Yes. The BOOX Note Air6 C is a 10.3-inch color E Ink Android tablet, not a locked-down e-reader. It runs Android 16, includes Google Play, accepts third-party apps, and combines a pressure-sensitive pen with BOOX’s note, reading and synchronization tools. Its Kaleido 3 display renders color diagrams and highlights, while its 3,700mAh battery capacity is published without an official hours-per-charge estimate. The practical experience therefore depends heavily on lighting, wireless radios, refresh settings and which Android apps you run.

BOOX announced the Note Air6 C on September 15, 2026, with a launch price of $579.99. The launch announcement named BOOX Shop and Amazon as sales channels; availability, tax and later pricing can vary by country and date.
Can the Note Air6 C run Android apps?
It can. Android 16 and Google Play access make the Note Air6 C an open Android ePaper tablet. You can sign in to Google Play, install compatible applications and move between them with the tablet-style dock and app switcher. The 6GB of RAM, an upgraded octa-core processor and BOOX Super Refresh technology are intended to keep scrolling, page turns and app switching responsive.

Those are manufacturer claims, not an independent benchmark, and the result will differ by application, document complexity and refresh mode. E Ink remains a different medium from a conventional phone or tablet: animation, video and rapidly changing screens can show ghosting or feel less fluid even when the processor is fast.

Installing an app
- Connect the tablet to Wi-Fi and complete Android setup.
- Open the Play Store from the Apps screen and sign in with a Google account.
- Search for the application, check its Android compatibility and tap Install.
- Launch it from the Apps screen or place it in the dock for quicker access.
- Open the BOOX refresh settings for that app if text, scrolling or animation needs a different balance between speed and image quality.
App support is still app-specific. A program that depends on high-frame-rate animation, an always-on location service, DRM behavior or a particular phone sensor may not behave like it does on an LCD phone. Treat the Note Air6 C as an Android reader and writing computer first, and verify the applications you rely on before making it your only device.
How handwriting works on the Note Air6 C
The supplied BOOX Pen3 detects 4,096 pressure levels. In the native Notes application you can choose among seven brush types, change stroke width and color, draw geometric shapes and select content with the Lasso tool. Outlines, tags and search help turn a stack of handwritten pages into a usable knowledge base rather than a collection of images.
Converting handwriting to text
- Open or create a note in the native Notes app.
- Write with the Pen3, leaving enough separation between words for recognition.
- Choose the handwriting-recognition or convert-to-text command, then review the result for names, symbols and technical terms.
- Edit the converted text in the note or copy it into another Android application.
Recognition is a convenience, not a guarantee of perfect transcription. Neat block lettering, adequate spacing and a clean page generally give the converter less ambiguity than rushed cursive, mathematical notation or heavily decorated pages.
Sending meeting points to a calendar
BOOX describes a workflow in which the Lasso tool selects handwritten meeting points, converts them to text and sends them to a calendar. The exact destination and prompts can depend on the calendar application and current firmware. Check the generated title, date, time and attendees before saving an event; recognition should not be allowed to silently change a deadline.

Using Dual Notes
Dual Notes places two note views side by side. This is useful when you need to copy material from one page to another, compare a draft with a reference or keep a running summary beside a source document. Split-screen space is narrower than a full-page view, so switch back to single-pane editing for diagrams that need the entire canvas.
How to sync handwritten notes and annotations
BOOX supports several paths rather than one universal sync folder. Its documentation says book annotations and notes can synchronize through Onyx cloud, appear through push.boox.com for the US server or eur.boox.com for the EU server, and be viewed with BOOX Assistant on a mobile device. BOOXDrop provides two-way transfers over the same local network between the tablet and a computer or phone.
Cloud synchronization workflow
- Connect the Note Air6 C to Wi-Fi and sign in to the BOOX account used for synchronization.
- Enable cloud backup or synchronization in the Notes or account settings, then allow the initial upload to finish while the tablet is charging or idle.
- On a computer, open the appropriate regional portal: push.boox.com for the US service or eur.boox.com for the EU service.
- On a phone or tablet, sign in to BOOX Assistant with the same account and allow it to refresh.
- Open a note or book annotation on the second device and confirm that recent edits and page references are present before deleting the local original.
Regional servers and firmware versions can change what is offered or how quickly a file appears. If a note is confidential, review the account and synchronization settings before enabling cloud backup, and keep a local export for important records.
BOOXDrop local transfer
- Put the Note Air6 C and the receiving computer or mobile device on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open BOOXDrop on the tablet and use its displayed connection address or pairing method.
- Choose files to send in either direction, then wait for the transfer-complete confirmation.
- Open the copied file on the destination device before removing it from the tablet.
BOOXDrop is useful when you need a direct transfer without waiting for cloud indexing. It is a local-network workflow, not a promise that files will be available everywhere when the tablet is offline.

