The best wireless charger for AirPods 5 is a Qi-certified charging pad—but only if you have the AirPods 5 Wireless Charging Case (model A3530). The standard USB-C Charging Case (model A3529) does not support wireless charging, so buying a pad for it will not work. Apple also lists an Apple Watch charger as compatible with the Wireless Charging Case. Identify your case first, then choose the charging method that fits how you use it.
Quick answer: which AirPods 5 cases can charge wirelessly?
Apple sells two AirPods 5 case variants. The distinction matters more than the charger brand or shape:
| Case | Model | Wireless charging | Supported charging methods | Best choice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AirPods 5 Charging Case | A3529 | No wireless charging listed | USB-C connector | A USB-C cable and suitable power source |
| AirPods 5 Wireless Charging Case | A3530 | Yes | Qi-certified charger, Apple Watch charger, or USB-C connector | A Qi-certified pad for general use; an Apple Watch charger if you already use one |
The model number is the decisive check. Both variants use USB-C, so seeing a USB-C port does not by itself tell you whether the case supports wireless charging. Apple’s AirPods 5 Technical Specifications and its Identify your AirPods support documentation list A3529 as the standard case and A3530 as the Wireless Charging Case.

Use the model number, not the connector
Look up the case on Apple’s Identify your AirPods support page and match its model number to A3529 or A3530. A3529 is the USB-C Charging Case. A3530 is the Wireless Charging Case. This is the most reliable way to avoid buying a wireless pad for hardware that cannot use it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The USB-C connector is present on both versions. It remains useful even on A3530, because Apple lists USB-C as a charging option for both cases. The connector therefore confirms that a cable can be used; it does not confirm wireless capability.
Check replacement cases carefully
Apple says the standard and wireless cases are compatible with their respective AirPods 5 earbud variants and not with one another. A replacement case should match the earbud version it is intended to serve. Do not assume that an A3529 case and an A3530 case are interchangeable simply because both have the same connector or belong to the AirPods 5 family.
If you cannot confirm the model
Do not use the case’s appearance, the presence of USB-C, or a seller’s generic “AirPods wireless charger” wording as proof. Confirm the A3530 designation in Apple’s documentation first. If the designation is A3529, skip wireless charging and use USB-C.
The three charging choices for the Wireless Charging Case
1. Qi-certified wireless charging pad
A Qi-certified pad is the clearest general-purpose wireless option because Apple explicitly lists Qi-certified chargers for the A3530 Wireless Charging Case. When shopping by category, look for the manufacturer’s statement that the charger is Qi-certified rather than relying only on a product title that says “wireless.”
The evidence establishes compatibility with the Qi-certified category, not with every product marketed as a wireless pad. No particular third-party model has been independently tested here, and no named model can be ranked on that basis. Certification and the case model are the important checks.

2. Apple Watch charger
Apple also lists an Apple Watch charger for the Wireless Charging Case. This can be convenient if you already keep an Apple Watch charging puck on your desk or bedside table. Apple’s placement guidance still applies: put the case flat and centered on the charger with the status light facing up and the lid closed.
Compatibility does not mean the AirPods case magnetically attaches in the same way an Apple Watch does. Apple identifies the charger as compatible and gives placement instructions, but it does not state that the AirPods 5 case has MagSafe-style magnetic alignment.

3. USB-C cable
USB-C is the fallback—and the only listed charging method for the A3529 standard case. It is also available on A3530. Choose a cable when you do not need drop-and-go charging, when your case is A3529, or when you want a dependable alternative while traveling.
Apple’s specifications do not provide a wireless wattage, a wired wattage, or a comparative time-to-full measurement. A cable should therefore not be described as faster, and a wireless pad should not be described as slower, without a specific measurement for the exact setup.
How to place AirPods 5 on a wireless charger
For a Qi-certified charging mat or a MagSafe charger, Apple’s instructions are straightforward:

- Confirm that the case is the A3530 Wireless Charging Case.
- Connect the charging mat or charger to power according to that charger’s own instructions.
- Close the AirPods case lid.
- Place the case flat on the charger with the status light facing up.
- Center the case on the charging surface and leave it in place.
Apple gives the same essential placement requirements for an Apple Watch charger: the lid should be closed, the status light should face up, and the case should sit centered and flat on the charger. The case does not need to be treated as a magnetically aligned accessory; center placement is the instruction Apple publishes.

How to choose a Qi pad when no model has been tested
Because there are no verified model-by-model test results, choose by evidence and fit rather than by an unsubstantiated “best” ranking.
Confirm Qi certification
Apple’s compatibility statement is specifically for Qi-certified chargers. Check the charger’s technical description or packaging for an explicit Qi certification claim. If the listing only says “wireless charging” and does not identify Qi certification, compatibility is not established by Apple’s documentation.
Decide whether you want a single-purpose pad or an existing charger
A flat Qi pad is the simplest category for an AirPods case because Apple describes placement on a charging mat. An Apple Watch charger is a practical alternative when you already own one that is listed as compatible. The choice is about the charger category and your setup, not a published difference in AirPods charging performance.
Prioritize a stable, centered placement area
Apple’s instructions require the case to be centered and flat. Select a charger whose usable surface makes that position easy to maintain. Do not buy on the assumption that a magnetic ring will hold the case in place; Apple does not make that claim for AirPods 5.

