For most buyers, the Eufy Smart Scale P3 is the best Wyze BodyScan alternative. It combines 16 body metrics with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth syncing, unlimited user profiles, and special modes for pregnancy, pacemakers, and athletes. Choose the RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale when the lowest purchase cost and straightforward trend charts matter more than advanced app features. Garmin households should look at the Index S2, while Withings Body Smart is the better step-up for a polished health-data ecosystem.

The important caveat is measurement design. Wyze BodyScan’s defining feature is its handheld, eight-electrode, dual-frequency system that analyzes the arms, legs, and torso separately. The alternatives listed here are primarily foot-only scales, so they can provide useful whole-body trend estimates but are not like-for-like replacements for segmental readings.

Quick comparison: which alternative fits your priorities?

The table separates the features that actually change the buying decision: how the scale measures you, how much data it reports, how it syncs, and which ecosystem benefits from the data.

What makes Wyze BodyScan different?

Wyze describes BodyScan as its most affordable smart scale with a BodyScan handle. Its quoted feature set includes 17 body-composition metrics, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 4.3-inch TFT screen. Wyze Canada describes a dual-frequency, eight-electrode bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) system that examines the arms, legs, and torso separately.

That last capability is the key distinction. A conventional foot-only scale sends a small electrical signal through the parts of the body that contact its electrodes and uses an algorithm to estimate whole-body composition. A handle adds contact points for the hands, allowing the device to model segments individually. If your goal is to see separate arm, leg, and torso estimates, a foot-only model cannot provide the same type of reading simply by reporting more metrics.

TechRadar listed BodyScan at $84.98 in an October 2026 review and called segmental muscle and fat analysis unusual at that price. Prices and availability can change by country and retailer, so use that figure only as a dated reference when judging value.

Best feature-rich budget alternative: Eufy Smart Scale P3

Why it stands out

Tom’s Guide’s 2025 coverage identifies Anker’s Eufy Smart Scale P3 as a budget-friendly model with 16 metrics, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth synchronization, and support for unlimited users. It also includes pregnancy, pacemaker, and athlete modes. That combination makes it the closest all-round choice for someone who wants automatic data transfer and a broad dashboard without specifically requiring a handle.

Wi-Fi matters when you want the scale to upload readings without your phone being nearby. Bluetooth is useful for direct setup or for situations in which Wi-Fi is unavailable. Having both connection methods gives the P3 more flexibility than a Bluetooth-only scale, although the practical experience still depends on your home network and the app.

Who should buy it

  • Households with several people who need separate profiles.
  • Buyers who want Wi-Fi uploads as well as Bluetooth pairing.
  • People who value special-use modes, including pregnancy, pacemaker, or athlete settings.
  • Readers who want a broad set of metrics but do not need arm-, leg-, and torso-level results.

What it does not replace

The P3 is not established as a segmental, handle-based alternative to BodyScan. Its 16-metric count is also not directly comparable to Wyze’s 17 because metric names, algorithms, and display conventions can differ between manufacturers. Treat the count as a description of dashboard breadth, not as a measurement-accuracy ranking.

Best low-cost choice: RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale

Why it stands out

Tom’s Guide describes the RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale as easy to use and capable of providing a broad range of body-composition information. It is the sensible pick when your priority is keeping the initial purchase cost low while still recording trends in an app.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A simple scale can be an advantage. Fewer setup decisions and a straightforward trend view make it easier to weigh yourself on a repeatable schedule. If you mainly want to know whether your measurements are moving over several weeks, the RENPHO model’s broad data set may be sufficient without paying for a handle or a more elaborate ecosystem.

Important limitation

Do not treat the displayed body-fat percentage as clinically exact. The cited coverage does not establish a universal accuracy figure, and no consumer BIA scale should be used as a diagnosis or as a replacement for clinical testing. The value here is consistent tracking under consistent conditions, not a definitive one-time assessment.

