The game behind the “Fallout studio’s 10/10 fantasy epic” headline is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, not a newly announced Fallout title. Bethesda Game Studios rebuilt the 2006 role-playing game for modern systems, and its international reach is substantial—but no authoritative source establishes a universal 10/10 score or a literal worldwide takeover.
Which game does the headline describe?
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is Bethesda Game Studios’ 2025 ground-up remaster of Oblivion, the 2006 fantasy role-playing game set in Cyrodiil. Bethesda’s studio profile identifies it as the creator of both Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, and lists Oblivion among its Game of the Year-winning titles. That shared authorship explains the “Fallout studio” shorthand; it does not mean the project is a new entry in the Fallout series.
Bethesda’s own description emphasizes a rebuilt presentation, refined gameplay and the original game’s quests and characters. The remaster is therefore best understood as a modernized version of a known Elder Scrolls release rather than a separate, unannounced fantasy franchise.
Platforms and physical availability
The remaster was rebuilt for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. These are the platforms Bethesda names in its 2025 recap; the announcement does not establish a version for older console generations.

A physical product option is confirmed. Bethesda’s recap states: “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered now has a Physical Deluxe Edition.” That makes the game relevant to readers looking for a boxed or deluxe release, although the statement alone does not specify every included item, retailer, regional stock level or price.
Is it really a “10/10” game?
“10/10” is headline language, not a score verified by Bethesda’s official material. The available official descriptions praise the world, quests, characters, visuals and gameplay refinements, but they do not establish a universal critic rating or an industry-wide consensus. Any review-score comparison should name the publication or aggregate being cited and identify whether the number applies to the original game, the remaster or a particular platform.

Why people say Bethesda is “taking over the world”
Bethesda’s audience figures and the Fallout television adaptation show genuine global scale, but they describe reach rather than literal market domination.
Rank #3
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernises the 2006 Game of the Year with all new stunning visuals and refined gameplay.
| Evidence | Figure and qualification | What it demonstrates |
|---|---|---|
| Fallout 4 sales | More than 35 million copies, according to Bethesda Game Studios in 2026 | The long-running series has a very large game audience |
| Fallout Shelter | More than 250 million players, according to Bethesda Game Studios in 2026 | A free-to-play spin-off reached an even broader player base |
| Fallout television series | Global Prime Video debut in more than 240 countries and territories, according to Amazon in 2024 | The franchise launched simultaneously across an unusually wide international footprint |
| Prime Video viewing | Season one ranked among Prime Video’s top three most-watched titles ever, according to Amazon in 2024 | The adaptation expanded awareness beyond existing game players |
Those numbers support “global reach” and a powerful cross-media presence. They do not prove that every market, platform or audience has been captured, nor do they turn Oblivion Remastered into a new Fallout game.
Original Oblivion versus the remaster
The following distinction keeps the 2006 release and the 2025 rebuild from being conflated.

|---|---|---|
| Role | The original fantasy RPG set in Cyrodiil | A ground-up remaster of that game |
| Visual presentation | Original-era visuals | New visuals highlighted by Bethesda |
| Gameplay | Original systems and balancing | Refined gameplay, according to Bethesda |
| Platforms identified by Bethesda | Not stated in the 2025 recap | Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC |

How this fits Bethesda’s announced roadmap
The remaster should not be confused with the studio’s unreleased projects. Bethesda says Fallout 5 is in preproduction. It also says work is underway on remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, without announcing release dates, while Obsidian is collaborating on a new Fallout project. Those statements describe separate efforts, not additional editions of Oblivion Remastered.

Bethesda identifies The Elder Scrolls VI as its primary development focus. In an update about that project, the studio said:
“The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.”
The quote confirms continued development but supplies no launch date, platforms or feature list. It is therefore not evidence that The Elder Scrolls VI has replaced the remaster or that a new fantasy release is imminently arriving.
Quick Recap
What a prospective player should take from the headline
- If you want the game implied by the headline, look for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
- Choose among Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC; Bethesda’s cited announcement does not list older consoles.
- For a boxed purchase, the Physical Deluxe Edition is the officially confirmed option. Contents, pricing and regional availability require checking the retailer and territory where you plan to buy.
- Read “10/10” as an unverified superlative unless a named review source is provided.
- Interpret “taking over the world” as commentary on Bethesda and Fallout’s expanding audience, supported by sales, player and international streaming figures—not as a measurable claim that the game has conquered every market.
