For most video meetings, the Logitech Brio 500 is the most balanced webcam with a built-in microphone in this comparison. It combines 1080p video, three field-of-view settings, autofocus, a stereo microphone and USB-C. Choose the Logitech C920s Pro HD for a simpler 1080p/30fps setup with USB-A, the Logitech Brio 4K when 4K or 1080p/60fps matters, or the Logitech Brio 105 when you need a business-oriented 1080p webcam with a narrower 58° view. These are use-case picks based on Logitech’s published specifications—not independent microphone or image-quality test results.

What a webcam with a microphone does

A webcam with a microphone combines a camera and an audio input in one USB peripheral. After you connect it, a meeting, recording or streaming application can use the webcam for video and its built-in microphone for voice. This avoids buying and positioning a separate microphone, which is useful for laptops, hot desks, small offices and occasional calls.

All four candidates here include a built-in microphone, but they are not identical. The microphone layout ranges from a single omnidirectional capsule to stereo or dual omnidirectional microphones, and only two models publish a pickup-distance figure. A microphone claim such as “noise-reducing” is Logitech’s product description, not a laboratory comparison against the other models.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A built-in mic is most convenient when you move between rooms, share a desk or need a quick backup input. It is not automatically the right choice for a permanent streaming station, podcast or recording booth. A separate microphone can be positioned closer to your mouth and may offer controls that these webcams do not. The four models below are therefore best understood as integrated camera-and-mic solutions for calls, classes, remote support, casual streaming and simple recordings.

Model Video and framing Microphone and connection Best fit
Logitech Brio 500 1080p/30fps or 720p/60fps; 65°, 78° or 90° diagonal field of view; autofocus Built-in stereo microphone; USB-C; stated microphone range up to 1.22 m Meetings that benefit from adjustable framing and automatic light correction

Logitech Brio 4K 4K/30fps, 1080p/60fps and 720p/90fps modes; 65°, 78° or 90° diagonal field of view; autofocus Dual omnidirectional microphones; USB-A or USB-C connectivity is listed on the datasheet Higher-resolution calls, recording or streaming when the computer and app support the mode
Logitech Brio 105 1080p/30fps or 720p/30fps; fixed focus; 58° diagonal field of view Single omnidirectional microphone with a stated range up to 1 m; USB-A A business-oriented, close-up 1080p view with an integrated shutter

Resolution and frame rate are maximum supported modes. A meeting application may select a lower mode, and the available choice depends on the computer, USB connection and application.

Which webcam should you choose?

Choose the Brio 500 for flexible meeting framing

Logitech lists the Brio 500 with Full HD 1080p video at 30 frames per second and 720p at 60 frames per second. Its 4-megapixel sensor, autofocus and selectable 65°, 78° and 90° diagonal fields of view let you choose between a tighter head-and-shoulders composition and a wider view that includes another person or more of a workspace.

The built-in stereo microphone has a manufacturer-stated range of up to 1.22 m. Logitech also describes the microphones as noise-reducing. Treat that wording as a design claim rather than proof of superior speech intelligibility in a noisy room. RightLight 4 automatic light correction, auto-framing and Show Mode are listed features for the product.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Auto-framing requires Logitech’s Logi Tune software, and Logitech says that feature is unavailable on ChromeOS. Check the current regional software requirements before relying on it. The camera uses USB-C, so a computer with only USB-A ports may require a compatible adapter.

The three viewing angles make this model easier to share between a single-person desk and a small two-person conversation. At 65°, your face occupies more of the frame; at 90°, the camera can include more of a whiteboard or workspace but also exposes more background. Because the field of view is adjustable rather than fixed, you can change composition without moving the camera mount.

Choose the C920s Pro HD for a simple 1080p/30fps setup

The C920s Pro supports 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 30fps, with a fixed 78° diagonal field of view. That angle is a middle ground for one speaker and does not require software to change. Its Full HD glass lens and HD auto light correction are Logitech-described features.

