Boost Mobile may be worth it if you qualify for its advertised price, have reliable coverage where you use your phone, and understand the plan’s high-speed data limits. Its $25-per-month Unlimited price is conditional, not a guaranteed all-in bill for every customer. Check your exact offer, address-level coverage, phone compatibility, and data terms before switching.
This review covers Boost Mobile in the United States, not the separate Australian brand. Prices, promotions, coverage arrangements, and plan terms can change; the details below were checked against Boost and FCC information on October 7, 2026. This is not a local coverage test or independent customer-service rating.
How much does Boost Mobile cost?
Boost advertises an Unlimited plan for $25 per month, but eligibility conditions apply. The offer terms specify new customers who bring their own device or buy a device priced over $1,199.99, require Autopay, and are subject to promotional terms. Boost also limits discounts per order or account. The headline price alone does not establish your final bill or whether the promotion will continue unchanged.
For the applicable offer and terms, see Boost Mobile’s About Us page and Unlimited plan terms. The Unlimited+ terms state that taxes, regulatory fees, and surcharges are additional. Confirm the checkout total and any later price changes before placing an order; terms can vary by activation date.

What does “unlimited” data mean?
Unlimited service does not promise the same high speed for the entire billing cycle. Boost’s plan terms say customers using more than 40 GB may experience slower speeds, while its network disclosure describes plan-specific high-speed allowances and QoS thresholds. After the applicable threshold, Boost and its network partners may deprioritize service or reduce available speed for the rest of that billing cycle. Data can remain available without overage charges, but throughput and latency may worsen, affecting data-heavy activities such as streaming and gaming.
Limits can also apply to hotspot, tethering, and other specialized uses; the allowance and treatment depend on the specific plan. The Unlimited+ terms describe US unlimited data as domestic and warn that coverage is unavailable in some areas. Read the terms for the exact plan and activation date rather than assuming all plans share one allowance.
Boost’s Open Internet Transparency disclosure explains these policies and notes that its network disclosure may not describe performance on extended-coverage or roaming networks. These are policy statements, not independent measurements of speed, coverage, or network priority.

Will Boost work where you live and travel?
Coverage and performance depend on your location, device, and the network serving you. Boost describes using partner radio-access networks and names AT&T and T-Mobile in explaining network assignment and scheduling. It also warns that partner and roaming performance can differ from the experience described for its own network.
A national coverage claim cannot tell you whether service will work well inside your home, at work, or along your commute. Check Boost’s coverage information for the specific places you regularly use your phone, and consider how you would test service before relying on it for travel or work. No independent coverage percentage or comparative speed result is established here.
Can you bring your own phone?
Boost says most popular unlocked phones can be activated, but compatibility is device-specific. Use Boost’s IMEI compatibility checker before switching. An IMEI is a unique 15-digit identifier; checking it is more reliable than assuming that an unlocked phone will work because it supports 5G or a particular radio band.

Boost’s bring-your-own-device guidance says Android phones not purchased from Boost may need the Boost Config App to provision device settings. If your current carrier has locked the phone, ask that carrier to unlock it before you try to activate it on Boost.
When will Boost unlock a phone?
Unlocking depends on whether the device is postpaid or prepaid and whether it meets the relevant requirements. Boost’s current device unlocking policy says postpaid devices bought from Boost are remotely unlocked within two business days after eligibility: after financing is completed, or immediately if the phone is paid in full.
For prepaid devices, Boost generally unlocks a phone one year after its initial activation, provided a reasonable time has passed and payment and usage requirements are met. A financed prepaid phone must be paid off, and the account must be active and in good standing. A discounted or financed handset can therefore limit how quickly you can take it to another provider.

Can new customers still get Infinite Access?
No. Boost says Infinite Access stopped being available to new lines on June 30, 2026. Existing customers retain their plans and benefits, including annual phone upgrades. Boost lists existing iPhone and Galaxy Infinite Access plans at $65 per month with 30 GB of premium data, but those are existing-customer details, not an offer for a new subscriber. See Boost’s Infinite Access information.

Boost’s About Us page lists automated self-service and a customer-care phone number. It also displays positive testimonials selected and published by Boost; those anecdotes do not establish typical satisfaction or how a specific problem will be resolved. If you have an unresolved issue involving billing, equipment, coverage, number porting, or unlocking, the FCC Consumer Inquiries and Complaints Center accepts complaints in those categories. Its role is to provide a route for raising concerns, not to demonstrate that Boost is unusually good or poor at resolving them.

How to decide whether Boost is worth it for you
Before switching, compare the offer and service against your own usage rather than relying on the advertised monthly amount alone. For a fair comparison with another provider, use the same number of lines and check:
- Full recurring cost: monthly price after Autopay and promotions, plus taxes, regulatory fees, and surcharges; check when promotional terms change.
- Data terms: high-speed allowance, what happens after the threshold, and any hotspot limits.
- Local service: coverage in your home, work, and regular travel areas, including any extended-coverage or roaming conditions.
- Phone flexibility: IMEI compatibility, unlocking eligibility, and any financing or payoff obligation.
- Support: available self-service and customer-care channels, and how you would escalate an unresolved issue.
There is no like-for-like competitor rate comparison here, so a blanket ranking would not be meaningful. Boost is a plausible option for a price-conscious customer whose phone passes the compatibility check and whose everyday locations have usable coverage, provided the final price and plan limits work for that customer.
