If you switch between Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and a computer, the Logitech G Astro A50 X is the clearest fit because its base station is designed for one-tap switching among those systems. The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless is the stronger balance of advertised runtime and multi-platform design, while the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless is the battery-life specialist for PC users. Those conclusions use manufacturer specifications, not a common independent battery test, so the exact model suffix and connection method matter as much as the headline hours.
Quick answer: which headset fits your setup?
Choose by the devices you actually use, not by battery hours alone. A headset that lasts longer but does not support your console is not a practical upgrade.
| Best fit | Model | Advertised battery life | What the manufacturer documents | Main qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC/Mac switching | Logitech G Astro A50 X LIGHTSPEED | 24 hours | One-tap switching among Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC/Mac; base station with HDMI 2.1 console connections and magnetic charging cradle | Its base-station and HDMI installation is central to the setup |
| Multi-platform use with a longer stated runtime | SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless | 38 hours | SteelSeries labels the headset multi-platform and presents the Xbox-oriented 7X version | Verify whether the 7, 7P or 7X SKU matches your console |
| Maximum stated runtime on PC | HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless | Up to 300 hours | PC compatibility; USB wireless adapter and charging cable included | HyperX says runtime varies with use and tested the figure at 50% headphone volume |
The source pages list manufacturer claims made under different conditions. They do not establish that one headset will deliver its advertised number in every game, volume setting or connection mode.

Advertised hours are not a head-to-head test
The 38-hour, 24-hour and up-to-300-hour figures come from SteelSeries, Logitech G and HyperX product pages, respectively. No common laboratory procedure or independently measured category comparison is provided for all three models. Treat the numbers as useful planning estimates from each manufacturer rather than a controlled ranking.

Volume and usage change the result
HyperX explicitly says the Cloud Alpha Wireless figure varies with use and identifies 50% headphone volume as its test condition. The other pages do not provide an equivalent volume condition in the supplied specifications. Higher volume, microphone use, wireless traffic and other headset features can therefore produce different real-world intervals.
Check the exact suffix before buying
“Arctis Nova 7” is a family name, not a guarantee that every version works identically with every console. The SteelSeries page used for the 38-hour claim is configured for the Xbox-oriented Nova 7X. Confirm the page or package says 7X, 7P or the standard 7 as appropriate for your system. Do not use the Nova 7X specification as proof that all Nova 7 variants have the same console support.
Logitech G Astro A50 X: best for switching Xbox, PS5 and PC
What it supports
Logitech G documents connections to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC/Mac, with switching among the three systems using a tap. This is the most explicit multi-console workflow in this group. The product page is Logitech G’s Astro A50 X specification page.
Why the base station matters
The A50 X is not simply a headset that pairs independently with every device. Its base station is the hub for the documented setup. Logitech G describes HDMI 2.1 connections for consoles, USB-C connection to a PC or Mac, and a magnetic charging cradle. Plan where the base station will sit and ensure your console-to-display cabling can accommodate it before you buy.
Battery and charging
Logitech G states 24 hours of battery life. The magnetic cradle gives you a fixed place to recharge between sessions, but the supplied material does not provide a comparable charge-time figure. The 24-hour claim should not be compared as if it were measured under the same conditions as the Nova 7X or Cloud Alpha Wireless.
Who should choose it
- Choose it when one headset must serve Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC/Mac and quick switching is more important than the longest interval between charges.
- Choose it when you are comfortable with a dedicated base station and HDMI 2.1 console wiring.
Who should look elsewhere
- If you want the fewest cables or a headset that can be moved between rooms without its hub, the base-station design may be inconvenient.
- If your priority is the highest advertised runtime, the 24-hour claim is lower than the Nova 7X’s 38 hours and the Cloud Alpha Wireless’s up-to-300-hour claim.
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless: the balanced multi-platform option
What SteelSeries claims
SteelSeries labels the Arctis Nova 7X Wireless a multi-platform premium wireless gaming headset and advertises 38 hours of battery life. The exact page used for that figure is SteelSeries’ Arctis Nova 7X Wireless page, which is set to the Xbox primary platform.
Why the model selector is important
The “X” suffix identifies the Xbox-oriented version shown by the source page. SteelSeries also sells Nova 7 and Nova 7P variants, and the supplied evidence does not establish identical console functionality across those versions. Before ordering, select the version intended for your primary console and verify the listed secondary devices. “Multi-platform” should not be read as “every feature works on every platform.”
Battery and everyday fit
At 38 advertised hours, the Nova 7X sits between the A50 X and Cloud Alpha Wireless on paper. That makes it a sensible compromise for someone who needs more endurance than a typical one-day headset but still wants a multi-platform design. There is no independent runtime measurement in the supplied material, so the figure remains a manufacturer specification.

