Michael Saylor says Bitcoin is at the start of a long adoption cycle rather than the late stage of a short-term rally. His case points to Bitcoin holding above $60,000, reclaiming its 200-week moving average and gaining new demand through exchange-traded funds, corporate treasury companies, digital-credit products and bank lending. That is Saylor’s forward-looking thesis—not independent confirmation that a new bull market has begun.

What Saylor is predicting

In an interview with Binance summarized on October 9, 2026, Saylor described 2026 through 2035 as a Bitcoin “gold rush.” He said Bitcoin is becoming “the world’s digital capital” and compared it with digital gold: a long-term store of value whose adoption is still in an early phase.

Saylor is Strategy’s founder and executive chairman. His forecast therefore reflects both a market view and the interests of a company that holds Bitcoin and issues securities linked to its balance sheet. The interview also discussed Strategy’s STRC preferred-share product, so readers should separate his corporate thesis from neutral evidence about market direction.

Did Bitcoin already bottom near $60,000?

At a Mizuho event, Saylor said forced selling probably exhausted itself near $60,000 in early February 2026. CoinDesk reported his argument that a durable reversal depends more on liquidity and capital structure than on investor sentiment alone. In that interpretation, exchange-traded-fund inflows and corporate treasury demand absorb available supply, helping establish a floor.

Bitkey Bitcoin Hardware Wallet, No Screen - Self-Custody, No Seed Phrase
  • BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
  • SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
  • NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
  • 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
  • BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.

“Bottomed” is Saylor’s assessment, not a confirmed historical fact. Bitcoin can retest or break a previous low, and the $60,000 level describes the area he identified rather than a guaranteed support price.

Saylor’s 200-week moving-average test

Saylor says he normally watches Bitcoin’s 200-week moving average and whether the market trades at a premium or discount to it. The average is a long-term trend line calculated from roughly four years of weekly closing prices.

  • Above the average: Saylor treats sustained trading above the line as evidence that the long-term trend has recovered.
  • Below the average: A discount can signal that the market remains in a prolonged risk-off phase.
  • Premium or discount: The distance from the average matters, not just a brief move across it.

According to the Binance summary, he believes Bitcoin found support above $60,000 and then recovered above this moving average after liquidity had shifted toward artificial-intelligence fundraising. The indicator is a framework for judging trend and valuation relative to history, not a standalone prediction tool.

Four adoption channels behind the forecast

1. ETF and wrapped-Bitcoin securitization

Exchange-traded funds and wrapped versions of Bitcoin package spot exposure into securities that can fit existing brokerage, fund and custody systems. Saylor’s argument is that these structures broaden access and can channel institutional capital without every buyer managing native-wallet infrastructure.

2. Public Bitcoin treasury companies

Public companies can raise equity or debt and place part of the proceeds into Bitcoin. This creates an equity wrapper around a Bitcoin treasury and may generate additional buying when companies issue capital. It also introduces corporate leverage, dilution and management risk that direct Bitcoin ownership does not have.

3. Digital-credit instruments

Saylor presents instruments such as Strategy’s STRC as “digital credit.” He compared Bitcoin with a fighter jet and digital credit with a passenger jet: Bitcoin is the high-performance underlying asset, while a credit security is designed to carry a broader set of investors through a different risk-and-income structure.

CoinDesk described STRC as carrying an 11.5% yield during the April 2026 Mizuho discussion. That figure is time-sensitive and should not be treated as a permanent rate, guaranteed return or description of current terms.

4. Bank custody and lending

Saylor calls bank custody of Bitcoin and loans secured by it the least mature channel and potentially the most important over the next 36 months. His proposed catalyst is the combination of traditional banking credit with “digital credit” on Bitcoin, allowing owners to borrow against holdings instead of relying only on buy-and-hold demand.

Why liquidity matters more than a slogan

Saylor says, “We don’t have any particular target. We accumulate Bitcoin as we raise capital.” That approach links future purchases to financing conditions. When capital is available, treasury companies or credit vehicles may buy; when financing tightens, issuance and demand can slow.

He also described the crypto economy as perhaps $3 trillion against roughly $1,000 trillion to $1,200 trillion in other assets. Those comparisons illustrate the size of the addressable market in his presentation, but they are not a forecast of how much money will move into Bitcoin.

What “99% mined by 2035” means

Saylor says 99% of all Bitcoin will have been mined by 2035. Bitcoin’s protocol caps supply at 21 million coins, so the statement refers to the declining flow of newly issued coins, not to 99% of coins being available for sale or evenly distributed. Lost coins, long-term holdings and changing market demand still affect the amount that actually trades.

Ways investors can express a Bitcoin view

Exposure What it provides Main trade-offs
Spot BTC Direct exposure to Bitcoin’s market price Wallet or custodian decisions, full price volatility and no built-in income
Bitcoin ETF Exchange-traded exposure through a regulated fund structure Fund fees, tracking differences, broker access and product-specific regulatory risk
Treasury-company equity Indirect Bitcoin exposure through a public company Share dilution, corporate debt, operating risk and possible premium or discount to underlying holdings
Preferred or digital-credit instrument A security designed around income or credit characteristics linked to a Bitcoin treasury Issuer and interest-rate risk, changing terms, subordination, liquidity and potential loss of principal

The cited coverage describes these mechanisms but does not establish that any option is suitable for a particular investor. A security’s yield is not the same as Bitcoin’s expected return, and a company’s share price can diverge sharply from the value of its coins.

What could disprove or weaken the thesis?

  • Bitcoin could remain below its 200-week moving average or fall back through the level Saylor views as support.
  • ETF inflows, treasury-company issuance or bank lending could slow as liquidity conditions change.
  • Borrowing against Bitcoin could amplify forced selling during a price decline rather than create steady demand.
  • Corporate financing can produce dilution, higher interest costs or securities that trade poorly.
  • Regulatory, custody and counterparty failures could limit the growth of credit products even if spot demand remains strong.

The evidence readers should separate

Saylor’s $60,000 bottom call, 200-week-average framework and 2026–2035 adoption window are his interpretation of market data and industry structure. The more concrete facts are that Strategy reported holding more than 840,000 bitcoin—over 4% of the eventual 21-million-coin supply—in the interview coverage, and that STRC’s quoted yield was 11.5% at the April 2026 discussion. Holdings, prices, yields and product terms can change quickly.

The defensible conclusion is narrower than “Bitcoin is definitely in a bull market”: Saylor sees the early stages of a credit- and institution-driven adoption cycle. Confirmation would require sustained market behavior and capital flows, not his statement alone.
