics
The Braun manual covers several FreeStyle 5 types—12750000, 12750001, 12750002, 12750004, 12750005, 12750007, 12750008 and 12750009. Check the type and regional instructions for your iron rather than assuming every manual detail applies to every SI 5184 variant. These are the manual’s broad recommendations; garment care labels take priority. If a label prohibits steam or ironing, follow that restriction.
Cleaning and descaling
The manual says descaling frequency depends on water hardness and how often the iron is used. It warns against commercial descaling products. Use the cleaning and descaling procedure in the instructions for the exact iron type, rather than applying a generic method or a chemical descaler.

- Automatic shut-off behavior.
- Local warranty, current price and availability.
Use specifications from the same market and exact model wherever possible. A higher steam-output figure or a larger tank alone does not establish that one iron performs better overall.