Two built-in microphones handle voice capture, but Logitech’s product information does not state a pickup distance for them. The camera connects through USB-A, which suits desktops, docks and older laptops with that port. A physical privacy shutter is included, so you can cover the lens without relying on an application setting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is the least complicated choice when you want a conventional 1080p webcam and already have a USB-A port. The fixed framing is predictable for a desk that never moves, but it gives you fewer options if you change from a solo call to a shared workspace. There is no documented reason to assume its dual microphones outperform the other models; choose it for the straightforward specification set and port compatibility.

Choose the Brio 4K when resolution or frame rate is the priority

The Brio 4K supports several modes, including 4K/30fps, 1080p/60fps and 720p/90fps. It also provides autofocus and adjustable 65°, 78° and 90° diagonal fields of view. Those modes are useful for detailed recording, cropping a 4K image or smoother 1080p motion, but only if the computer and application expose the mode and the USB link can sustain it.

Its dual omnidirectional microphones and privacy shutter are documented by Logitech. The specification sheet lists USB-A or USB-C connectivity; package contents and included adapters can vary by region, so verify the exact SKU before ordering. The published material does not provide a microphone pickup-distance figure.

For streaming, the Brio 4K is relevant when your software accepts 4K or when you want to record locally and crop later. A platform may still deliver a 1080p or lower stream, so buying the camera alone does not guarantee a 4K broadcast. Likewise, 1080p/60fps can make motion look smoother, but it requires an application and connection that expose and sustain that mode.

Choose the Brio 105 for a narrower business view

The Brio 105 records at 1080p/30fps or 720p/30fps and uses fixed focus. Its 58° diagonal field of view is narrower than the other three cameras, which can keep a single speaker prominent when the camera is placed close to a monitor. It is less suitable when you want to show two people or a broad background.

Logitech specifies one built-in omnidirectional microphone with a range of up to 1 m. The connection is USB-A, and the privacy shutter is integrated. The fixed-focus design removes autofocus behavior but requires you to position the camera at a sensible distance.

The 58° view can be useful in a shared office where you want to minimize background distractions. It can also feel cramped if the camera is mounted very close to a large monitor or if a second person joins the frame. Because focus is fixed, test the intended mounting distance before permanently installing it.

How to compare the microphone specifications

Microphone count and pattern

“Stereo” describes the Brio 500’s built-in microphone arrangement. The C920s Pro has dual microphones, while the Brio 4K has dual omnidirectional microphones. The Brio 105 has one omnidirectional microphone. A count or pickup pattern does not by itself establish which camera sounds best; room reflections, keyboard noise, distance and the conferencing app’s processing also affect the result.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

One-click scans. No signup required.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Omnidirectional means the capsule is designed to collect sound around the microphone rather than only from one narrow direction. That can make a webcam practical for more than one speaker, but it can also collect room noise. Stereo and dual arrangements describe hardware configuration, not a guarantee that a meeting service will preserve stereo audio or that speech will be clearer.

Published pickup range

Only the Brio 500 and Brio 105 publish a distance: up to 1.22 m and up to 1 m respectively. These are manufacturer specifications, not guarantees that speech will remain equally clear throughout the distance. Logitech does not state a comparable range for the C920s Pro or Brio 4K in the cited product information.

Use those figures as planning limits, not as a substitute for a sound check. A hard room, open laptop fan or mechanical keyboard can matter more than an extra few centimeters of nominal range. If you routinely sit farther away than the stated distance, plan on a separate microphone or move the webcam closer.

Noise-reduction wording

Logitech describes the Brio 500 microphones as noise-reducing. That phrase should not be read as a measured noise-cancellation rating. If your room is loud, place the webcam close to you, reduce competing sound sources and use the application’s own noise-suppression controls when available.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not assume that a webcam microphone will remove every fan, conversation or keyboard sound. Noise suppression can also alter voices, and each calling application implements it differently. A short test recording in the actual room is more useful than relying on a product adjective.

