Strong website examples are most useful when you study how each one serves its audience—not when you copy its visual style. This guide groups live sites across industries and points out visible choices in purpose, navigation, content, calls to action, trust cues, and interactive features. The examples include 2026 WebAward winners, which are judged entries rather than a ranking of every website in their industries.
How to use these website examples
Start with the task a visitor is likely to have: choosing a school, managing money, finding care, booking travel, or exploring a service. Then look at whether the site makes that task understandable and easy to pursue. The Web Marketing Association says its 2026 WebAwards entries were evaluated on design, copywriting, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, and use of technology. Kentico identifies design and user experience, content quality, technical excellence, and complexity or functionality as judging dimensions; the Webby Awards’ Best Practices category includes content, structure, navigation, visual design, interactivity, functionality, and overall experience.
The selections below are practical examples to inspect, not a universal “best” ranking. The 2026 WebAwards announcement names University of Portland as Best Education Website, Great Southern Bank – Community Matters as Best Bank Website, and Prague Airport as both Best Transportation Website and Best Travel Website. Award recognition is one useful signal, but it does not establish that a design improves conversion, traffic, or usability outcomes.

Education and universities
University of Portland — education
Visit the University of Portland. The Web Marketing Association named it Best Education Website in its 2026 WebAwards. Use the site to examine how an institution presents its identity and directs prospective students, current students, families, and other visitors toward relevant information. Pay attention to how the main navigation groups destinations, how prominent next steps are, and whether supporting content answers practical questions as well as communicating the university’s character.

Banking and financial services
Great Southern Bank – Community Matters — banking
Visit Great Southern Bank – Community Matters. The site was named Best Bank Website in the 2026 WebAwards. Its community-focused name and purpose make it a useful example for studying how a bank can present community-related content alongside its broader financial-services identity. Inspect how the page establishes its audience, structures stories or information, and makes its intended next action visible. Treat design and visible trust cues as things to assess, not proof of financial reliability.
Travel and transportation
Prague Airport — travel and transportation
Visit Prague Airport. The Web Marketing Association named Prague Airport both Best Transportation Website and Best Travel Website in 2026. The dual recognition illustrates how an organization can fit more than one industry category: the airport serves operational transportation needs while also helping travelers plan and navigate a trip. When browsing, consider whether essential visitor tasks are clear, how information is divided for different types of traveler, and how interactive tools support trip-related needs.
More industries to explore
The Web Marketing Association’s 2026 competition lists 86 industry categories, including education, financial services, healthcare, hotel and lodging, nonprofit, real estate, restaurant, retail, SaaS, travel, transportation, and university. Its category guidance allows overlap and says a site may be entered in more than one category where appropriate. A business that spans fields does not need to be forced into a single label.

For broader browsing, Colorlib reported 238 collections across 18 industries and more than 5,400 sites in its gallery on October 6, 2026. Those numbers describe Colorlib’s curated collection; they are not counts of all websites or independent measures of quality. Its gallery also connects examples with templates and WordPress themes, which can be useful if you are looking for a starting point after identifying patterns you like.
Rank #3
A practical checklist for comparing sites
- Audience and purpose: Can you tell who the organization serves and what visitors can do here?
- Navigation and structure: Are likely destinations easy to find, and does the organization of information match visitor tasks?
- Content: Is the information specific and useful for its intended audience?
- Design and experience: Do visual choices support the purpose without making the experience hard to understand?
- Functionality: Can visitors carry out a likely task, such as learning, finding a service, booking, or exploring a product?
- Trust cues: Are relevant credentials, contact details, policies, or other signals visible? Their presence is not proof of trustworthiness.
Turn inspiration into a site plan
Choose examples because they solve a problem similar to yours, not simply because they share your industry. Note the visitor task, the content needed to complete it, and the interaction that moves it forward. Then adapt the underlying structure to your audience, services, and constraints instead of copying another organization’s appearance. The WebAwards’ president, William Rice, described the 2026 entries as “truly remarkable” in the association’s winners announcement; that praise reflects the competition, not an independent finding about business results.
