The Bosch Serie 6 SPU68M05AU is a discontinued Australian-market 45cm slimline dishwasher, so it is now chiefly relevant to people weighing up a remaining-stock or second-hand unit—or checking whether to keep one they already own. Bosch lists it as no longer available. Its key practical strengths are a compact built-under format, flexible racks and a broad set of wash programs; the main buying cautions are exact installation fit and the lack of public independent test scores for this model.
Verdict: who should consider the SPU68M05AU?
This model may suit a kitchen that needs a narrow under-bench dishwasher and has the exact installation space it requires. Bosch specifies 11 international place settings, a third-level cutlery drawer and adjustable baskets. Those details make the layout worth checking if you are replacing a similar appliance, but they do not establish how well it washes or dries in independent testing.
It is not a straightforward new-appliance recommendation: Bosch Australia says the product is no longer available, and CHOICE also marks it discontinued. If you find one, treat it as remaining stock or a used appliance rather than assuming it is currently sold new. Bosch’s official status is on its Australian product page.
Will it fit your kitchen?
Bosch identifies the SPU68M05AU as a 45 cm built-under model. Its overall dimensions are 815 × 448 × 573 mm (H × W × D); the specified installation niche is 815–875 × 450 × 550 mm. Bosch lists 1,150 mm depth with the door open to 90 degrees. Measure the cabinet opening and available door clearance rather than relying on the “45 cm” category alone.

The specification sheet lists a 220–240 V supply, an Australian plug, a 1.75 m electrical cord, a 1.65 m inlet hose and a 2.05 m outlet hose. Ask an installer to check the actual connection layout and local requirements. Before replacing an existing dishwasher, consult the model-specific installation instructions and verify hose and power clearance. Programs, options and rack layout
Six wash programs
Bosch lists these programs: Pots & Pans 70°C, Auto 45–65°C, Eco 45°C, Glass 40°C, Quick 45°C and Pre-rinse. Bosch describes Glass 40°C as “gentle cleaning for your delicate glassware”; that is the manufacturer’s feature description, not an independent test result.

Two options
VarioSpeed is described by Bosch as shortening wash time by up to 50%. IntensiveZone applies more powerful cleaning in the bottom basket. These are Bosch’s descriptions of the options; the available evidence does not establish their real-world cleaning or time-saving results for a particular load.
Three-level loading arrangement
The VarioDrawer provides a third level for cutlery and utensils. VarioFlex baskets and a three-level Rackmatic top basket give users options for adjusting the loading space. This arrangement can help accommodate different item shapes, but the rack names alone do not prove better washing performance.

Water, energy, noise and cycle time
Bosch’s Australian specification sheet gives 10.9 litres of water per wash and 205 kWh of energy per year based on the Eco 45°C program. It lists a 130-minute reference-program cycle and a noise figure of 46 dB(A) re 1 pW. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from an independent test of this review.
CHOICE’s public listing repeats the claimed water and energy figures and shows 3.5 stars for energy and 4 stars for water. The listing also displays a $1,349 price, which is a historical listing figure rather than a current offer. CHOICE keeps its Expert Rating and detailed washing, drying, energy, water, noise, cycle-time and reliability results behind membership, so those scores cannot be assessed from the public page. What the feature list does—and does not—tell you
Other features named by Bosch include AquaStop, EcoSilence Drive, ActiveWater load adjustment, AquaSensor, LoadSensor, AutoBrilliance detergent and rinse-aid sensing, DosageAssist, a three-stage filter, a DuoPower double spray arm, alternating spray-arm washing, a remaining-time display, a 1–24-hour delay start, a rinse-aid indicator and a child door lock. Bosch’s product page says the model is not Wi-Fi enabled.
These specifications describe the equipment and controls; they are not substitutes for independent comparative results. No hands-on test was performed for this review. ProductReview.com.au shows six owner reviews and a displayed score of 4.3 at the time accessed in 2026, including both positive accounts and a strongly negative account describing declining cleaning and a paid service visit. That small, self-selected set cannot establish typical performance or reliability. The listing also discloses affiliate partnerships. Read the owner-review page as anecdotal feedback, not controlled testing.

Bosch’s variant-specific support pages provide manuals, installation instructions, specification sheets and a route to original spare parts. Before ordering a part, identify the full variant suffix and confirm the exact part number with Bosch. The available information does not establish stock for any particular part.
Bosch’s product sheet lists a two-year appliance warranty and a 10-year inner-tub rust-through warranty. These are historical product-sheet terms, not a guarantee that a particular used unit or current claim is eligible. Check the applicable terms directly with Bosch before relying on warranty coverage.