Resolution, frame rate and field of view

Resolution is not the whole picture

1080p is enough for many calls, but a higher number does not automatically produce a better meeting. Lighting, lens quality, focus and the service’s imposed resolution limit can matter more. The Brio 4K’s 4K mode is most useful when the application supports it or when you record locally and need room to crop. The Brio 500’s 720p/60fps option and the Brio 4K’s 1080p/60fps and 720p/90fps options favor smoother motion, not necessarily more detail.

Frame rate describes how many frames the camera can provide each second; it does not describe microphone quality. A 30fps mode is generally the conservative starting point for meetings because it is supported by all four candidates at 1080p or below. Higher rates can be useful for demonstrations, movement or local recording, but they increase processing and bandwidth demands.

Match the field of view to the room

A 65° view is relatively tight, 78° is a moderate single-person composition, and 90° shows more of the surroundings. The Brio 500 and Brio 4K let you select among all three. The C920s Pro stays at 78°, and the Brio 105 stays at 58°. A wider angle can include another participant but also reveals more of a cluttered room and makes your face appear smaller.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Field-of-view numbers are diagonal measurements, so do not compare them with horizontal-angle claims from another brand as if they were identical. Mount height and distance also change the perceived composition. When a fixed-angle camera looks too wide, moving it closer may enlarge your face but can make fixed-focus operation less forgiving.

Which model fits meetings, streaming and recording?

For routine one-person meetings, the Brio 500 and C920s Pro are the clearest starting points. The Brio 500 adds adjustable framing, autofocus, a published 1.22 m microphone range and listed automatic light correction. The C920s Pro keeps the setup simpler with a fixed 78° view, USB-A and a physical shutter.

For recording tutorials, product demonstrations or streams where cropping flexibility matters, the Brio 4K offers the highest listed resolution and the broadest frame-rate choices. Confirm the recording software, computer and USB connection first. For a business desk where a close, predictable composition is desirable, the Brio 105’s 58° view and integrated shutter may be a better fit than a wider camera.

None of these specifications proves that one model has the best measured voice quality. If speech quality is the central requirement, compare a webcam microphone with a dedicated USB microphone or headset in your actual room rather than choosing solely by microphone count.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Connection, operating system and application checks

Check the physical port before buying. The Brio 500 and Brio 105 list USB-C and USB-A respectively. The C920s Pro lists USB-A. The Brio 4K datasheet lists USB-A or USB-C, but regional packages and adapters may differ.

USB bandwidth, the computer’s processing capability and the calling application determine which resolution and frame-rate options appear. A camera that supports 4K on its specification sheet may still run at 1080p in a browser meeting. Select the webcam as both the camera and microphone inside the application rather than assuming the operating system will make the choice for you.

Logitech’s setup guidance covers USB-port and operating-system considerations for several models. Compatibility can change with operating-system and application updates, so check the current support information for your computer and the exact regional model.

Hubs and docking stations add another possible failure point. If video is unstable or a camera disappears, connect it directly to the computer as a diagnostic step. An adapter must carry data; a charging-only adapter cannot provide a camera or microphone signal. Also verify that the cable supplied with the regional package matches the connector shown on the listing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step-by-step setup for a webcam microphone

