The precise configuration depends on the market and full model number, so check your region’s specification and installation documents before buying.
What the SMP6HCB01A is—and which market it serves
Bosch identifies the SMP6HCB01A in Australia and New Zealand as a Series 6 built-under dishwasher with a 60 cm width, brushed black steel finish and anti-fingerprint treatment. It is designed to sit under a worktop, rather than operate as a freestanding appliance. Bosch lists capacity at 15 place settings. Do not assume that every appliance carrying the base model number has identical documentation or parts. Bosch support pages also list regional variants with suffixes, including UK /21 and /22 and US /51. Match the full E-Nr on the appliance or listing to the local manual, installation sheet and support page before relying on a feature or ordering a part.
Will it fit your kitchen?
Start with the cabinet opening, not the appliance’s exterior dimensions. Bosch Australia lists the product dimensions as 815 × 598 × 573 mm (H × W × D). Bosch New Zealand specifies a required niche of 815–875 × 600 × 550 mm. These are different measurements: the niche is the cabinet space required for installation, while the Australia figures describe the appliance. They are not interchangeable.

Use the installation instructions for your market and full E-Nr to confirm the opening, clearances, connections and door movement. Bosch UK support documentation lists a depth of 1,150 mm with the door open at 90 degrees; confirm the corresponding clearance in the documentation for your own regional model.
Capacity, racks and loading
Bosch rates the unit for 15 place settings. The listed loading features include a third level/VarioDrawer for smaller items, an adjustable Rackmatic upper basket and an Extra Clean Zone intended for heavily soiled tableware such as muesli bowls. The Extra Clean Zone can help target stubborn food residue, but it is not a no-cost option: Bosch’s model-specific manual warns, “Consumption will increase if you operate your appliance with the Extra Clean Zone switched on.”

DosageAssist is also listed; it is designed to help distribute detergent tablets during a wash. A third loading level and adjustable upper basket offer flexibility, but capacity ratings do not tell you whether your usual mix of cookware, plates and glasses will fit comfortably. Check the rack layout in the regional product documentation against the items you wash most often.

Bosch Australia lists seven programs: Eco, Auto, Auto Gentle, Pots & Pans, Quick 1h, ExtraQuiet and Favourite. It also lists Machine Care, Remote Start through Home Connect, Extra Dry, Intensive Zone, HygienePlus and SpeedPerfect. Names and available combinations can vary by market, so treat the Australian program list as specific to that market rather than a guaranteed global menu.

Actual consumption will depend on the selected program, loading, options and household use. In particular, Bosch explicitly warns that switching on Extra Clean Zone increases consumption. Use the local energy and water labels when comparing appliances sold in the same market.

Drying, safety and the automatic-door question
Bosch lists heat-exchanger drying and AquaStop on the Australian specification material. These are manufacturer-stated features; the available specifications do not provide independent drying or leak-protection test results. Extra Dry extends drying time, but Bosch does not publish a quantified improvement in the cited material.
Automatic door opening at the end of a cycle is not confirmed in the retrieved Bosch feature lists for this model. If that behavior matters to you, look for it explicitly in the manual or regional product specification matching your full E-Nr, rather than inferring it from the drying system or another Bosch dishwasher.

What this review can—and cannot—establish
This assessment is based on Bosch’s regional product pages, specification material, support documentation and the model-specific user manual. It is not a hands-on test. The available evidence does not establish controlled independent cleaning or drying performance, comparative laboratory noise results, long-term reliability, or representative owner satisfaction. Bosch product pages showed 4.7/5 from 83 reviews in Australia and 4.7/5 from 82 reviews in New Zealand when accessed on 7 October 2026; those manufacturer-site counts can change and are not independent performance testing.
Verdict: a strong feature set if the fit and market details check out
The SMP6HCB01A is worth considering if you need a full-size built-under dishwasher, value a third loading level and connected controls, and find its 15-place-setting capacity and listed programs suitable for your kitchen. Its published water figure is 11.1 L per Eco wash, while the Australian energy and star-rating figures use Australian-specific conditions and labels. Before purchase, confirm the full E-Nr, niche dimensions, door clearance and the exact regional program and drying features.
