“Bose 300” can mean more than one product; this comparison is between the Bose Smart Soundbar 300 and Bose Smart Soundbar 700, not the separate Home Speaker 300. Bose lists the Soundbar 300 as sold from 2020 to 2024 and the Soundbar 700 from 2018 to 2023, so both are discontinued product lines. The 700 has more speakers and a stronger documented feature set, while the right choice depends on your TV connections, room, and the condition and price of the specific unit.
How the Bose Smart Soundbar 300 and 700 differ
Bose lists five speakers in the Smart Soundbar 300 and seven in the Smart Soundbar 700. Both support Dolby Digital. Speaker count is a hardware distinction, not proof on its own that one will sound better in every room.

What the 700 adds
More speakers and Bose room technologies
The 700’s seven-speaker arrangement is its clearest documented hardware difference from the 300’s five. At launch, Bose described the 700 as using PhaseGuide and ADAPTiQ. Bose’s August 28, 2018 announcement said both new soundbars used ADAPTiQ to acoustically adjust to their surroundings; that is Bose’s description of its own technology, not an independent test result. See the Bose 2018 announcement.

Independent comparison findings
RTINGS’ comparison, updated June 10, 2026, reports eARC and room correction for the 700, along with EQ presets and better results on several tested measures than the 300. Those are RTINGS’ test-based findings; they should not be read as a guarantee that every listener or room will prefer the 700. Review its Bose Smart Soundbar 700 vs. 300 comparison for its evaluation.
Check your TV and setup before choosing
Match the connection
The 300’s Bose specification lists HDMI ARC and optical. The 700’s available connection details vary across documentation; RTINGS reports eARC support. Check the ports on the exact bar and your television, and confirm whether you need ARC or eARC before buying. Do not assume that a listing’s short description captures the regional model’s full port details.

Consider room fit and controls
Measure the space below your television and check the bar’s dimensions on its official specification page. If room adjustment matters, the 700 has the more clearly documented feature set: Bose described ADAPTiQ and PhaseGuide, and RTINGS reports room correction. Wireless audio and assistant availability can vary by location and service, so verify the features you expect rather than relying on a generic model name.

Bose lists its Bass Module 700 as compatible with either soundbar, and lists the Surround Speakers 700 for both as well. These are optional additions, not prerequisites for using either bar; include their cost when comparing complete setups. Bose’s soundbar and accessory set information lists compatibility. Bose says the Surround Speakers 700 connect wirelessly to the bar but still require electrical power and a speaker wire from receiver to speaker; see the Bose UK product page.

Buying a discontinued Bose soundbar
Because Bose’s listed sales periods have ended for both models, current listings may be remaining stock, refurbished units, or used products. Availability and pricing depend on the seller and were not established here. Before purchasing, verify:
- The listing says Smart Soundbar 300 or Smart Soundbar 700, not Home Speaker 300.
- The unit’s condition and whether it is new, refurbished, or used.
- Which remote, cables, and other accessories are included.
- The seller, warranty coverage, and return terms.
- That the TV connection and any required streaming or voice features work for your setup.
Bose identifies the Home Speaker 300 as a separate product, distinct from its soundbars; see the Home Speaker 300 product page and Bose SimpleSync compatibility information.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the 700 if its documented room-adjustment features, reported eARC support, or tested advantages in RTINGS’ comparison fit your needs—and the specific unit is in acceptable condition at a suitable seller price.
- Consider the 300 if its HDMI ARC or optical connection and five-speaker Dolby Digital setup meet your needs, and you find a verified unit at a compelling price.
- Choose neither without checking further if your TV requires a connection or capability you cannot confirm for the individual listing, or if warranty and return terms are unclear.
The 700 is the more feature-rich model on the available documentation, but its discontinued status and the condition of a particular listing matter more than model rank alone.