  1. Confirm the port and cable. Match the camera’s USB connector to an available port. If you need an adapter, use one that supports data, not charging only.
  2. Place the camera. Put it at eye level, center the lens and keep your face within the selected field of view. With the fixed-focus Brio 105, stay within a practical speaking distance rather than moving far back.
  3. Connect before opening the call app. Plug in the webcam and wait for the operating system to recognize both the camera and its microphone.
  4. Select the devices in the application. Open the meeting or recording app’s audio and video settings, choose the Logitech camera for video and its corresponding built-in microphone for input, then use the app’s preview or test call.
  5. Set the desired mode. If the app offers camera resolution, choose a mode supported by both the app and your computer. Start with 1080p/30fps for stability; move to 4K or higher frame rates only when the application and connection handle them reliably.
  6. Adjust framing and light. Select the Brio 500 or Brio 4K field of view, or move the camera if it is fixed. Face a light source rather than placing a bright window behind you. On the Brio 500, install and configure Logi Tune only if you need its auto-framing controls and your operating system supports them.
  7. Check microphone permissions. In your operating system’s privacy settings, allow the meeting or recording application to access the microphone. A blocked permission can make a correctly connected webcam appear silent.
  8. Use the shutter when finished. Close the physical or integrated privacy shutter on models that include one when you want a mechanical barrier to the lens.

Buying checklist

  • Use case: Pick a meeting-focused model, a higher-resolution camera or a narrow single-person view before comparing headline specifications.
  • Video mode: Confirm the resolution and frame rate your preferred application actually supports.
  • Framing: Choose an adjustable 65°/78°/90° model for changing spaces, or a fixed angle when you want predictable composition.
  • Microphone design: Compare stereo, dual or single microphones and note whether a pickup range is published.
  • Port: Verify USB-C versus USB-A and whether an adapter is required.
  • Focus: Autofocus helps when you move; fixed focus can be predictable when the camera stays in one position.
  • Privacy: Confirm that the exact model and regional SKU include the shutter you expect.
  • Software: Treat features such as auto-framing as conditional on companion software, operating system and application support.
  • Price and availability: These change by region and date. Check the current listing, model generation, included cable and warranty before purchase.
  • Return policy: A return window is useful if the webcam’s angle, focus behavior or microphone pickup does not suit your room.

Common problems and fixes

The meeting app shows video but no microphone

Open the app’s audio settings and select the webcam’s microphone explicitly. Then check the operating system’s microphone permission and input level. If another USB headset or dock is connected, temporarily select the webcam manually so the app does not keep the previous input device.

The camera runs below its advertised resolution

Check the application’s camera settings, then try a direct USB connection instead of an underpowered hub. The service may cap resolution for your account, browser or call mode. The advertised maximum is not a promise that every application will offer that mode.

  • Full HD 1080p video calling and recording at 30 fps. You'll make a strong impression with this PC webcam that features crisp, clearly detailed, and vibrantly colored video

The image is too wide or too tight

On the Brio 500 or Brio 4K, change the diagonal field-of-view setting. On the C920s Pro or Brio 105, reposition the camera because the field of view is fixed. Move the camera farther away for a wider composition only when focus and microphone distance remain practical.

Auto-framing is unavailable

Logitech documents Logi Tune as required for Brio 500 auto-framing and says the feature is unavailable on ChromeOS. Check that the software is installed, the camera is recognized and your operating system is supported. Without auto-framing, center the camera manually.

Voice sounds distant or noisy

Move closer to the webcam, reduce fan and keyboard noise, and avoid placing the camera beside a reflective hard surface. Use the calling app’s noise-suppression control if it provides one. Published microphone type or range cannot predict the acoustics of your room.

The webcam is not detected

Unplug and reconnect it directly to the computer, try another data-capable port and close applications that may already be using the camera. Check the connector, adapter and cable, then confirm that the operating system lists both a camera and an audio input. If only one appears, the issue may be the port, cable, permission or regional package rather than the meeting application.

The picture is dark or backlit

Turn your face toward a lamp or window instead of placing the brightest light behind you. The Brio 500 and C920s Pro list automatic light-correction features, but no automatic system can replace sensible room lighting. A small change in camera position often improves the image without changing software settings.

