BOQ does not offer one packaged “household” account. Instead, a household can combine a transaction account with one or more separate savings accounts or a term deposit. BOQ may suit people comfortable banking through myBOQ and, for some savings accounts, meeting monthly activity requirements. The right choice depends on how you use the account, who is eligible, and when you may need access to the money.
What does “BOQ Household” include?
For household banking, BOQ’s personal-account range includes an Everyday transaction account, Future Saver, Smart Saver, Simple Saver, and term deposits. These are separate products rather than a single bundle; compare them by purpose and account conditions, not by an unverified headline rate. BOQ’s account overview lists the range. Rates are variable or subject to change, and the accessible rate fields were not available as reliable figures here.
Which BOQ accounts can a household use?
| Account | Best suited to | Key condition or access point |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday Account | Day-to-day transactions | No monthly account-keeping fee; other fees and charges may apply. Available through myBOQ app and Internet Banking. |
| Future Saver | Savings for eligible customers aged 14–35 | Bonus interest generally requires qualifying monthly deposits and transactions; linked Everyday Account required. Converts to Smart Saver at age 36. |
| Smart Saver | Savings for customers aged 36 and over | Check current eligibility and rate conditions with BOQ; for a joint Future Saver, the eldest holder’s age determines conversion. |
| Simple Saver | Savings without monthly interest criteria | BOQ describes a four-month introductory offer for eligible new accounts opened on or after 8 September 2026; confirm current rates and offer terms. |
| Term deposit | Savings that can be left invested for a set period | BOQ lists terms of 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, and 12 months and a A$5,000 minimum investment; access before maturity is restricted by product terms. |
Can you open a joint BOQ account?
Yes. BOQ permits two account holders on a joint account and lists Everyday, Future Saver, Smart Saver, and Simple Saver as available for joint applications. Future Saver’s age eligibility still applies. For joint Future Saver accounts, BOQ says the eldest holder’s age governs when the account converts to Smart Saver. See BOQ’s joint-account information and the Future Saver conditions.
Does BOQ charge monthly account fees?
BOQ advertises no monthly account-keeping fee for its Everyday Account. It comes with a Visa debit card that draws on money already in the account and can be used where Visa and EFTPOS are accepted. That does not mean the account is entirely fee-free: BOQ says other fees and charges may apply, including certain charges when using the Australian card overseas. Check the current Everyday Account information and fee and transaction-limit documents before opening.

How do you qualify for BOQ Future Saver bonus interest?
For eligible Future Saver holders, BOQ’s stated monthly criteria are at least A$1,000 in qualifying deposits from another Australian bank into the linked Everyday Account, plus at least five eligible transactions in the prior month. These are account conditions, not a guaranteed rate: the interest rate is variable, and if the criteria are not met, BOQ says the base rate applies. BOQ waives the criteria for account holders aged 14–17. Check BOQ’s current Future Saver terms for qualifying transaction definitions and applicable rates.
Which BOQ savings option fits your household?
Choose a transaction account for everyday spending
The Everyday Account is the account in this range designed for purchases and day-to-day transactions. It can be managed with the myBOQ mobile app or myBOQ Internet Banking. Its no-monthly-account-keeping-fee feature may suit a household looking to avoid that particular recurring charge, while the current fee document remains important for other possible charges. Consider Future Saver or Smart Saver if you can meet the conditions
Future Saver is positioned for ages 14–35 and is linked to an Everyday Account. Its bonus-interest criteria require a household to plan external deposits and eligible transactions each month, unless the holder is 14–17 and the criteria are waived. BOQ says Future Saver converts to Smart Saver when the holder turns 36; in a joint account, the eldest holder’s age sets that transition. Because rates are variable, compare the current rate and the base rate before deciding whether the activity is worthwhile. Future Saver information.

BOQ describes Simple Saver as having no monthly interest criteria. The account overview also describes a four-month introductory offer for eligible new accounts opened on or after 8 September 2026. Consider a term deposit if you can leave funds invested
BOQ lists 3-, 4-, 6-, 7-, 9-, and 12-month terms and a A$5,000 minimum investment on its comparison page. A term deposit is less suitable for money you may need to withdraw on demand: confirm early-withdrawal conditions, the current rate, and the funding deadline in the product documents. BOQ says the offered rate may change and that the rate on the opening date applies if the deposit is funded within five days. Review BOQ’s savings and term-deposit comparison.
