The Bosch SMS6HCB01A is a 60 cm Series 6 freestanding dishwasher in brushed black steel, with 15 place settings, Wi-Fi connectivity and an Australian plug. Bosch rates it at 4 energy stars, 5.5 water stars and 44 dB(A); its Eco AU figures are 11 litres per wash and 245 kWh a year when that program is run seven times weekly. Those figures make it a well-specified option on paper, but they are not a substitute for independent cleaning or drying test results.
What the Bosch SMS6HCB01A is
This is the Australian-market SMS6HCB01A: a Series 6, 60 cm freestanding model with a brushed black steel anti-fingerprint finish. Bosch lists an AU plug and 15 place settings. Do not confuse it with the visually similar SMP6HCB01A built-under model; verify the full model number and plug before buying. Bosch Australia product page and Bosch specification sheet.
Will it fit your kitchen?
Bosch specifies dimensions of 845 × 600 × 600 mm (H × W × D). The sheet calls it freestanding, with the possibility of built-under installation. That does not by itself confirm that it will fit a particular bench opening or connection point: measure the available height, width and depth, and allow for door movement, hoses, power access and installation clearances. Check the current installation instructions and consult a qualified installer if site suitability is uncertain. The sheet gives a 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz supply and 2400 W connection rating.

Ratings and consumption figures are useful for comparing like-for-like Australian models, provided the program and test assumptions match. Actual water and power use will depend on the selected cycle, loading, household habits and installation. Bosch lists ExtraQuiet as a wash program, but the available specifications do not provide a separate noise figure for it.

Cycle selection
The specification sheet lists Eco Wash, Auto Wash, Auto Gentle, Pots & Pans, Quick 1h, Express wash, ExtraQuiet and Favourite. Machine Care is also listed. The named special options are Remote Start, Extra Dry, HygienePlus and SpeedPerfect. The document does not establish comparative cleaning results for these programs or options.
Basket flexibility
Loading features include a VarioDrawer third level, an adjustable upper basket with three-level RackmaticPlus adjustment, foldable racks and a movable cutlery basket. Bosch also specifies an Extra Clean Zone in the upper basket, with three rotating nozzles intended for more challenging dish soil. That is a feature description, not proof that it cleans better than competing models. Consider whether the third level and adjustable basket suit the dishes and cutlery you regularly load.

Drying
Bosch identifies heat-exchanger drying, described as hydroDry heat-exchanger-assisted condensation drying. Extra Dry is an option that extends drying time. The manufacturer specifications do not provide independent drying-test results, so they cannot establish how dry particular plastics or other items will be after a cycle.

Home Connect and remote start
The dishwasher supports Wi-Fi and Bosch Home Connect app functions. Remote Start requires setup and appropriate appliance settings; Bosch’s manual says Home Connect availability depends on the country. App control also depends on Wi-Fi reception and the service being available where you live. Check the Bosch user manual for configuration and operating guidance.

What independent review evidence is available?
CHOICE has a page titled “Bosch SMS6HCB01A review” and identifies Denis Gallagher as a senior project officer working on dishwasher testing. The accessible page text does not disclose this model’s test score, results, verdict or publication date, so it does not support a claim that CHOICE recommends or rates it a particular way. Accordingly, Bosch’s figures and feature descriptions support a specification-based assessment, not a conclusion about tested cleaning, drying, reliability or comparative value. - Use detergent intended for domestic dishwashers. Bosch’s manual recommends rinse aid for optimum drying.
- For replacement parts, use the appliance’s full identification details to check the correct match. Bosch links support and spare parts from its product page.
- Bosch describes AquaStop Plus as lifetime anti-flood protection. Treat that as the manufacturer’s stated feature and check the applicable terms rather than assuming coverage beyond them.
- Before ordering, confirm the Australian SMS6HCB01A, AU plug, live stock, delivery and installation arrangements, and warranty terms.