Best for Garmin households: Garmin Index S2

The ecosystem is the reason to choose it

Tom’s Guide says the Garmin Index S2 sends data over Wi-Fi to a Garmin account and reports a wide range of body-composition statistics. Its main advantage is integration with Garmin Connect and an existing Garmin watch. If your workouts, weight history, and other activity data already live in Garmin’s system, automatic account synchronization can be more useful than a nominally cheaper scale with a separate app.

  • Train Smarter with Deeper Insights: 8-electrode dual-frequency segmental BIA on this body fat scale reveals muscle and fat changes across different body areas, helping guide workouts, nutrition, and long-term health management.
  • Turn Data into Action: Track 50+ body metrics, including segmental muscle and fat analysis, on this body composition scale to better understand training results, personalize nutrition plans, and support weight management and healthier habits.
  • Guided for Every Measurement: Voice guidance walks you through every scan on the RENPHO MorphoScan Nova, ensuring consistent, accurate measurements for long-term health tracking.

When it is poor value

For someone who does not use Garmin devices or Garmin Connect, the ecosystem benefit largely disappears. You would still receive body-composition estimates, but you would be paying for an integration you may not use. The Index S2 is also a foot-only design in this comparison, so it does not reproduce BodyScan’s arm, leg, and torso analysis.

Best step-up app experience: Withings Body Smart

What it measures

Withings’ official product information calls Body Smart its entry-level scale and lists weight, fat mass, muscle mass, and water measurements. It belongs on a shortlist for readers who want a more polished health-data experience and a coherent app ecosystem.

Why it is not a direct BodyScan replacement

Body Smart should not be described as an equivalent to a handle-based segmental scale. The published feature description does not establish separate arm, leg, and torso readings. Choose it for app and health-data polish, not for the specific measurement geometry that makes BodyScan unusual.

Foot-only versus handle-based scales

What a handle changes

With a handle, electrodes contact the hands as well as the feet. The device can therefore model electrical impedance through multiple body segments instead of relying only on foot contact. BodyScan’s eight-electrode, dual-frequency design is explicitly intended to analyze the arms, legs, and torso separately.

What foot-only scales can still do well

A foot-only scale can be adequate for a repeatable routine: step on under similar conditions, let the app record the result, and watch the direction of change over time. It is usually easier to store, quicker to use, and less cumbersome than a scale with a separate handle. For many people, those practical advantages produce a longer-running data series than a more complicated device that is used irregularly.

How to decide

  • Choose a handle-based model if segment-specific arm, leg, and torso estimates are the reason you are replacing your current scale.
  • Choose a foot-only model if your priority is weight and whole-body trend tracking, household convenience, or a lower entry cost.
  • Do not infer equivalence from metric counts. A 16- or 17-metric dashboard does not tell you whether the scale measures segments separately.

How to interpret body-composition readings

BIA is an estimate, not a direct scan

All of the models discussed use consumer-scale body-composition estimation, and Wyze identifies BodyScan’s method as bioelectrical impedance analysis. BIA results can move with hydration, time of day, skin contact, and other measurement conditions. A reading that changes from morning to evening may reflect those conditions rather than a real change in tissue.

Use trends, not isolated numbers

There is no single accuracy percentage that applies universally to these models in the cited material. Compare readings from the same scale, taken under similar conditions, and look for a direction over repeated measurements. Do not compare a body-fat percentage from one brand directly with a percentage from another and assume the difference represents a physiological change.

Health and safety boundaries

Consumer scale estimates are not diagnoses and should not replace a clinician’s assessment or clinical testing. Follow the manufacturer’s safety guidance, especially if you use an implanted medical device or are pregnant. The P3’s pregnancy and pacemaker modes are useful examples of why the correct mode matters, but a mode label does not turn a consumer estimate into medical-grade measurement.

