Bitcoin mining hosting usually means ASIC colocation: you own the physical miner and place it in a managed facility that supplies power, cooling, security, and agreed operational support. It is different from cloud hashrate, where you buy a contract or share of computing power rather than host your own machine. If you are comparing hosts, get a dated, itemized quote and the contract for the exact facility and hardware before deciding; a headline electricity rate alone does not show the full cost or risk.

What “crypto hosting” means in this comparison

The phrase can describe different services. Here, it means hosting customer-owned Bitcoin ASIC miners in a third-party facility, not buying a cloud mining or hashrate contract. In colocation, the customer retains ownership of the machine while the host provides some combination of site access, electricity, cooling, physical security, monitoring, maintenance, and repairs. The contract determines exactly which services are included. Spark and MiningStore describe these distinctions in their comparisons and guides.

Cloud hashrate contracts are a different product: the customer pays for an agreed amount or share of computing power, rather than placing a personally owned ASIC at a facility. Compare ownership, fees, and operating risks separately; a hosting rate cannot be directly compared with a cloud contract price.

Which Bitcoin mining hosts are worth investigating?

A July 2026 U.S. comparison names MiningStore, Simple Mining, Compass Mining, Bitdeer, Blockware Solutions, and Abundant Mines as companies to investigate. This is a secondary-source shortlist, not an audit, endorsement, or confirmation that a company currently has space for your hardware. The comparison describes different operating models, including owner-operators, a marketplace, customer-owned hosting, and hashrate contracts. MiningStore’s guide also outlines its own service and facilities; those company claims should not be treated as independently verified.

Before seeking a quote, confirm directly that the provider accepts your miner model and fleet size, serves your intended geography, and can identify the facility where the machines would run. Ask whether the company owns and operates the site or arranges space at a partner facility. That distinction can affect who controls day-to-day operations and who is accountable when a machine is offline.

How to compare hosting companies

Use the same questions for each provider and facility. Compare written, facility-specific terms rather than relying on a generic rate card or a broad company description.

1. Establish the full price

Ask for a dated quote for the exact miner, quantity, destination, and facility. It should separate electricity from demand, transmission, or other power charges, and list management fees, setup, repairs, parts, deposits, shipping, insurance, and any other recurring or one-time costs. A headline rate may omit charges that materially change the bill. Spark’s comparison discusses illustrative rates and this limitation, while MiningStore’s July 2026 guide estimates about $0.06–$0.09 per kWh all-in for retail-scale U.S. colocation. MiningStore says the estimate varies by region, term, and included services; it is not a live quote or an independently established industry average. Spark’s comparison and MiningStore’s guide should not be combined into a market-wide average.

For a useful comparison, make sure providers define “all-in” the same way and state whether the price is fixed, adjustable, or subject to additional charges. Record the date of each offer; older comparison-table rates do not establish what a facility will offer now.

2. Read the contract for term, renewal, and exit

Record the minimum commitment, renewal mechanism, required notice, termination rights, deposit refund conditions, and costs to remove or relocate equipment. A SEC-filed annual report documents historical examples of hosting agreements with a nine-month term and a one-year term that renewed automatically unless a party gave at least 90 days’ advance written notice, subject to the agreement’s other terms. Those examples show why the wording matters; they do not establish current terms for any company on the shortlist. The SEC filing is a historical illustration, not a current provider offer.

3. Verify facility operations and accountability

  • Identify the exact facility location and the company that owns, operates, or brokers it.
  • Check whether the site’s power arrangement and cooling support the miner’s requirements.
  • Ask how uptime is defined, how outages and curtailments are handled, and whether machine-level operating reports are available.
  • Get the repair workflow in writing, including labor rates, parts charges, approval requirements, and responsibility for shipping a faulty machine.
  • Clarify whether the host may curtail operations, under what conditions, and how any resulting downtime is treated.

4. Establish ownership and custody protections

Confirm that the contract identifies the customer as owner of each machine and explains who has physical custody, who can access or move the equipment, and what happens if the relationship ends. Ask how machines are identified in inventory and reporting, how insurance applies during storage and operation, and what process applies if the provider becomes insolvent. Do not assume that asset custody, deposit refunds, or exit rights are uniform across hosts; the available comparisons and historical filing do not establish a standard answer.

5. Match the host to your equipment

Give the provider the miner’s power draw, efficiency, quantity, and cooling requirements, then ask it to confirm compatibility with the specific facility. A quote for a different machine or site may not apply to yours. Confirm whether the quoted service includes monitoring, maintenance, and repairs, rather than assuming these are part of colocation.

What the available price and capacity figures do—and do not—show

MiningStore’s July 2026 guide reports an indicative range of about $0.06–$0.09 per kWh all-in for retail-scale U.S. colocation, with variation by region, contract term, and bundle. It is the company guide’s estimate, not a current offer or a verified industry benchmark. Spark lists selected illustrative rates and contract details, but the figures are secondary-source estimates without a clearly established common methodology in the material reviewed. Do not treat either source as a substitute for a comparable, current quote. Spark’s comparison · MiningStore’s guide · Spark’s rate table

MiningStore’s July 2026 guide also reports 11 Iowa facilities, 62.5 MW of total capacity, 59 MW live, more than 10,000 ASICs, 1.2 EH/s under management, and more than 180 institutional clients since 2016. These are company-reported figures in its guide, not independently audited figures established here. They may be useful context about the company’s stated scale, but they do not demonstrate that a particular facility has available capacity or that a specific miner will receive a stated service level. How to assess mining economics without relying on a host’s promise

Hosting is an operating arrangement, not a guarantee of mining profit. Outcomes depend on the miner’s performance and actual operating conditions, as well as the costs and terms in the specific quote. The available provider comparisons do not establish current profitability for any host.

Request machine-level assumptions behind any earnings or operating estimate, then model them independently against the full quoted charges and contract terms. Treat projections as scenarios, not promises, and check that they use the same hardware, power costs, operating assumptions, and time period as the quote you are evaluating.
