There is no established public Bloodborne RTX Remix path-tracing mod to install or troubleshoot yet. Reports published October 8–9, 2026 describe an early technical experiment running with shadPS4, not a released project with known requirements, crash fixes, or performance benchmarks. If you are seeing a video or post about “Bloodborne RTX Remix path tracing,” treat it as demonstration footage rather than a downloadable build.
A separate Nexus Mods listing named Bloodborne Ray Tracing is a ReShade mod for shadPS4. Its files and instructions are not the RTX Remix experiment, and installing them will not fix RTX Remix problems. The safest approach is to identify the exact runtime, fork, mod and version first, then apply only that project’s documentation.
What the reported RTX Remix experiment actually is
An October 8, 2026 GameGPU report describes modder gabdeg testing NVIDIA RTX Remix tools with Bloodborne running through shadPS4. The report says static location geometry is converted to RTX Remix’s native format while dynamic geometry is transferred in real time from shadPS4. It also describes the work as an early technical test with visible visual bugs, rather than a finished player release.
An October 9, 2026 iTechGuides report says there is no public mod release, project announcement, stated release date, published hardware requirement or benchmark. It attributes this statement to gabdeg: “This is not a project announcement, and if it ever turns into something releasable, it wouldn’t be out for a long time as there are still many issues that would need fixing.” The quotation is reported attribution; it was not independently verified from a direct creator page.

That status changes what troubleshooting advice can honestly promise. There is no supported installer, compatibility list, minimum GPU, measured frame rate, crash frequency or universal fix for the experiment. A black screen in a video, a crash in an unrelated shadPS4 fork, and a ReShade error from a Nexus download are different technical cases.
Do not confuse the experiment with the Nexus ray-tracing listing
Nexus Mods hosts a separate listing called Bloodborne Ray Tracing. The page identifies version 1.01, creator Edhel666gato, a ReShade tag and a last update of February 16, 2025. Its readme describes a ReShade installation against shadPS4, not RTX Remix. The listing also displays the virus-scan status “Some suspicious files.” That status is a reason to inspect the current archive and files carefully; it is not proof by itself that the files are safe or malicious.

If you deliberately use the Nexus ReShade listing
Follow only the instructions shown on the current listing. They say to download and run ReShade, select shadPS4.exe, choose the rendering API used by your shadPS4 installation (the readme says Vulkan in most cases), install the basic shaders, then extract the mod archive into the shadPS4 source folder and replace files when prompted. These operations alter emulator files, so preserve a clean backup and confirm that the archive matches your shadPS4 build before overwriting anything. A ReShade setup problem should be reported to the listing’s maintainer, not described as an RTX Remix failure.

Before changing settings, write down the complete environment. Modded and emulated graphics stacks can fail because of one mismatched file or one unsupported option, and changing several variables at once removes the evidence needed to identify the cause.

- Name the exact project: RTX Remix footage, the Nexus ReShade listing, bbport, or a particular Windows shadPS4 fork.
- Record versions: emulator or runtime build, mod version, ReShade version if used, renderer, upscaler and frame-generation components.
- Record hardware and software: operating system, GPU model, driver version, CPU, monitor resolution and whether variable-refresh-rate mode is enabled.
- Describe the trigger: launch, loading a save, entering a location, changing resolution, enabling an upscaler, activating a shader or reaching a particular effect.
- Save evidence: logs, a reproducible sequence, active-mod list, screenshots and a note showing whether audio or the game process continues behind a black window.
Use the project’s own versioned documentation after this inventory. Instructions from one fork can be wrong for another even when both use shadPS4.
Black screens and black windows
Separate a display failure from a crashed process
When the screen turns black, wait briefly and check whether the process remains active, whether audio continues and whether the project log is still receiving entries. A running process with audio suggests a renderer, shader, upscaler or display-output problem; an immediate process exit points toward a crash or missing dependency. Do not assume either symptom came from path tracing merely because it appeared after enabling a graphics option.
Check renderer, upscaler and file matching
Use the renderer and upscaler combination documented for the exact build. The separate bbport documentation includes a user report on Fedora with a GTX 1060 6GB system: FSR 3 started, while selecting FSR 4 produced a black window. That is one configuration-specific report, not a minimum requirement, benchmark or diagnosis for RTX Remix.

