There is a credible case that repeat sponsorship can build familiarity and brand consideration, but public evidence does not show that returning Bigg Boss sponsors earn more incremental return than first-time sponsors. Bigg Boss has repeat advertisers and a large multi-language sponsor base; those facts indicate demand, not proof of sponsor-level ROI. The available studies and campaign examples suggest ways sponsorship may work, but none isolates the extra effect of renewing.
What the public evidence says about Bigg Boss sponsorship
The strongest Bigg Boss-specific brand evidence is a study by Unomer Technologies, reported by The Economic Times on 14 August 2024. Across 19 categories associated with Bigg Boss Tamil and Malayalam, regular viewers had higher reported brand metrics than light viewers and non-viewers:
- 57% higher top-of-mind awareness.
- 26% higher brand consideration.
- 33% higher purchase intent.
These are comparisons between viewer groups, not a controlled test of sponsorship renewals. Regular viewers may differ from other viewers in ways that affect brand measures, and the published report does not isolate exposure to a sponsor or show that returning for another season caused the reported differences. The report also relays advertiser comments about growth and store footfall; those are company claims, not independent causal evaluations. The Economic Times’ account of the Unomer study is useful context, but not proof of incremental renewal returns.

In a 4 September 2026 announcement, JioStar reported more than 95 sponsors across six Bigg Boss language editions. It also described both long-standing partners deepening their involvement and first-time advertisers joining. That is evidence of a broad, active sponsorship marketplace, but sponsor count and renewal do not reveal what any advertiser gained relative to its spend.
#1 Best Overall
JioStar also cited franchise-level figures from 2025: over 500 million reach, more than 438 billion viewing minutes, and 47% year-on-year engagement growth. These are company-reported measures of the franchise, not independently comparable outcomes for individual sponsors. They cannot be treated as a sponsor’s unique reach, incremental sales, or return on investment. JioStar’s announcement lists activity across Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam editions, showing the franchise’s multi-market breadth without supplying comparable sponsor prices or sponsor-level ROI.
Why a sponsorship can become more valuable over time
Repeat participation has a plausible mechanism: repeated exposure can make a brand more familiar, while a longer relationship may give the advertiser more opportunities to connect its product benefit to the show. But duration is only one part of effectiveness. Audience fit, placement, frequency, creative quality, activation beyond the show, cost and market conditions can all change between seasons.
Broader broadcast research points to a duration effect
Channel 4’s 8 March 2024 release describes a 15-year UK broadcast sponsorship dataset covering almost 240 sponsorships, 666 research waves and more than 400,000 viewers. It reports average uplifts among viewers versus non-viewers of 8 percentage points in awareness, 8 points in consideration, 7 in brand perceptions, 5 in relevance and 6 in trust. It also reports that sponsorship running for more than two years had a 20% higher boost in consideration than sponsorship lasting one to two years.
This is a reason to test whether continuity helps; it is not a Bigg Boss result, a sales increase or a 20% ROI gain. The study covers UK broadcast sponsorships, so it should be treated as directional context rather than a forecast for an Indian reality-show campaign. Channel 4’s release explains the scope of its findings.
A Bigg Boss case shows how integration can work
A WARC case study dated 28 September 2014 describes Dabur Chyawanprash aligning its immunity positioning with Bigg Boss tasks that gave contestants immunity. The case summary reports that 44% of respondents recalled and associated the immunity-voting window with Dabur Chyawanprash, and that the campaign helped achieve 20% volume growth.
The example illustrates a creative link between a brand benefit and a show mechanic. It is one historical campaign, and the accessible summary does not provide a control group or compare a renewed sponsor with a first-time sponsor. Its reported results are not a benchmark for what a new or returning advertiser should expect. The WARC case summary does not establish a renewal effect.
Renewal is a signal of perceived value, not proof of added return
A brand may renew because it values continuity, audience access, category visibility or a chance to develop a more integrated campaign. Those can be rational reasons to continue even when sales impact is difficult to isolate. They remain different from evidence that the second season delivered more incremental return than the first.

Historical reporting offers examples of repeat participation without resolving that distinction. Business Standard reported in September 2015 that Snapdeal returned as Bigg Boss title sponsor after sponsoring the previous season. The report also quoted industry commentary that continued presence could widen exposure to a target group and increase advertising inventory. It did not report a season-over-season outcome comparison for Snapdeal. The report on Snapdeal’s return demonstrates renewal, not measured incremental ROI.
Similarly, an ETBrandEquity report in 2025 summarized network-shared campaign outcomes: a leading dairy brand reported a 20% increase in active users nationally and 48% in Hyderabad, while a South Indian ice-cream brand saw search volume rise 2.1 times during a season. The report also covered reach, watch time and OTT figures. These are campaign or platform claims; they do not establish that renewal caused the outcomes or that results exceeded sponsorship costs. ETBrandEquity’s account supplies examples of reported activity, not a controlled comparison of sponsor tenure.

A useful renewal decision compares the first and subsequent seasons using consistent definitions, a credible baseline and, where possible, a comparable control group. Brands should separate the effect of the sponsorship itself from changes in spend, creative, distribution and market conditions.
- Record exposure consistently. Track verified reach and frequency by language market, placement type and share of voice. Separate linear TV, streaming, social clips and in-show integrations instead of combining them into one exposure total.
- Measure brand outcomes with the same method. Use comparable surveys for aided and unaided awareness, correct sponsor attribution, consideration, relevance, trust and purchase intent. Compare exposed and control audiences whose composition is as similar as practicable.
- Track commercial outcomes against a baseline. Measure category-adjusted sales, active users, store visits, search and conversion, documenting baseline periods, geographic controls and campaign timing.
- Include the full cost of participation. Compare total sponsorship and activation spend with incremental outcomes, accounting for any additional integrations or distribution bought in the renewal period.
- Evaluate creative fit and fatigue. Check whether the brand benefit connects naturally to the show and whether repeated appearances remain recognizable without becoming intrusive.
Call the second season incremental only when its outcome improves against a credible baseline or comparison after accounting for changes in investment, creative, audience and market conditions. If that evidence is unavailable, describe renewal as a strategic choice—not a demonstrated increase in ROI.

What to compare before renewing
Bigg Boss’s editions create options across languages and markets, but the public sources cited here do not provide comparable package prices or sponsor-specific returns. An advertiser evaluating alternatives should compare:
- Language and market fit, including audience composition and verified reach.
- Placement and integration depth, along with exposure frequency and duration.
- Creative fit: whether the brand can be meaningfully connected to the programme.
- Measurement quality: whether exposure and outcomes can be tracked consistently.
- Total cost against measured incremental outcomes, rather than headline reach alone.
The decision is not simply whether the show is large or whether other brands returned. It is whether a particular sponsorship package reaches the intended audience and produces outcomes that justify its full cost.
