Visible is the better default for heavy-data users, while Boost Mobile is the better bargain if you can stay within 30GB of high-speed data. Visible+ costs $35 per month and Visible+ Pro costs $45, with taxes included, unlimited premium data and defined hotspot allowances. Boost’s $25 Forever plan is cheaper, but Boost says speeds may fall after 30GB of high-speed use. The right choice still depends on which network works best at your home, workplace and regular travel destinations.

Boost Mobile vs Visible at a glance

These carriers solve different problems. Boost Mobile leads on advertised entry price and offers progressively richer tiers for international calling, roaming and hotspot use. Visible focuses on a simple Verizon-powered structure, with taxes included on its disclosed prices and premium unlimited data on its higher plans.

Decision factor Boost Mobile Visible
Lowest advertised price $25 per month with AutoPay on the Forever plan; $30 without AutoPay $35 per month for Visible+; $45 for Visible+ Pro
High-speed or premium-data policy Basic Unlimited may be slowed after 30GB; Boost says speeds may fall to 512kbps after that threshold Visible+ and Pro advertise unlimited premium data with no prioritization slowdowns
Network Boost’s own and partner networks; performance varies by location Verizon 5G, 5G Ultra Wideband and 4G LTE
Hotspot Included on higher tiers and uses the plan’s data allowance Visible+ unlimited hotspot up to 10Mbps; Pro up to 15Mbps
International emphasis Global Connection, Unlimited+ and Unlimited Premium add calling, roaming or North America benefits by tier Canada/Mexico roaming and Global Pass on Visible+; broader international calling and texting on Pro
Taxes and fees Boost’s advertised prices do not establish that taxes and fees are included Visible’s broadband-facts disclosure lists taxes included

Boost Mobile’s plan page and network-management disclosure, and Visible’s 2026 broadband-facts and plan pages, are the basis for these figures. Prices, policies and included benefits can change, so confirm the checkout total and plan terms before activating.

Which carrier is better for most people?

Choose Visible when data consistency matters

Visible+ is the stronger all-purpose choice if you regularly stream, use navigation, upload photos, work from a phone or share data through a hotspot. Its $35 price includes taxes, and the plan advertises unlimited premium data on Verizon’s 5G and 4G LTE networks. “Premium” matters in busy areas: the plan is designed not to apply a prioritization slowdown after a stated monthly threshold.

#1 Best Overall
$30/mo. Mint Mobile Phone Plan with Unlimited Talk, Text & Data for 3 Months (3-in-1 SIM Card)
  • WHAT YOU GET: Three (3) months of unlimited talk, text, and data delivered on the nation's largest 5G network. Data speeds may slow after 50GB when network is busy but data is unlimited. Videos stream at 480p.
  • OH, YOU GET THIS TOO: 5G for Free + free mobile hotspot + Wi-Fi calling and text + free international calls to Mexico and Canada
  • HOW YOU GET IT: The SIM Kit comes with a 3-in-1 SIM card that includes standard/micro/nano sizes, insert the SIM into your device, and activate on the Mint Mobile website or app. You can activate service on your own unlocked device with our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program. • WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who hates their phone bill
  • WHY YOU SHOULD GET IT: Mint Mobile took what’s wrong with wireless and made it right. We re-imagined the wireless shopping experience and made it easy and online.

Visible+ Pro costs $45 and keeps unlimited premium data while raising the hotspot limit from 10Mbps to 15Mbps. It also adds international calling minutes and texting destinations that are useful for households with overseas contacts.

Choose Boost when the bill matters most

Boost’s $25 Forever plan is the lowest recurring advertised price in this comparison when AutoPay is enabled. If your monthly use is comfortably below 30GB and your local Boost or partner network performs well, that saving can outweigh Visible’s extra data headroom. Boost also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee listed on its plan page, which can reduce the risk of trying the service.

The trade-off is the 30GB high-speed threshold. Boost’s wording says, “If you use more than 30 GB of high speed, premium data, your speeds may be lowered to 512kbps.” That is a material limitation for heavy streamers, frequent hotspot users and anyone who routinely works from cellular data.

Plan prices and included data

The following table uses the prices and allowances published for the current 2026 plan pages. Boost identifies AutoPay pricing where noted; Visible’s disclosed prices include taxes.