Undo one change at a time
Return to the project’s baseline renderer, disable the newest shader or upscaler, and test again. If the baseline works, re-enable options individually. Do not copy DLLs, shader folders or configuration files between the Nexus ReShade listing, bbport and another shadPS4 fork. A clean, separately stored profile makes this comparison possible.
Diagnosing performance drops
No experiment-specific frame-rate figure or percentage performance cost has been published. Do not convert footage into a promised frame rate, and do not use a GTX 1060 report from another runtime as a hardware recommendation.
Capture the variables that affect timing
- Internal render resolution and output resolution.
- Upscaler mode, sharpness and frame-generation state.
- GPU utilization, dedicated-memory use and system-memory use.
- Frame-time consistency, not only the instantaneous frames-per-second counter.
- Active overlays, ReShade effects, texture packs and other loose-file mods.
- The scene and camera movement where the slowdown occurs.
Lowering render resolution is documented as a mitigation for growing memory use in the separate Windows upscaling project. It can be a useful diagnostic there: if memory pressure falls and frame pacing improves, resolution is part of the workload. It is not a verified cure for RTX Remix path tracing.

Use built-in diagnostics where the project provides them
The bbport README documents two environment variables: BB_FRAME_STATS=1 for memory and frame statistics, and BB_GPU_PROFILE=1 for per-pass GPU timing. Use the syntax and launch method shown in that project’s documentation, and label the resulting numbers with the bbport version, scene and hardware. Those counters describe bbport, not the RTX Remix experiment.

The Windows DLSS/FSR project advises checking GPU load when frame generation does not feel smoother. Low GPU load can indicate a CPU, synchronization or emulation bottleneck; high GPU load with rising frame times points toward rendering cost. Variable-refresh-rate flicker can also reflect uneven frame pacing in emulation rather than a defective monitor.

For a crash, note whether it happens before the game window, while loading a save, when entering a location, or immediately after enabling a mod. Reproduce with the smallest valid configuration for that project, then add one component at a time. The useful report contains the runtime build, operating system, GPU and driver, renderer and upscaler, resolution, active mods, reproduction steps and the complete relevant log.
The separate Windows upscaling project specifically asks users to attach user/log/shad_log.txt when a listed AMD-upscaler-start crash persists. Attach that file only when you are using that project, and follow its redaction guidance if provided. A log path from one fork should not be presented as a universal shadPS4 location.
Check overlays and missing geometry
That same Windows project recommends closing overlays such as RivaTuner, MSI Afterburner and the NVIDIA overlay when certain missing-model glitches occur. It also identifies Readbacks Mode as a setting to consider when geometry is missing. These are project-specific troubleshooting steps, not confirmed fixes for RTX Remix path tracing. Test each change separately and restore your normal overlay setup after the diagnosis.

What not to do
- Do not download a file advertised as an “official RTX Remix release” when no established public build is documented.
- Do not overwrite a working shadPS4 installation without a backup, especially when a listing reports “Some suspicious files” in its scan status.
- Do not combine ReShade files, bbport files and another fork’s upscaler or configuration files.
- Do not infer a GPU minimum or buy an upgrade based on demonstration footage. No experiment-specific requirement or benchmark is established.
- Do not report a search-result phrase such as “crashes, black screens and performance drops” as evidence that those symptoms are prevalent; it is query wording, not a failure-rate measurement.
How to request useful project support
Send the issue to the matching project’s issue tracker or maintainer with a concise, reproducible report. Include the exact build and download source, operating system, GPU and driver, renderer, upscaler, resolution, mod list, overlays, the last successful configuration, the first failing configuration and the relevant log. State whether the process exits, freezes, continues audio or shows a black window. This lets maintainers distinguish a missing file from an unsupported feature or a scene-specific rendering bug.
If your report concerns the RTX Remix footage itself, describe it as an early experiment and ask whether a public build exists. At present, the available reports provide no official installer, release channel or issue tracker for users to follow.
Bottom line for Bloodborne path-tracing troubleshooting
The responsible answer is not a list of guaranteed crash fixes: the reported RTX Remix path tracing is an unreleased proof of concept with no published requirements or benchmark. Treat the separate ReShade Nexus listing as a different mod, keep project files isolated, capture exact versions and logs, and apply diagnostics only from the runtime you are actually using. Until a verifiable public build publishes its own documentation, any claim of a universal black-screen fix, performance target or required GPU would be speculation.
