In the United States, Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27, followed by Cyber Monday on November 30. Treat those dates as the peak of a holiday campaign—not the whole campaign. Start planning audience, inventory, offer terms, and channel capacity early, then tailor the timing and messages to your own customers and results.
When is Black Friday 2026, and how long does it last?
The Federal Reserve’s 2026 holiday calendar lists Thanksgiving on November 26, making Black Friday Friday, November 27. Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30, according to Experian’s 2026 holiday marketing guidance. Black Friday itself is one day, but retailers often extend promotions across the Thanksgiving weekend and into Cyber Monday. Experian says some preview offers appear in October and many retailers begin promotions in early November; that describes observed retailer practice, not a rule that every business follows. Why plan before the Black Friday weekend?
Attentive’s July 30, 2026 release attributes several findings to its Consumer Pulse research: 83% of consumers said they begin planning holiday purchases before Black Friday, 71% planned to start holiday shopping before Black Friday, 84% expected brands to offer holiday deals before Black Friday, and 87% said the economy would change how they shop during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. These are Attentive-reported survey findings, not independently verified population estimates; the release does not provide the sample size or methodology needed to assess representativeness. Build a campaign calendar around your capacity
Plan backward from November 27 and November 30. The right launch date and communication frequency depend on your inventory, margins, audience tolerance, staffing, and past campaign data; the cited sources do not establish a universally best schedule.
- Prepare in advance. Set campaign goals, check inventory and fulfillment capacity, choose eligible products, and define discount economics and terms before promoting the offer.
- Consider an early preview. Decide whether a preview or early-access offer is useful for a particular audience and whether stock can support it. Make eligibility and timing clear before a customer acts.
- Plan the peak window. Map communications and on-site offer updates across Black Friday, the weekend, and Cyber Monday. Do not assume every deal needs to remain available for the entire period.
- Review after the event. Compare results by audience, channel, offer, and timing against your own objectives and historical results. The available sources do not establish a 2026 success benchmark.
Make messages relevant, not merely frequent
Segment audiences using information you can lawfully and responsibly use, then match the message to a meaningful difference in customer need or eligibility. For example, a customer who has opted into deal alerts may need the offer and its deadline, while a customer eligible only for a category-specific promotion needs the qualifying category and conditions stated plainly.
Experian’s guidance favors relevant personalization, while Microsoft recommends audience-led creative. These approaches can help organize campaign decisions, but neither source establishes a guaranteed conversion lift. Avoid using personal data or inferred preferences in ways customers would not reasonably expect.
Coordinate only the channels you can support
Email, SMS, ecommerce pages, paid search or shopping ads, and social posts can all play roles in a holiday campaign. The sources do not provide a neutral comparison proving one channel mix is best. Choose channels based on customer consent, observed audience behavior, operational staffing, and whether you can measure results consistently.
- Email and SMS: Use only in line with applicable consent and messaging requirements; plan the schedule so that urgency and frequency match the actual offer.
- Ecommerce surfaces: Keep promotion terms and eligibility consistent on product pages, cart views, and checkout.
- Paid advertising and social: Align creative and landing pages with the offer actually available in the shopper’s market and to that shopper.
Keep prices, discounts, and urgency claims clear
The Federal Trade Commission says advertising claims must be truthful, not deceptive or unfair, and evidence-based. Its Advertising and Marketing guidance also points businesses to information on endorsements, reviews, online advertising, and email.

The FTC’s Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees FAQ explains that dynamic pricing may be used if pricing information is not misleading. If a promotion is not available to everyone, the displayed total price should not include it until the shopper meets its conditions. For a buy-one-get-one offer, the FAQ says the non-promotional total price should be most prominent unless and until promotion requirements are met. Disclosures should be clear and conspicuous; in interactive electronic media, the FTC says they must be unavoidable. Check applicable federal, state, and local requirements for your specific offer.
Make exclusions, qualifying purchases, eligibility, and actual time limits visible wherever they matter to the purchase. Do not use a countdown or “last chance” claim unless the stated deadline or limited availability is real. As an international example—not U.S. legal authority—the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission reported on April 14, 2026, that it was investigating retailers over potentially misleading claims during an earlier Black Friday sale period. ACCC Deputy Chair Catriona Lowe warned against tactics that create a false sense of urgency. The statement concerns Australian Consumer Law; consult the ACCC release for its Australian context.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose early access or a Black Friday-only offer on business grounds
Neither approach is established as objectively superior by the available evidence. Compare the practical tradeoffs before choosing:
- Timing: An early offer may reach shoppers who are already planning, while a Black Friday-only offer concentrates the promotion around the event.
- Audience: Early access needs a clear, appropriate eligibility rule and a way to reach that audience with consent.
- Inventory and margin: Check whether stock and discount economics support the offer for the planned period.
- Clarity and execution: Ensure terms are understandable and channels, staffing, and measurement are ready for the schedule.
Use prior campaign results and current operating constraints to decide; the cited sources do not supply a controlled comparison that settles the choice.
