To block a text sender on a Samsung Galaxy, open the conversation in Samsung Messages, tap the arrow beside the sender’s number, then tap Block number. You can also block a conversation from the inbox or manage blocked numbers in Samsung Messages or the Phone app. Menu names and availability vary by app, model, software version, and wireless provider.
Block a sender from a text conversation
Samsung’s instructions for Samsung Messages offer two quick ways to block a sender:
- From the conversation: Open the text conversation, tap the down arrow beside the number, then tap Block number.
- From the inbox: Touch and hold the conversation, tap More (the three vertical dots), then tap Block.
Samsung describes this control as blocking messages from that number. Check that you have the intended conversation selected before confirming.

In Samsung Messages
Open the Inbox tab, tap More options, then go to Settings > Block numbers and spam. This is where Samsung Messages lets you inspect blocked numbers and messages.

In the Phone app
Open the Phone app and tap More options > Settings > Block numbers. From there, you can enter a number or select one from Recents, Messages, or Contacts. Samsung notes that this feature’s availability can depend on the phone model, software version, and wireless provider.
Unblock a number you blocked by mistake
Remove it in Samsung Messages
In Samsung Messages, tap More options > Settings > Block numbers and spam > Block numbers. Find the number and remove it from the list.

Remove it in the Phone app
Open Phone > More options > Settings > Block numbers, then tap the red minus icon beside the number.
If you can’t find these menus
First check which messaging app you use. Samsung Messages is not pre-installed on some recent Galaxy phones, including the S25 series and selected Z and A models, and its availability is tied to One UI versions. If you use a different messaging app, its blocking control and menu labels may differ. Samsung also cautions that model, software, and provider affect feature availability, so the Phone app route may not appear exactly as described on every device.
