Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host Beyond Ascension, build the server on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.22 and Java 17, copy the pack’s config, kubejs, default config, and mods folders into the Forge server directory, remove the client-only mods identified by the pack guide, then launch with run.bat. Every player must use the same Beyond Ascension release and loader profile.
The current files page lists Beyond Ascension-Ver2.9.3, uploaded October 14, 2026. Treat that release number as changeable: check the files page immediately before you install so the server and every client use the same version. The project describes an action-focused adventure and exploration pack with 500+ mods, epic bosses, dragons, magic, quests, more than 100 new mobs, and more than 500 new structures.

Because the pack contains hundreds of mods and extensive world content, a server administrator should keep the installation unchanged until a clean connection has been verified. Do not mix files from different releases, even when the Minecraft and Forge numbers look identical.
Choose self-hosting or managed hosting
Both approaches can run a multiplayer world. The difference is who handles the machine, network, updates, backups, and recovery work.

Self-host when you want file-level control and are comfortable administering a machine and network. Choose managed hosting when a persistent address and reduced infrastructure work matter more than direct control. Neither option has a published Beyond Ascension player-capacity benchmark.
Prepare the client profile and server directory
Use one clean client installation as the source for the server files. Install the exact Beyond Ascension release that your friends will play, then locate its profile folder in your launcher. Before copying anything, stop the game and close the launcher so files are not being changed during the copy.

- Install Java 17 and confirm that the Java executable available to the installer is the Java 17 runtime, not an older or newer system default.
- Install the client profile through CurseForge. Its normal flow is Browse or Discover, select the modpack and compatible loader/version, then launch it from My Modpacks.
- Create a dedicated, writable server folder with enough free disk space for the Forge files, the generated world, logs, and backups. Keep it separate from the client profile so a later client repair cannot overwrite the server.
- Record the exact pack filename shown on the files page. A server running one release and clients running another can fail before the world loads or disconnect players for missing and extra mods.
Install Forge 47.4.22 as a server
- Obtain the Forge installer for Minecraft 1.20.1, version 47.4.22, and run it with Java 17.
- In the Forge installer, select Install server, choose the dedicated server directory you created, and complete the installation. The result should include Forge’s server launcher files and a
run.batfile on Windows. - Start the newly installed server once if the installer creates first-run files or prompts. Complete any first-run acceptance prompt shown by the server, then stop it before copying the modpack folders.
- From the matching Beyond Ascension client profile, copy the entire
configfolder into the server directory. Merge only when the destination is empty; do not silently overwrite a deliberately edited server configuration during a later update. - Copy the client profile’s
kubejsfolder into the server directory. KubeJS scripts can control recipes, quests, progression, and world behavior, so omitting this folder can produce a world that does not match the pack. - Copy the
default configfolder and themodsfolder as supplied by the profile. Preserve filenames and subfolders exactly. - Before the final launch, remove the client-only files listed in the next section. A dedicated server must not load graphical, interface, or client integration mods simply because they were present in the client profile.
Remove client-only mods before the first real launch
The official server instructions identify client-side files that must not remain in the server’s mods directory. The explicitly named entries include the following:

This is not a safe substitute for the live guide’s complete removal list: the guide names additional client, UI, and visual files beyond the entries above, and that list is version-sensitive. Open the current Beyond Ascension server instructions for the release you installed and remove every mod marked client-only. Do not guess based solely on a filename; leaving one incompatible client file in the server directory can prevent startup.
Apply the documented server settings
- Open
server.propertiesin a plain-text editor after the first server files have been generated. - Enable the server’s flight setting. This is an optional pack-guide setting that prevents legitimate flight mechanics from being rejected by the server.
- Set the server tick-time value to
-1, as specified in the author’s setup instructions. Keep a backup of the original file so you can undo tuning changes. - If you change render distance, make the corresponding change in both
server.propertiesand the ServerCore configuration file inside the server’sconfigfolder. Editing only one location can leave the effective distance different from what you expect. - Save the file without changing its key names, separators, or character encoding. Restart the server after property changes so the new values are loaded.
The flight, tick-time, and render-distance edits are tuning choices from the pack author’s guide, not proof of a universal performance setting. If a machine becomes unstable, revert the last tuning change and test with fewer simultaneous players before changing several values at once.
Start the server and make it reachable
- Run
run.batfrom the server directory. Keep the console window open while testing; its messages are the fastest way to identify a missing dependency, malformed configuration, or failed script. - Wait for a completed server startup indication before attempting to connect. If the process exits, read the final error and correct that issue rather than repeatedly launching the batch file.
- For players outside your home network, configure router port forwarding and operating-system firewall access according to your router and OS documentation. The pack guide leaves this networking step to the administrator, so the exact screens depend on your equipment and internet provider.
- Give friends the address and port shown by your network configuration. Never publish administrative credentials or expose unrelated services on the same forwarded rule.
- Test from a second connection, such as a phone hotspot, if possible. A local connection can work even when forwarding or firewall rules are wrong for internet players.
Install the matching profile for every player
- Each player opens CurseForge and uses Browse or Discover to find Beyond Ascension.
- Select the same Minecraft version, Forge loader, and pack release used by the server. For the current listing, that means the 1.20.1 Forge profile for Beyond Ascension-Ver2.9.3, unless the files page has changed before deployment.
- Launch the profile from My Modpacks once in single-player. This lets the launcher finish downloading dependencies before the player attempts a network connection.
- Connect using the server address. If the client reports missing or extra mods, stop and compare the two
modsdirectories and pack versions; do not install random replacements or update individual files.
Preflight checklist before inviting the group
- Java reports version 17 for the account that launches the server.
- Forge 47.4.22 is installed for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- The server and clients use the same Beyond Ascension release.
config,kubejs,default config, andmodswere copied from that matching profile.- Every client-only mod identified by the current guide has been removed from the server.
- Flight and tick-time settings match the documented values, and render distance is consistent in both configuration locations if you changed it.
run.batstarts without a fatal error and remains running.- A local connection works, and an external test confirms router and firewall configuration.
- A backup plan exists for the world and configuration before anyone begins a long-term play session.
Troubleshoot common Beyond Ascension server failures
The game or launcher appears stuck while loading
Restart the client and try again, as the pack author recommends. If the problem returns, verify that the client profile is the exact release selected for the server and that you have not added an unapproved graphics or optimization mod.

