Bitcoin’s rebound to $82,837 on Friday, October 9, 2026, followed a dip to $80,427 the day before—but it did not erase downside concerns. A Myriad prediction market reported by Decrypt put the chance of Bitcoin trading at or below $80,000 at some point in October at 67%. That is a dated market price, not a guarantee or a consensus forecast: other indicators in reports from late September and early October pointed in mixed directions.
What happened to Bitcoin, and what did traders price in?
Decrypt reported that Bitcoin rose 1.38% to $82,837 on Friday, October 9, after touching $80,427 on Thursday. The Thursday low was described as the lowest since early September. These are figures from Decrypt’s October 9 report, not live prices.
At the time of that report, Myriad assigned a 67% chance to Bitcoin trading at or below $80,000 at some point during October. The reported odds were 40% for $77,500 and 24% for $75,000. A separate weekly Myriad market put the chance of ending the week above $87,500 at 49%. Together, those prices show a range of outcomes participants were pricing—not a single, agreed direction.

Why the rebound did not settle the outlook
Bitcoin’s move higher came after a sharp pullback, but the market evidence available around the report was not one-sided. Decrypt cited ETF outflows and macroeconomic context, while options reports published on different dates showed mixed-to-bullish positioning. Those indicators describe different parts of the market and should not be treated as interchangeable measures of sentiment.
Flows and macro context in Decrypt’s October 9 report
Decrypt reported Bitcoin ETF outflows of $484.9 million on Wednesday and $244 million on Thursday, describing Wednesday’s outflow as the largest since June 25. It also cited a 10-year Treasury yield of 5.32% and Federal Reserve minutes that, according to the story, pointed to another rate hike by year-end. These were contemporaneous details; the report does not establish that any one of them caused Bitcoin’s decline.

Derivatives signals as of September 30
In a September 30 report, Deribit Insights, citing Block Scholes, described Bitcoin consolidating between $82,000 and $84,000 after touching $86,000 the previous week. The report said BTC and ETH spot ETFs had recorded more than seven consecutive days of inflows at that earlier point.
Its short-dated BTC 25-delta skew analysis was mixed: demand for downside protection alternated with positioning for a possible rally as traders weighed the macro backdrop. A 25-delta risk reversal compares implied volatility for 25-delta calls and puts, indicating relative options demand for upside versus downside exposure. It is an options-market measure, not a direct forecast of where Bitcoin will trade.

Options and spot-market context as of October 7
Glassnode’s October 7 report characterized options positioning as bullish. It said both open-interest and traded-volume put/call ratios were below one and in the lower third of their 2026 ranges; open interest represented about 0.56 puts for each call. Over 30 days, average daily spending on calls was about $17 million higher than spending on puts. Those figures are Glassnode’s measures of options activity, not a universal gauge of all traders’ beliefs.
At the same time, Glassnode described subdued spot volume, limited new money relative to the increase in realized capitalization, and notable profit-taking by short-term holders around the October 4 close above $85,000. Its conclusion was that “The market now leans on positioning more than on fresh demand.” The combination helps explain how bullish options positioning can coexist with concern about weak participation in spot markets.

What the cited price levels can—and cannot—tell you
Decrypt’s October 9 article identified $83,000 as a test zone, citing Bitwise Europe’s Luke Deans, who said it combined the average ETF cost basis with the previous higher-high level. The article named $84,433 as the next zone and $87,354.33—the September high—as a level buyers would need to close above. These were the article’s technical reference points, not guaranteed support or resistance.

It identified nearby lower clusters around $81,700–$83,300, another near $75,000, and the largest one-year cluster above price between $87,100 and $95,900, heaviest near $92,000. Its venue-specific Binance order-book snapshot showed a bid block at $81,000–$81,250 and an ask block at $86,500–$86,750. These model and order-book levels can change quickly; they are not price targets or promises that Bitcoin will reach or hold those levels. Glassnode noted that its data cutoffs varied by measure through October 7 and that its latest daily data could be revised.

How to interpret the downside odds
- Prediction-market odds concern a defined event and time window—in this case, trading at or below a threshold during October.
- Options skew and put/call ratios reflect relative pricing or activity in options at particular dates, strikes, and tenors. Different metrics can tell different stories.
- ETF flows and spot volume describe demand and market participation, not a direct prediction of future prices.
- Liquidation maps and order books estimate or display potential liquidity concentrations that can move as positions and orders change.
So, on the evidence reported October 9, a move to $80,000 or lower was a material possibility in Myriad’s October market, but not a settled outcome or broad analyst consensus. The rebound and the conflicting signals from options, flows, and spot activity make a single-direction reading unwarranted.