Important naming warning: Nova 7X is not Arctis 7X
SteelSeries also has a separate product called Arctis 7X. It is not the same headset as Arctis Nova 7X Wireless. Do not transfer the Nova 7X’s 38-hour claim or feature list to the older 7X model.
HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless: longest stated battery life for PC
What the product page documents
HyperX advertises up to 300 hours for the Cloud Alpha Wireless and lists compatibility as PC. Its product page is HyperX’s Cloud Alpha Wireless page. HyperX says battery life varies with use and notes that its test used 50% headphone volume.
Connection and charging hardware
The gathered specifications identify a USB wireless adapter and a charge cable. That points to a straightforward PC wireless arrangement, but the evidence does not establish the same console support or switching behavior documented for the A50 X. Do not buy it on the 300-hour figure expecting Xbox or PlayStation functionality that the product page does not list.
Who should choose it
- Choose it when your main or only gaming system is a PC and minimizing charging interruptions is the dominant requirement.
- Choose it when the stated runtime matters more to you than a documented multi-console switching system.
Who should avoid assuming it is suitable
If you need an Xbox-and-PS5 headset, the PC compatibility listing is not enough evidence. Select a model whose manufacturer page explicitly covers your consoles, such as the A50 X’s documented Xbox Series X|S and PS5 setup, or verify the correct Nova 7 variant for your platform.
Arctis 7X setup information: a different headset with useful USB compatibility
The separate Arctis 7X has its own SteelSeries support documentation at SteelSeries Support’s Arctis 7X setup guide. SteelSeries says its USB-C wireless dongle, when used in USB mode, supports PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Android.
This information can help a buyer who is specifically considering the Arctis 7X, but it does not change the Nova 7X comparison. Keep the product names separate when checking listings, firmware instructions, accessories and battery specifications.
Choose by your actual device combination
Xbox Series X|S plus PlayStation 5 plus PC or Mac
Start with the Astro A50 X because Logitech G explicitly documents all three systems and one-tap switching. Its trade-off is the base station, including HDMI 2.1 console connections, and a 24-hour stated runtime. If you would rather accept a different switching process for a longer stated runtime, investigate the exact Nova 7 variant that matches your consoles; the Nova 7X page alone should not be generalized to every version.

Xbox-focused setup with occasional other devices
The Nova 7X page is configured for Xbox and advertises 38 hours while describing the headset as multi-platform. Verify the secondary devices and the exact SKU before purchase. If your other devices are PC, PlayStation or Switch, do not assume identical behavior without checking the selected model’s compatibility details.

PC only, with charging as a nuisance
The Cloud Alpha Wireless is the battery-first choice on the supplied evidence: up to 300 hours, with the important qualification that HyperX measured at 50% volume and says use changes the result. Its listed compatibility is PC, so its very high number should not outweigh platform mismatch.
PC, PlayStation, Switch and Android through a USB-C dongle
For this particular combination, examine the distinct Arctis 7X documentation. SteelSeries’ support page describes USB-mode support for those platforms. This is a different product from Arctis Nova 7X Wireless, so verify the name on the box and listing before relying on the setup instructions.