The server stops during startup after copying the client profile
Recheck the client-only removal list first. Mods such as Oculus, Rubidium extras, BetterF3, and visual effect or menu mods are intended for the client and can make a dedicated server fail when left in its mods folder. Compare the server directory with a clean profile rather than deleting files at random.
Players report a missing-mod or mismatched-version error
Do not update one mod independently. The pack author explicitly advises against individual mod updates because a curated pack’s scripts, configs, and dependencies are versioned together. Reinstall the same Beyond Ascension release on the affected client and copy the matching server folders again if necessary.
CurseForge launches the wrong way or fails before Minecraft opens
Disable CurseForge’s Skip Mojang Launcher option. The pack guide identifies that setting as a source of problems for this pack.

A Mac client has a problem associated with Spark
The pack instructions tell Mac users to remove Spark when troubleshooting this issue. Make that change only on the affected client unless the current guide states otherwise, then restart the launcher and test again.
Internet players cannot connect, but the host can
Check the router’s forwarding rule, the operating-system firewall, and whether your internet provider places the connection behind carrier-grade NAT. Test from outside the home network; local success does not verify internet reachability. If you use managed hosting, give the provider the console error and connection time instead of changing pack files yourself.
The hosted installation fails
Contact the hosting provider with the exact Beyond Ascension release, Minecraft and Forge versions, startup log, and the first fatal error. The pack author directs users with hosted-server problems to their provider because control-panel paths and supported Java runtimes differ.

Update or rebuild without breaking the world
Release files are volatile. The current listing is Beyond Ascension-Ver2.9.3 as of October 14, 2026, but a newer file may be published when you deploy. Use this controlled sequence for an update:

- Stop the server cleanly and make a restorable backup of the world,
config,kubejs,default config, and server properties. - Check the current Beyond Ascension files page and record the exact new release, Minecraft version, and Forge requirement.
- Install the new client profile separately rather than modifying the working profile in place.
- Build a staging server from the new profile, repeat the client-only removal process, and launch it with a copy of the world.
- Test startup, quest progression, world loading, and a client connection before replacing the production directory.
- Keep the previous server directory and backup until the group has played successfully on the new release.
A historical CurseForge files page shows a dedicated Beyond Ascension-Ver1.5.3-[Server-Pack].zip uploaded July 10, 2025. That historical archive does not establish that a separately maintained server-pack ZIP exists for version 2.9.3, so do not rely on finding or downloading one. Build from the current instructions and files page unless a current server package is explicitly listed.
What the setup process does—and does not—guarantee
Following the documented Forge, Java, folder-copy, removal, property, and networking steps gives you a supported starting configuration for multiplayer. It does not guarantee a fixed player count, a universal RAM requirement, or identical performance on every machine. Beyond Ascension’s client recommendation is 8 GB of allocated memory; no tested server minimum or capacity figure is published. Monitor the console, keep backups, and change one setting at a time when diagnosing tick delays or crashes.
For a small group with an administrator comfortable with Java, files, and router settings, self-hosting offers the most control. For a group that needs an always-on world without maintaining local networking and hardware, a managed provider—such as the Kinetic option named by the pack author—can reduce infrastructure work, but verify its current support and capacity for this specific Forge pack before committing.
