The Bosch SMP66MX05A is a 60 cm built-under Series 6 dishwasher with a 15-place capacity, but Bosch Australia lists this model as no longer available. It may still matter if you are considering a used unit or already own one. Its published specifications cover six programs, flexible racks, a 44 dB noise rating and Eco-cycle resource figures; they are manufacturer claims, not results from hands-on testing for this review.
Is the Bosch SMP66MX05A still available?
Bosch Australia marks the SMP66MX05A as no longer available. That confirms its status on the manufacturer’s Australian product page, but does not establish whether a seller has old stock or a second-hand unit. Treat it as a discontinued model rather than a currently stocked new appliance, and check availability directly with any seller before making a purchase.
Bosch continues to provide a support page for the SMP66MX05A/01, with a user manual, installation instructions, supplements, a specification sheet, a CAD file, self-help information and a spare-parts lookup. The listed support is useful for current owners, although availability of any particular part can change.
Will it fit your kitchen?
Bosch identifies this as a 60 cm built-under dishwasher, finished in Black inox, with a stainless-steel interior tub and hidden controls integrated into the top of the door. Its published dimensions are 815–875 mm high, 598 mm wide and 573 mm deep. Capacity is listed as 15 place settings.

Those external dimensions are a starting point, not a complete installation check. Before buying a used unit or replacing an existing dishwasher, consult the model’s installation instructions for cutout, clearances, connections and service access. A nominal 60 cm width does not by itself confirm compatibility with a particular cabinet opening.
What programs and options does it offer?
The manufacturer lists six programs. The two Auto cycles are intended for different soil levels, while the Eco and Glass cycles run at lower stated temperatures. The two Quick cycles have fixed durations; the 29-minute option is expressly described as an express-only cycle and requires rinse aid.

Available options are SpeedPerfect, HalfLoad and ExtraDry. Bosch says SpeedPerfect can make a program up to 50% faster; that is a manufacturer-stated maximum, not a guarantee for every cycle or load. The Machine Care program is described by Bosch’s specification sheet as helping remove grime and limescale buildup for optimum performance.

The listed loading features include a VarioDrawer third level for cutlery and utensils, a three-level adjustable upper basket called RackmaticPlus, foldable supports, a movable lower cutlery basket, and racks for tall glasses and champagne glasses. These features indicate several ways to adapt the racks, but no hands-on loading test is available to establish how well particular dishes or cookware fit.

How noisy is it, and how does drying work?
Bosch specifies a noise level of 44 dB and a heat-exchanger drying system. An InfoLight on the floor indicates that the dishwasher is operating. These are manufacturer-listed features; they do not establish how the unit sounds in a particular kitchen or how dry a given load will be.
One ProductReview.com.au owner reported that the top-of-door display went dark when the door was closed, making the remaining time unavailable to view. The reviewer also described the machine as quiet and praised its cleaning and drying. This is one person’s account, not evidence of a model-wide fault or of how often owners encounter the display behavior.

What are its energy and water figures?
Bosch’s Australian specification sheet, indexed as published approximately 2024, lists 12.2 litres per Eco wash under a cold-water connection and the applicable Australian/New Zealand test method. It lists annual energy consumption of 245 kWh based on running the Eco program seven times per week. The exact issue date of the sheet was not confirmed, so the approximate indexing date should not be read as a verified publication year.
The same sheet lists a 4-star energy rating and 5-star WELS water rating, with WELS registration number D02607. Bosch’s product page also lists 4.0 energy stars and 5.0 water stars. These are manufacturer-listed figures, not a calculation of a household’s actual bill. Consumption and cost will vary with use, selected programs, water connection and local tariffs.

What do independent reviews establish?
CHOICE has a review page for the model and identifies it as a built-in dishwasher. Its publicly visible page includes claimed specifications such as 15 place settings, 245 kWh per year and 12.2 litres per wash, but its Expert Rating and washing, drying, energy, noise and program-time test results are behind membership access. The public information therefore does not support a claim about the model’s CHOICE score or comparative test performance.
ProductReview.com.au shows one review with a 4.0 overall rating. That small sample can illustrate one owner’s experience, but cannot establish reliability, typical satisfaction or the prevalence of a problem.