Privacy and physical controls

The C920s Pro, Brio 500, Brio 4K and Brio 105 are documented with a privacy shutter or integrated shutter. Close it when the camera is not in use if you want a mechanical barrier rather than relying only on software permissions. Confirm the exact regional SKU, because package contents and naming can vary between listings.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A shutter covers the lens but does not necessarily mute the microphone. If you need privacy from audio capture, select another input or mute the microphone in the operating system or application. For sensitive meetings, verify both camera and microphone indicators before joining.

Price, availability and model checks

Prices, stock, included adapters and warranty terms vary by region and change over time. Compare the current listing rather than relying on an old comparison table. Confirm whether the product is the current generation, whether the cable matches your computer and whether the seller identifies the same model number as Logitech’s specification page.

Logitech’s home-office comparison includes other models such as the Brio 100, Brio 300, C922 and StreamCam. They may be relevant alternatives, but their current specifications, software support and regional pricing should be checked separately before you add one to a shortlist. Do not infer a microphone range, field of view or port from a similarly named model.

What the available evidence can—and cannot—tell you

Logitech’s product pages and specification sheets establish the listed modes, microphone arrangements, fields of view, focus systems, ports and privacy features. They do not provide independent, side-by-side measurements of speech clarity, background-noise rejection or image quality. The picks above therefore match documented capabilities to common needs rather than declaring a universal winner.

Manufacturer wording such as “noise-reducing,” “automatic light correction” or “Full HD” describes product design and supported features. It should not be presented as a measured ranking. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best webcam with a built-in microphone for video calls?

The Logitech Brio 500 is the balanced meeting pick here because Logitech lists 1080p/30fps video, autofocus, three diagonal field-of-view settings, a built-in stereo microphone and USB-C. That recommendation matches its documented feature combination, not an independent audio test.

Which webcam has the widest field of view?

The Brio 500 and Brio 4K both offer selectable 65°, 78° and 90° diagonal views. The C920s Pro is fixed at 78°, while the Brio 105 is fixed at 58°.

Is a 4K webcam necessary for Zoom or other meetings?

Not usually. The Brio 4K supports 4K/30fps, but the meeting application, browser, computer and USB connection may limit the active mode. A 1080p webcam is often sufficient for calls; 4K is more useful when the software supports it or when recording locally for later cropping.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which models use USB-C?

Logitech lists the Brio 500 as USB-C. The Brio 4K datasheet lists USB-A or USB-C connectivity, with regional package details to verify. The C920s Pro and Brio 105 list USB-A.

Do these webcam microphones cancel background noise?

The Brio 500 is described by Logitech as having noise-reducing microphones. That is a manufacturer feature description, not a measured noise-cancellation result. The other listed pages do not provide comparable independent noise tests.

Which webcam is best for streaming?

The Brio 4K is the relevant choice when your streaming or recording software supports 4K/30fps or 1080p/60fps and your computer and USB link can sustain it. For a simpler 1080p setup, the C920s Pro or Brio 500 may be adequate. A dedicated microphone can still be preferable for serious streaming.

Can I use the webcam microphone with the lens shutter closed?

Yes, a physical shutter covers the lens, not necessarily the microphone. If you want audio privacy too, mute the webcam microphone or choose another input in the operating system or application.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why does my webcam microphone not work in a call?

Select the webcam’s microphone explicitly in the application, check operating-system microphone permissions and confirm that another headset or dock has not become the active input. A direct USB connection can also help isolate hub or adapter problems.

Does Brio 500 auto-framing work on ChromeOS?

Is the Brio 105 suitable for two people?

Its fixed 58° diagonal field of view is relatively narrow and is intended to keep one nearby speaker prominent. It is less suitable for two people or a wide background than the adjustable 65°/78°/90° Brio models.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Choose the Brio 500 for the most flexible meeting setup, the C920s Pro for uncomplicated USB-A 1080p calls, the Brio 4K for supported high-resolution recording or streaming, and the Brio 105 for a narrow, business-oriented single-person view. Check the application’s actual video limits, your computer’s USB port, microphone permissions and the current regional product listing before buying.