How to get more consistent readings

Consistency cannot eliminate BIA’s limitations, but it makes your personal trend easier to interpret.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Pick one routine. Weigh at roughly the same time of day and under similar circumstances each time.
  2. Use the same surface. Place the scale on a hard, level floor rather than moving it between carpets and hard flooring.
  3. Keep contact consistent. Stand as the manufacturer illustrates, with clean, dry contact areas and the same stance each time. If the model has a handle, extend and hold it as directed.
  4. Allow synchronization to finish. Keep the app open during initial pairing and confirm that the reading appears in the intended user profile.
  5. Record trends over weeks. One unexpected result is less informative than a repeated pattern collected under the same routine.

Buying framework: match the scale to the data you will actually use

Pick the measurement type first

Start by deciding whether you need segmental analysis. If yes, BodyScan’s handle and separate arm, leg, and torso analysis are the relevant baseline. If no, a foot-only model can meet the goal with less hardware.

Best Value
WITHINGS Body Smart - Accurate Scale for Body Weight and Fat Percentage, Body Composition Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Weight Scale, Baby Weight Scale, Smart Scale Apple Health Compatible, Bathroom Scale
  • A CLINICAL SCAN OF YOUR HEALTH - Body Smart, developed in collaboration with leading hospitals and clinical institutions, has been clinically validated.
  • ACHIEVE YOUR WEIGHT GOALS FASTER - Reliably track your weight to within 50 g and view your weight trends directly on the scale's high-resolution color display.
  • INCREASE MUSCLE MASS FASTER - Increase muscle mass faster by analyzing body composition to tailor efforts.
  • FOLLOW YOUR HEART - Evaluate your heart rate at every weigh-in, a good indicator of overall cardiovascular fitness.
  • BOOST YOUR METABOLISM - Boost your metabolism by estimating the energy your body needs every day.

Then choose the data pathway

  • Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth: Eufy P3 offers both, which is useful for automatic uploads and flexible setup.
  • Garmin account synchronization: Index S2 is most compelling when Garmin Connect already organizes your activity data.
  • General app tracking: RENPHO focuses on accessible trend information, while Withings emphasizes a polished health-data ecosystem.
  • On-device feedback: BodyScan’s quoted 4.3-inch TFT screen reduces the need to check a phone immediately after weighing.

Finally, consider household use

Unlimited profiles are specifically cited for the P3, making it attractive for a multi-person home. Other models may support multiple users, but the available information here does not establish equivalent limits. Confirm profile handling, guest mode, and data separation before purchase if privacy between household members matters.

Common pitfalls and fixes

Expecting a metric count to prove accuracy

Problem: A longer list appears more scientific. Fix: Treat metric count as breadth. Choose based on measurement design, repeatability, and the app workflow you will use.

Comparing readings from different brands

Problem: The percentages appear to jump after switching scales. Fix: Establish a new baseline with the replacement scale and follow its trend rather than splicing unlike readings into one series.

Buying into an ecosystem accidentally

Problem: You pay for Garmin or another health platform without using it. Fix: Select Index S2 mainly when Garmin Connect is already part of your routine; otherwise compare the standalone app experience and total cost.

Ignoring special-use settings

Problem: A standard mode is used when a manufacturer provides a pregnancy, pacemaker, or athlete option. Fix: Read the mode descriptions before setup and follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions. Ask a qualified clinician if you are unsure whether a BIA feature is appropriate for you.

Bottom line by buyer type

  • Best overall budget alternative: Eufy Smart Scale P3 for 16 metrics, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, unlimited users, and special modes.
  • Best low-cost basic tracker: RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale when broad trend data matters more than segmental analysis.
  • Best for Garmin users: Garmin Index S2 because Wi-Fi synchronization and Garmin Connect integration are the differentiators.
  • Best app-focused step-up: Withings Body Smart for weight, fat mass, muscle mass, and water data in a polished health ecosystem.
  • Best when segmental readings are non-negotiable: Wyze BodyScan remains the baseline because its handle-based, eight-electrode design analyzes arms, legs, and torso separately.
