This guide is for the original 2004 PC role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, not the separate Bloodlines 2. You can open its developer console with the tilde (~) key in-game, but command setup can differ depending on whether you use the Unofficial Patch. How to open the console and use commands
A community reference describes opening the in-game console with the tilde (~) key. Launch-option instructions vary between the unmodified game and versions using the Unofficial Patch, so there is no single setup procedure that applies to every installation. - Save your game first. Console commands can disrupt progression if used incorrectly.
- Open the console in-game. Press tilde (~), as described by the community reference. Keyboard layouts may place that character on a different key.
- Enter a command carefully. Some commands are toggles; entering one again may turn its effect off.
- Return to normal play and check your progress. If a command has skipped or disrupted a mission, reload the save from before you used it.

Choose a clan around the experience you want
The official manual describes a choice among seven Camarilla-affiliated clans. Steam’s guide presents Nosferatu as a challenge choice and suggests trying Malkavian on a later replay: its unusual dialogue can reveal twists. Explore hubs and talk to people
Side quests can be missed, so investigate hubs and nightclubs and speak with the people you meet. The official manual’s advice is direct: “Speak to everyone—they may have quests for you to accomplish.” It also explains that completing quests earns experience for character advancement. Build options beyond direct combat
Lockpicking, computer hacking, persuasion, and stealth can create alternatives to fighting or open useful routes. The Steam guide notes that Bloodbuff can temporarily help with lockpicking and Auspex can help with hacking. Train for the fights you cannot avoid
Social and stealth approaches do not carry every encounter. The Steam guide recommends investing in combat skills and training rather than assuming every obstacle can be bypassed. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines was developed by Troika Games and published by Activision; Steam lists its release as November 16, 2004. Its manual describes a newly embraced vampire navigating Los Angeles, meeting allies and enemies, feeding, and developing Disciplines.