How many colors does the display show?
The Kaleido 3 panel supports 4,096 colors. It renders black-and-white material at 300 ppi and color material at 150 ppi, so small colored labels and fine chart lines are less detailed than the same content in monochrome. The display has a flat cover lens, an anti-glare-oriented design and a dual-tone front light with warm and cool controls.
Color E Ink is best understood as a low-power layer for information design, not as a replacement for a bright phone screen. It is particularly helpful for:
- PDF diagrams, maps and engineering drawings where color separates layers.
- Charts and academic figures that use a few categorical colors.
- Highlighting passages in different colors while keeping a paper-like page.
- Comics, textbooks and illustrated documents viewed in ambient light.
Expect a softer, more muted palette than an LCD or OLED and a visible difference between black text and colored artwork. Front-light brightness and room illumination also change the perceived contrast. For long reading sessions, adjust the warm/cool mix and brightness rather than assuming the same setting works at noon and in a dark room.

How long does the battery last?
BOOX publishes a 3,700mAh Li-ion polymer battery for the Note Air6 C, but its 2026 product and launch information does not provide a standardized hours-per-charge or days-per-charge figure. Capacity alone cannot be converted into a truthful runtime promise.
Endurance changes with front-light brightness, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth activity, refresh mode, Android applications, speaker use, microphone activity and the size of the files being rendered. A lightly used reader with radios off can consume power very differently from a user streaming audio, synchronizing notes and switching between several apps.
Practical ways to extend a charge
- Lower the front-light level and use a warmer tone only when the room requires it.
- Turn off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when you are reading locally and do not need synchronization or accessories.
- Use a quality-focused refresh mode for static pages and a faster mode only for scrolling or interactive apps.
- Close or restrict background applications that continue syncing when you are not using them.
- Use speakers and microphone features deliberately; audio workloads are more demanding than still-page reading.
- Charge before a long trip and carry a USB-C charger rather than relying on an unverified runtime estimate.
When comparing this tablet with another ePaper device, require measurements made with the same light level, wireless state, refresh mode, workload and standby period. Otherwise, a larger battery number may not translate into longer real-world use.

Physical design, storage and accessories
The tablet measures 225 × 192 × 5.8mm and weighs about 440g. A microSD slot supplements the 64GB internal storage, which is useful for large PDF libraries, audiobooks and offline Android content. Common problems and fixes
Google Play is missing or an app will not install
Confirm that the tablet is connected to Wi-Fi, finish Google account setup and check for system updates. If the Play Store lists an app as incompatible, look for a tablet-compatible edition rather than sideloading an unknown package. Sideloaded software can lack update support or behave poorly with E Ink refresh modes.

A note appears on the tablet but not on another device
Check that both devices use the same BOOX account and the intended regional service, then leave the tablet online until synchronization completes. For urgent transfers, use BOOXDrop on the same local network and verify the destination file before deleting the original.
Colors look faint or text has ghosting
Increase ambient light or adjust the warm/cool front light, switch to a quality-oriented refresh mode and refresh the page. Remember that the color layer has lower resolution than monochrome content, so small colored type may remain soft even after settings changes.
Handwriting conversion produces errors
Write with clearer spacing, select only the relevant strokes with Lasso and proofread names, numbers and dates. Keep the original handwritten page until the converted text has been checked.
Battery drops quickly
Review front-light brightness, wireless radios, active Android apps, audio playback and refresh mode. Compare drain over the same workload for several sessions; a single heavy sync or media session is not representative of ordinary reading.