Plan Advertised monthly price Data policy Hotspot International benefits
Boost Forever $25 with AutoPay; $30 without AutoPay Basic Unlimited may slow after 30GB of high-speed data; Boost states speeds may be lowered to 512kbps Not specified on the cited plan details Not specified on the cited plan details
Boost Global Connection $40 with AutoPay 40GB premium data Not listed in the cited benefits Global talk and text plus 1GB international roaming
Boost Unlimited+ $50 40GB premium data Included; uses the plan’s data package Not specified beyond the listed plan benefits
Boost Unlimited Premium $60 50GB premium data Included; uses the plan’s data package North America Connect
Visible+ $35; taxes included Unlimited premium data on Verizon 5G/4G LTE Unlimited data up to 10Mbps 2GB per day of high-speed data in Canada and Mexico; one Global Pass day monthly
Visible+ Pro $45; taxes included Unlimited premium data Unlimited data up to 15Mbps 500 international long-distance minutes to 85+ countries; texting to 200+ countries

“Premium data” is not the same as unlimited data in every plan. Boost’s listed 40GB and 50GB amounts describe the premium-data allowance on the higher tiers. Boost’s transparency disclosure says the company and its network partners may deprioritize or reduce a customer’s speed for the rest of the billing cycle after the applicable quality-of-service threshold. Visible+ and Pro instead advertise unlimited premium data, but actual throughput still depends on signal, congestion, device capability and the network serving your location.

Coverage: Boost’s mix versus Visible’s Verizon network

Visible coverage

Visible states that it is powered by Verizon and provides access to Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, 5G and 4G LTE networks. Visible’s national statement does not guarantee service at a particular address. Buildings, terrain, local tower loading and device bands can produce very different results inside the same city.

Boost coverage

Boost uses its own and partner networks. That can be useful where one of those partners has a stronger signal than Verizon, but the experience is correspondingly location-dependent. The service available to a particular line can also depend on the device and the network arrangement used in that area.

Ultra Mobile 8GB Prepaid SIM Kit, 1-Month Plan on the T-Mobile 5G Network | Unlimited calling to 90+ international destinations, U.S. talk, global text, hotspot, Wi-Fi Calling, keep your phone & number
  • STAY CONNECTED WORLDWIDE: Unlimited calling from the U.S. to 90+ international destinations including India, Mexico, Canada, China, the U.K. and more.
  • RELIABLE NATIONWIDE COVERAGE: Enjoy 8GB of high-speed 5G/4G LTE data on the T-Mobile 5G Network.
  • TRAVEL ACROSS NORTH AMERICA: Unlimited talk and text in Mexico and Canada plus international roaming credit.
  • BRING YOUR OWN PHONE: Activate your compatible unlocked phone with the included 3-in-1 SIM card or eSIM. Keep your number or get a new one.
  • NO CONTRACTS: Prepaid wireless with no annual contracts, no credit checks, and no hidden fees.

How to check before porting your number

  1. Enter your home address in each carrier’s current coverage map.
  2. Repeat the check for your workplace, school, gym and the places you travel most often.
  3. Look for indoor coverage, not just a colored outdoor area; concrete, metal and low-e windows can block usable signal.
  4. Ask people who use each network in the exact buildings you care about, or test with a new line before moving your primary number.
  5. Confirm that your phone supports the relevant 5G and LTE bands and is unlocked before activation.

A national coverage claim cannot resolve a dead zone in your kitchen or a weak signal on your commute. Local testing is more reliable than choosing by brand reputation.

Does Boost slow down after 30GB, and how does that compare with Visible?

Boost’s threshold

On the basic Forever/Unlimited offering, Boost says that using more than 30GB of high-speed premium data can result in speeds being lowered to 512kbps. Boost’s open-internet disclosure adds that Boost and its network partners reserve the right to deprioritize or reduce the available speed for the remainder of the billing cycle after the applicable quality-of-service threshold.

At 512kbps, messaging, email and basic web pages may still work, but high-resolution video, large downloads, cloud backups and video calls can become frustrating or unusable. The slowdown is therefore most important for people whose usage routinely approaches or exceeds 30GB, not for a light user who averages a few gigabytes.

Visible’s premium-data approach

Visible+ and Visible+ Pro advertise unlimited premium data. Their plan descriptions do not specify a monthly point at which the line is moved behind other traffic. That makes them more predictable for sustained use in congested areas, although no carrier can guarantee a fixed speed at every moment.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What the policy means in real use

  • Streaming several hours of video each week, automatic photo backup and frequent hotspot sessions can push a line toward 30GB quickly.
  • Downloading playlists and maps over Wi-Fi and limiting video quality can keep a light user below Boost’s threshold.
  • If you need to know your actual pattern, check the cellular-data counter on your phone for a complete billing cycle before switching.

