To solve the Caltheris Temple laser puzzle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies, first aim the repaired Nexus Forge beam into Caltheris’s mouth. Then complete the Shimmering Thread offering and the separate Main Chamber laser lockdown. Finally, launch a purple orb into Caltheris’s head and hit its forehead with Astral Flame during rain. A lightning strike confirms the cleanse.
The steps below follow the guide updated August 24, 2026. AllThingsHow’s Caltheris Temple guide and a Rex Infernus main-quest guide describe the sequence.
What you need before starting
Gather the quest items and unlocks before attempting the sequence. The blue well in Veytharion’s Sanctuary must already be open from the earlier Veytharion puzzle.

- A repaired Nexus Forge, using the Void Talon
- The Void Claw, which pulls purple orbs
- A Pack-a-Punched Warden’s Blight for charged shots
- Astral Flame
- The Shimmering Thread offering
- A Titan Trap at Caltheris’s Passage
- Access to the blue well in Veytharion’s Sanctuary
Step 1: Aim the Nexus Forge beam into Caltheris’s mouth
This is the first of two distinct laser alignments. At Pack-a-Punch, find the three cranks on pillars around the Nexus Forge. Turn the outer, middle and inner cranks until the monoliths face Caltheris’s Sanctuary. Use the lever beneath the machine to reverse crank rotation if the current direction is working against you.

There is no fixed number of interactions. Watch the beam: this step is complete when it leaves the forge and enters Caltheris’s mouth.
Step 2: Complete the Shimmering Thread offering
- Use the Void Claw to pull down purple orbs, then interact with them until the Shimmering Thread appears. It is a random reward, so it may not appear on the first orb.
- Place the Shimmering Thread in the brazier in Caltheris’s Main Chamber.
- At Pack-a-Punch, pull a fresh purple orb into the machine and turn the wheels promptly to make Astral Flame.
- Use Astral Flame on the brazier. A nearby zombie becomes mist-infected.
- Kill that zombie with the Titan Trap at Caltheris’s Passage.
Caltheris speaks a quote when the offering step registers.

Step 3: Raise and focus the Main Chamber dial
This is the second laser alignment; it is separate from turning the Nexus Forge cranks. In Caltheris’s Main Chamber, find the stone tablet on the floor facing east toward the brazier.

- Interact with the tablet, stand on it and keep aiming down sights until the dial appears.
- Fire a charged Warden’s Blight shot to raise the dial.
- Shoot the middle ring to steer the beam to the northeast wall, just to the right of the blue crystal. Avoid the outer ring, which sends the beam too far.
Next, kill zombies directly beneath the raised dial so their souls feed the beam. Continue until the focused wall breaks and exposes a statue.

Step 4: Finish the statue lockdown
Shoot the exposed statue to start the lockdown. Kill all four Shadow Souls, then shoot the statue again to complete it. Light Mend and Warden’s Blight can kill the souls faster, though any weapon works.

Step 5: Send an orb into Caltheris’s head and cleanse it during rain
- At the stairs in Caltheris’s Passage, use the Void Claw to pull a purple orb into position.
- Fire a charged Warden’s Blight shot at the orb to launch it into Caltheris’s head. A purple glow confirms it landed.
- If it is not raining, use the blue well in Veytharion’s Sanctuary. Rain starts on the following round, not immediately.
- During rain, shoot Caltheris’s forehead with Astral Flame. A lightning strike signals that the cleanse is complete.
What to check if a step does not register
- The forge beam misses Caltheris’s mouth: Recheck the outer, middle and inner crank alignment; use the lever beneath the forge to reverse rotation if needed.
- No quote after the offering: Confirm the Shimmering Thread went into the brazier, Astral Flame lit it, and the mist-infected zombie died to the Titan Trap.
- The dial does not appear: Stay on the floor tablet and keep aiming down sights until it reveals itself.
- The wall does not break: Recheck the northeast beam target and kill zombies beneath the raised dial to feed it souls.
- The lockdown remains active: Kill all four Shadow Souls, then shoot the statue again.
- Caltheris’s head does not glow purple: Pull the orb to the Passage stairs and hit it with a charged Warden’s Blight shot.
- Astral Flame does not finish the cleanse: Wait until the rainy round and make sure the forehead shot uses Astral Flame.
