The Blanco BDW3456X is a discontinued, 60 cm freestanding dishwasher with 15 place settings and six programs. Its published specification lists 42 dBA noise, but public information does not establish a lab-tested washing score. If you own one or are considering a used unit, the most useful questions are whether it fits, what its programs and ratings actually say, and what condition and service support you can verify.
At a glance: identity and availability
CHOICE lists the BDW3456X as discontinued. Its public page gives a historical price reference of $1,099, not a current price or evidence of present availability. A listing you find may be old, used or refurbished; confirm the unit’s condition, seller, return terms and whether support is available before buying.
The datasheet describes a stainless-steel, 60 cm freestanding dishwasher with 15 place settings. CHOICE lists dimensions of 85 × 60 × 60 cm; the Appliances Online datasheet gives nominal dimensions of 845 H × 596 W × 598 D mm. The small difference is consistent with rounding, but the datasheet specifically advises checking the actual appliance dimensions before planning an opening or installation. Rack options and other features
The datasheet lists a loaded adjustable upper basket, adjustable tines, delay start, extra hygiene, tablet wash and an upper-basket half-load option. With the upper basket adjusted, it says a plate up to 31 cm can fit below. The manufacturer describes half load as suitable for smaller, less-soiled loads and says it saves water and energy; that is a feature claim, not an independently measured saving. The listed safety and installation-related features include Aqua Stop + Aqua Safe anti-flood protection, child lock and a removable worktop.

Water, energy and noise: what the figures establish
CHOICE lists 3 energy stars, claimed annual energy use of 352 kWh, Eco 50°C as the energy program, 4.5 water stars and claimed water use of 13.5 L. Appliances Online separately lists 13.2 L per cycle. These are figures from different listings; the available information does not reconcile their measurement or rating conditions, so they should not be combined or treated as directly interchangeable. CHOICE does not show a publication date for the figures on its public page, and the Appliances Online page also gives no publication date.
The 42 dBA figure comes from the product datasheet. It is not an independent noise-test result shown on CHOICE’s public page. A specification alone cannot tell you how quiet a particular, aging appliance will sound in a kitchen.

How well does it wash and dry?
The public CHOICE page identifies Daily 60°C as the tested program, but detailed washing, drying, energy-efficiency and expert-rating results are restricted to members. Its public page therefore does not support a specific lab-score-based verdict on cleaning or drying. Nor is there a verified side-by-side result here that would justify ranking the BDW3456X against current dishwashers.

The reviewer used the phrase “Very disappointed with blanco dish washer.” These are small, self-selected samples on separate platforms; the negative report is one owner’s account, not proof of a model-wide defect or failure rate. Warranty and buying a used unit
The product literature advertises two years of parts and labour coverage, plus five years of limited coverage for the wash-pump motor only. Those are historical terms, not a promise that a present owner or second-hand buyer is covered. Check any purchase documents and the seller’s terms rather than assuming the original coverage remains active.
Before paying for a used BDW3456X, inspect the exact unit and establish whether it can be installed and serviced where you live:

- Confirm the model from its rating plate and compare the appliance’s actual height, width and depth with the intended space.
- Check the condition and operation of the door, lock clips, baskets, tines and spray arms; ask the seller to demonstrate a complete cycle if possible.
- Ask about displayed fault codes, leaks, unusual noise, incomplete cycles and prior repairs. A reported F5 issue in one review is a reason to ask, not evidence of a universal fault.
- Verify local plumbing and electrical requirements, the rating plate, hose and power-cord reach, and whether the floor is level. The datasheet recommends cold-water connection; use a qualified installer where required.
- Get explicit terms for returns and any seller-provided warranty, and establish whether compatible parts and repair service can actually be sourced in your area.
The datasheet lists a maximum inlet-hose length of 1.1 m, water pressure of 0.03–1.0 MPa, residual drying and a cold-water connection recommendation. CHOICE lists an inlet-pressure range of 30–1000 kPa, equivalent to the datasheet range. Verify the rating plate and the actual connection conditions for the individual machine rather than treating these historic specifications as installation approval. Appliances Online datasheet.

Owner care and troubleshooting
The instruction manual’s contents cover detergent and rinse aid, loading, program selection, cleaning filters and spray arms, the hose filter and fault codes. Surfaced manual text warns against squeezing the inlet or outlet hoses while positioning the appliance and describes cleaning spray arms if their holes are clogged. Consult the BDW3456X instruction manual for the model’s procedures and fault-code guidance; do not infer a diagnosis from a code alone or attempt electrical or plumbing repairs beyond your competence.