Hotspot limits and practical differences

Visible+ and Visible+ Pro

Visible+ includes unlimited hotspot data at speeds up to 10Mbps. Visible+ Pro raises the stated limit to 15Mbps. Those caps are fast enough for ordinary browsing, email, point-of-sale work and one or two low-resolution video streams, but they are not equivalent to a wired broadband connection. Multiple laptops, 4K video, gaming downloads and large operating-system updates can consume time even at 15Mbps.

Boost’s hotspot tiers

Boost lists hotspot as included on Unlimited+ and Unlimited Premium, and says it draws from the plan’s data package. The cited plan details do not establish an unlimited hotspot allowance or a single speed cap for those tiers. Treat hotspot as a finite resource on Boost: check the current plan page for the exact number of gigabytes and any speed reduction before relying on it for work or travel.

The basic $25 plan’s cited details do not specify a hotspot allowance. Do not assume that a phone labeled “unlimited” provides unlimited tethering; hotspot terms are often separate from on-device data terms.

International calling, roaming and travel

Boost Global Connection

Global Connection costs $40 with AutoPay and includes 40GB of premium data, global talk and text, and 1GB of international roaming. It is the clearest Boost choice when calling or texting abroad is more important than the lowest domestic price. The 1GB roaming amount is limited, so map downloads, photo synchronization and video can exhaust it quickly.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Boost Unlimited+ and Unlimited Premium

Unlimited+ costs $50 and includes 40GB of premium data plus hotspot. Unlimited Premium costs $60, includes 50GB of premium data and hotspot, and adds North America Connect. The cited plan information does not define every country, speed or usage rule behind North America Connect, so verify the destination list and roaming conditions for your trip.

Visible+ travel benefits

Visible+ provides 2GB per day of high-speed data in Canada and Mexico and one Global Pass day each month. The daily allowance is measured per day, not as a single monthly bucket, so travelers should plan heavier transfers around Wi-Fi.

Visible+ Pro international benefits

Visible+ Pro includes 500 international long-distance minutes to more than 85 countries and texting to more than 200 countries. Those are calling and messaging benefits; they should not be interpreted as unlimited international roaming data. Check the destination and the Global Pass terms before departure.

Which travel pattern fits which carrier?

  • Choose Boost Global Connection if you make frequent international calls and need a defined 1GB roaming allowance.
  • Choose Visible+ for regular trips to Canada or Mexico where 2GB of high-speed data per day is sufficient and a monthly Global Pass day is useful.
  • Choose Visible+ Pro when international calling minutes and broad texting coverage matter more than the lower monthly price.
  • For a long trip outside the listed destinations, compare a local SIM or eSIM separately; neither carrier’s cited benefits establish universal worldwide roaming.

Speed expectations: what the published ranges mean

Visible’s 2026 broadband-facts disclosure lists typical download ranges rather than guarantees. The base Visible label is listed at 20–148Mbps on 5G/4G LTE. Visible+ and Visible+ Pro are listed at 35–148Mbps on 5G/4G LTE and 163–622Mbps on 5G Ultra Wideband.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These ranges describe typical performance under the disclosure’s measurement conditions, not a promise that your phone will reach the upper end. A compatible device, Ultra Wideband availability, signal strength, indoor construction and tower congestion all matter. A lower-priced plan can feel faster than a premium plan in a strong local signal, while the premium plan can remain more usable when traffic is busy because of its data priority.

Boost does not provide a directly comparable national speed range in the cited plan information. Its published 30GB policy is therefore more useful for judging sustained-use risk than for predicting a specific Mbps result.

Taxes, guarantees and the real monthly cost

Visible’s disclosed total

Visible’s broadband-facts disclosure lists Visible+ at $35 and Visible+ Pro at $45 with taxes included and no contract. That makes the advertised figure easier to compare with a bank statement because common taxes and fees are already incorporated.

Boost’s advertised price

Boost lists $25 with AutoPay or $30 without AutoPay for the Forever plan. Confirm whether your address, payment method and any current promotion qualify for the displayed rate, and check the final checkout total for taxes or other charges. The cited Boost information does not establish that taxes are included.