Astro A50 X
- List the systems you want connected: Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC/Mac are the combinations Logitech G documents.
- Place the base station where its HDMI 2.1 console connections can reach the consoles and display.
- Connect the PC or Mac to the base station using the documented USB-C connection.
- Seat the headset in its magnetic cradle whenever you finish playing so the base station remains part of your charging routine.
- Use the headset’s documented tap-based switching workflow to move among the connected systems.
Arctis Nova 7X Wireless
- Confirm that the product selector and packaging say the version intended for your primary platform; do not confuse 7X with 7P or standard 7.
- Check the manufacturer’s compatibility information for every secondary device you plan to use.
- Record the advertised 38-hour figure as a planning estimate, not a guaranteed runtime under your volume and microphone settings.
- Follow the model-specific wireless and charging instructions supplied with the selected version.
Cloud Alpha Wireless
- Confirm that your computer meets the product page’s PC compatibility listing.
- Connect the supplied USB wireless adapter to the PC.
- Keep the charge cable available at your desk and charge the headset according to HyperX’s instructions.
- Use the up-to-300-hour number with its 50% volume test condition in mind; louder or heavier use can shorten the interval.
Arctis 7X
- Verify that you bought the Arctis 7X rather than the Arctis Nova 7X Wireless.
- Use the USB-C wireless dongle and select USB mode as described by SteelSeries Support.
- Connect it to the supported PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or Android device listed in the support article.
Common buying mistakes and how to prevent them
Choosing the largest number without checking compatibility
“Up to 300 hours” is useful only for a PC buyer on a model whose page lists PC support. It does not establish Xbox or PS5 compatibility. Platform fit comes first; battery duration breaks ties among models that actually connect to your devices.
Assuming every wireless headset switches the same way
The A50 X explicitly uses a base station and tap-based switching among three systems. The Nova 7X is described as multi-platform, but the supplied page does not establish the same three-system switching arrangement. Treat those as different workflows rather than interchangeable marketing terms.
Confusing similarly named products
Arctis Nova 7X Wireless and Arctis 7X are distinct. Their pages, accessories and support instructions should not be mixed. This is especially important when a retailer shortens the product name in a listing.
Expecting manufacturer numbers to predict every session
Battery claims depend on test conditions. HyperX states 50% volume for its Cloud Alpha Wireless figure and says use changes the result; the supplied SteelSeries and Logitech pages do not provide the same condition. Microphone use, volume and other activity can make your result different.
Overlooking the physical installation
The A50 X’s HDMI 2.1 console connections and base station are part of its design, not optional accessories. Measure cable reach and reserve a stable place for the magnetic cradle. If you cannot accommodate that arrangement, a headset with a simpler dongle-based setup may be a better practical choice even with a lower stated runtime.
Decision table
| Your priority | First model to investigate | Reason | Check before purchase |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-tap movement among Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC/Mac | Astro A50 X | Logitech G explicitly documents those three systems and the switching method | Base-station placement, HDMI 2.1 cabling and 24-hour stated battery life |
| Longer runtime while keeping a multi-platform design | Arctis Nova 7X Wireless | SteelSeries advertises 38 hours and labels the headset multi-platform | Exact 7, 7P or 7X suffix and platform-specific feature support |
| Fewest charging interruptions on PC | Cloud Alpha Wireless | HyperX advertises up to 300 hours | PC-only compatibility listing, 50% volume test condition and USB adapter setup |
| USB-C dongle support for PC, PlayStation, Switch and Android | Arctis 7X | SteelSeries Support lists those platforms in USB mode | Confirm it is the separate Arctis 7X, not Nova 7X Wireless |
Final recommendation
For a shared Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC/Mac station, the Astro A50 X is the most clearly documented choice because its base station and tap-based switching are built around that exact combination. For a buyer who wants a longer stated runtime without choosing a PC-only headset, the Arctis Nova 7X Wireless is the balanced option, provided the correct suffix is selected. For a PC player who treats charging frequency as the deciding issue, the Cloud Alpha Wireless has the highest manufacturer claim by a wide margin, but its page lists PC compatibility rather than broad console support. The separate Arctis 7X deserves consideration only when its USB-C dongle workflow and listed PC, PlayStation, Switch and Android support match your devices.
