Bluehost AI Store is a bundled way to run a WooCommerce store, not a separate ecommerce platform that replaces WooCommerce. It combines WordPress and WooCommerce with Bluehost hosting and an AI-guided setup and management interface. By contrast, standalone WooCommerce means choosing and configuring the hosting, WordPress setup, and add-ons yourself.

The choice is mainly about convenience versus control: AI Store bundles more of the setup, while standalone WooCommerce gives you more freedom over the store’s technical stack and asks you to manage more of it.

What is the difference between Bluehost AI Store and WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is the commerce software underneath both options. Bluehost says AI Store automatically installs and activates WooCommerce, then adds its hosting package and tools for managing store tasks. Its dashboard is designed to bring together products, orders, inventory, customers, and store performance. Bluehost also says changes made through its AI portal synchronize with WooCommerce.

Standalone WooCommerce is the open-source platform installed on WordPress without that specific Bluehost bundle. You select a hosting provider, configure the site, and choose any themes, plugins, and extensions you need. Bluehost and WooCommerce describe these product features; they are not the results of an independent side-by-side performance test.

What does Bluehost AI Store include?

Bluehost’s AI Store product page describes a package combining hosting, WordPress, WooCommerce, and AI tools intended to help with store setup and everyday management. The key practical distinction is that the guided experience is paired with limits on direct WordPress administration: Bluehost’s AI Store access documentation says users cannot install, deactivate, or delete plugins, or install or switch themes through the restricted WordPress admin areas.

If your store depends on a specific plugin, theme, or custom WordPress workflow, confirm that it is supported and that you will have the access you need before buying. A guided interface may simplify the tasks it supports, but the available information does not establish independent performance or time-saving results.

What does standalone WooCommerce leave up to you?

WooCommerce describes itself as a free, open-source ecommerce platform for WordPress. “Free” refers to the core platform charge, not the full cost of operating a store. You still need hosting, may pay payment-provider fees, and can incur costs for extensions, development, and maintenance.

That extra responsibility comes with more choice: you select the host and decide which compatible themes, plugins, and integrations to use. WooCommerce’s documentation and developer documentation describe the platform and its extensibility. Greater flexibility is useful only if you are prepared to make configuration decisions and keep the stack working.

How much do Bluehost AI Store and WooCommerce cost?

Prices below reflect official pages accessed or updated in 2026, and can change. Compare the plan and term shown at checkout, including what happens after any trial or initial term.

Option or cost Published figure What it means
Bluehost AI Store, Sell Online $15.99 per month after a 14-day trial on the product page Offer displayed on Bluehost’s product page, accessed October 7, 2026; confirm the checkout terms
Bluehost Sell Online renewal $22.99 per month on a monthly term; $15.99 per month on a 12- or 24-month term Renewal prices listed on Bluehost’s plans and pricing page, updated September 14, 2026; renewal rates apply after the initial term and prices can change
WooCommerce core $0 platform fee; no revenue share WooCommerce’s pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026
Hosting for a typical WooCommerce store $25–$350 per month WooCommerce’s estimate, not a quote or guaranteed total for a particular store; accessed October 7, 2026
WooCommerce extensions $29–$299 per year per extension WooCommerce’s published estimate; actual extension choices and prices vary; accessed October 7, 2026

WooCommerce’s cost estimates do not include every possible expense, such as payment processing, development, or ongoing maintenance. Bluehost’s product-page offer and its term-based renewal figures are presented differently, so do not treat the advertised monthly amount as a universal price. Check the offer displayed at purchase and its renewal conditions.

Which option is the better fit for your store?

Choose Bluehost AI Store if you want a bundled, guided setup

  • You want Bluehost hosting and WooCommerce packaged together.
  • You value an AI-guided interface for setup and store-management tasks.
  • Your required plugins and themes fit within the documented access limits.
  • Stripe is an acceptable payment option for your store, subject to checking current support.

Choose standalone WooCommerce if you want more control

  • You want to choose your hosting provider and WordPress configuration.
  • You need greater freedom to select themes, plugins, and integrations.
  • You can handle setup, updates, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
  • You want to assess payment options and operating costs across providers yourself.

Before deciding, list the plugins and payment methods your store requires, then check whether the proposed setup supports them. Compare the full expected cost—hosting or bundle fees, renewal terms, processor fees, extensions, and any development or maintenance—rather than comparing a bundled subscription with WooCommerce’s $0 core platform fee.