Boost’s 30-day money-back guarantee

Boost’s plan page lists a 30-day money-back guarantee. Read the current terms for activation charges, device conditions, return shipping and what counts as an eligible cancellation; a guarantee is useful only if the return process fits your situation.

Choosing by user type

For a light or moderate data user

Boost Forever is the cost leader if you use less than 30GB of high-speed data, have strong local coverage and want the smallest recurring bill. AutoPay is required for the $25 figure; without it, the listed price is $30.

For a heavy streamer or remote worker

Visible+ is the safer default. Unlimited premium data removes the specific 30GB slowdown described for Boost’s basic plan, and unlimited hotspot at up to 10Mbps provides a predictable tethering option. Confirm that Verizon is strongest where you work and live.

For frequent hotspot use

Visible+ Pro is the best fit of the listed options when hotspot responsiveness matters: its stated ceiling is 15Mbps, compared with 10Mbps on Visible+. Boost Unlimited+ and Unlimited Premium include hotspot, but the allowance is tied to the plan’s data package and should be checked against your expected monthly usage.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For international callers

Visible+ Pro’s 500 international long-distance minutes to 85-plus countries and texting to 200-plus countries make its $45 price easier to justify for households with overseas contacts. Boost Global Connection is the alternative when global talk and text plus 1GB of roaming better match your travel pattern.

For Canada and Mexico travel

Visible+ offers 2GB of high-speed data per day in both countries and one Global Pass day each month. Boost Unlimited Premium lists North America Connect, but verify its current country list and usage rules before choosing it specifically for a trip.

For someone considering device financing

Plan pricing and phone financing are separate decisions. Boost’s higher-tier recommendation can make sense when device-financing availability is important, but eligibility, down payments and device inventory change. Confirm those terms independently before porting a number.

How to switch without losing service

  1. Record your current usage. Check at least one full billing cycle of cellular data, hotspot data and international use.
  2. Check coverage at every important location. Use both carriers’ current maps and, when possible, test with a temporary line.
  3. Verify phone compatibility. Confirm the device is unlocked, paid off if required, and supports the network bands used in your area.
  4. Choose the tier based on the constraint. Use the 30GB threshold, hotspot speed, travel allowance and tax treatment—not just the headline price.
  5. Collect porting information. Obtain your existing account number, transfer PIN and billing ZIP code. Keep the old line active until the port completes.
  6. Activate and test immediately. Place calls indoors, send texts, run a speed test in your usual rooms, try hotspot on the devices you depend on and test voicemail.
  7. Cancel the old service only after confirmation. Check that calls, two-factor-authentication messages and data work on the new line before closing the previous account.

Common mistakes and fixes

Mistake: comparing $25 with $35 without accounting for AutoPay and taxes

Fix: Compare the recurring checkout total. Boost’s $25 requires AutoPay and is listed as $30 without it; Visible’s $35 and $45 disclosures include taxes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mistake: treating “unlimited” as unlimited premium data

Fix: Read the quality-of-service language. Boost’s basic plan has the stated 30GB threshold, while Visible+ and Pro advertise unlimited premium data.

Mistake: assuming all hotspot is unlimited

Fix: Visible’s 10Mbps and 15Mbps limits are explicit. Boost’s listed hotspot benefits on higher tiers use the plan’s data package, and the cited basic-plan details do not specify an allowance.

Mistake: relying on a national coverage map

Fix: Test the exact building, route and travel destinations. Network ownership does not predict indoor signal at your address.

Mistake: confusing international calling with roaming data

Fix: Separate voice minutes, texting, roaming gigabytes and travel-day passes. Visible+ Pro’s calling and texting benefits do not establish unlimited roaming data, and Boost Global Connection’s roaming allowance is 1GB.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mistake: porting before testing

Fix: Use Boost’s listed 30-day guarantee where its terms fit, or test a temporary line first. Keep your old account open until the new service handles calls, texts and authentication codes.

Bottom-line decision

Pick Boost Forever when the lowest bill is the priority, your usage stays below 30GB of high-speed data and Boost’s local network performs well. Pick Boost Global Connection, Unlimited+ or Unlimited Premium when the added international, premium-data or hotspot benefits justify spending $40, $50 or $60.

Pick Visible+ when you want a straightforward $35 tax-included plan with unlimited premium data and 10Mbps unlimited hotspot on a strong Verizon signal. Pick Visible+ Pro when 15Mbps hotspot and broader international calling and texting are worth $45. In every case, verify coverage and current terms at the places you actually use your phone before switching.