Treat price, speed and extra-device claims separately
The available Apple specifications do not state charger prices, wireless power levels, charge-to-full times, or comparative performance between third-party products. Those details may vary by seller, region and model. They should be verified for the exact charger rather than inferred from the AirPods battery figures.
Battery figures: useful context, not charging-speed tests
Apple lists the following battery-use claims for AirPods 5 with the Wireless Charging Case:
| Claim | Condition Apple specifies | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 hours on one charge | Active Noise Cancellation enabled | Earbud listening endurance under Apple’s stated condition |
| Up to 7 hours on one charge | Noise control off | Earbud listening endurance with noise control disabled |
| Up to 22 hours with the case | Active Noise Cancellation enabled | Total listening endurance including the charging case under Apple’s stated condition |
| Around 1 hour from 5 minutes in the case | Apple’s quick-charge claim | A battery-use estimate, not a wireless-pad wattage or time-to-full test |
These are Apple battery-use estimates published in 2026. They describe how long the earbuds may operate under the stated conditions; they do not measure how quickly a particular Qi pad replenishes the case. Neither Apple’s technical specification nor its support page supplies a wireless wattage or a comparative wireless charge-time benchmark.
A practical buying decision
| Your situation | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You own A3530 and want a general wireless setup | Qi-certified wireless charging pad | Apple explicitly lists Qi-certified chargers for the Wireless Charging Case. |
| You own A3530 and already use an Apple Watch charger | That Apple Watch charger | Apple lists an Apple Watch charger as compatible; center the case flat with the status light up and lid closed. |
| You own A3529 | USB-C cable | Wireless charging is not listed for the standard case, while USB-C is. |
| You want one method that works with either case | USB-C | Apple lists USB-C charging for both case variants. |
| You are considering a MagSafe charger because it is magnetic | Use it only according to Apple’s mat-placement guidance and do not expect magnetic attachment | Apple gives placement guidance for a MagSafe charger but does not state that the AirPods case magnetically aligns. |
Troubleshooting: when the case does not charge wirelessly
The case is A3529
This is the most important diagnosis. Apple does not list wireless charging for the A3529 USB-C Charging Case. Move to USB-C rather than changing pads or repositioning the case.
The case is A3530 but the charger is not identified as Qi-certified
Apple’s compatibility statement names Qi-certified chargers. If the charger’s certification is unclear, compatibility has not been established. Use a charger whose documentation explicitly identifies Qi certification or use USB-C.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The case is on the wrong surface or orientation
Reposition it with the lid closed, the status light facing up, and the case centered and flat. These are Apple’s published placement requirements for a Qi-certified mat, a MagSafe charger and an Apple Watch charger.
You expected a magnetic connection
Do not use the absence of magnetic attachment as evidence that the charger is defective. Apple does not say that the AirPods 5 case magnetically aligns with MagSafe. Center the case manually as instructed.
You are judging the setup by an advertised speed
No wireless power level or comparative charge-time figure is provided in Apple’s listed specifications. Avoid treating a seller’s speed claim as an AirPods 5 standard unless it supplies measurements for the exact charger and conditions.
A replacement case does not match the earbuds
Check the case and earbud variant together. Apple states that the standard and wireless cases are compatible with their respective AirPods 5 variants and not with one another. A mismatch is a compatibility problem, not a reason to buy a more powerful charging pad.
What “best” can responsibly mean here
There is no evidence-supported ranking of individual wireless charger models for AirPods 5. The available manufacturer documentation establishes compatible charger categories and correct placement, but it does not establish third-party model certification, price, charging wattage, charge-to-full time or comparative test performance.
That makes the defensible recommendation category-level: choose a Qi-certified pad for an A3530 Wireless Charging Case, or use a compatible Apple Watch charger if that fits your existing setup. If your case is A3529, the correct answer is not a different wireless pad; it is USB-C.
Quick Recap
Before you buy: a final checklist
- Confirm the case model: A3529 is the standard USB-C case; A3530 is the Wireless Charging Case.
- Buy a wireless charger only for A3530.
- For a pad, verify an explicit Qi-certification claim.
- For an Apple Watch charger, follow Apple’s centered, flat placement instructions.
- Keep the lid closed and the status light facing up while charging wirelessly.
- Do not assume MagSafe-style magnetic attachment.
- Use USB-C when you have A3529 or want a cable option.
- Match replacement cases to the corresponding AirPods 5 earbud variant.
- Do not interpret Apple’s battery-life figures as a charger-speed test.
