The most reliable Burlington savings strategy is to combine the official Deals and Clearance pages with early store visits, repeat trips, careful item-by-item comparisons and legitimate Burlington payment perks. Burlington says it offers merchandise for up to 60% less than other retailers’ prices, but clearance depth, sizes, colors, prices and timing vary by store.
There is no published chain-wide weekly markdown calendar. Burlington’s own guidance is that “New markdowns are always being taken” and that shoppers should “Shop early in stores for the best values and selections.” Use those statements as your timing rule: shop early when you need a particular size or category, then return while the season is still relevant for possible additional reductions.
What a Burlington deal actually means
Burlington is an off-price retailer rather than a conventional department store with a predictable promotional cycle. Its 2026 Form 10-K describes branded merchandise offered at up to 60% off other retailers’ prices across apparel, footwear, beauty, home, toys, gifts and coats. “Up to 60%” is a maximum advertised comparison, not a promise that every product or every clearance ticket reaches that reduction.

The company buys in-season and opportunistically. Its 2025 Form 10-K says it can shift purchases among suppliers and categories as marketplace conditions change. That buying model explains why one store may have an unusual shipment of a brand or size while another location does not, and why the assortment can change between visits.

Burlington reported $11.5 billion in fiscal 2025 net sales and 1,212 stores in 46 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico as of January 31, 2026. Those figures provide context for the scale of the chain, not a guarantee that a particular item is stocked near you.
1. Begin with Burlington’s official Deals and Clearance pages
Check the site before traveling
Open Burlington’s official Deals and Clearance areas before leaving home. Use the store selector to identify nearby locations and to understand which stores are relevant to your search. Treat any products displayed online as representative rather than as a reservation or complete inventory list.
Burlington warns that styles, selections, availability and prices may vary by store, and that supplies are limited. A product shown on a deal page may be sold out, available in another color, or ticketed differently at the location you visit. The online check is therefore a planning tool, not proof that an item is waiting at the register.
Record the details that matter
Before you go, note the department, brand, product type, size range and color you want. If the site presents several nearby stores, list more than one location when the trip is practical. This turns a general browsing session into a targeted search while preserving the flexibility Burlington’s changing inventory requires.
2. Use timing to balance price and selection
Shop early for scarce sizes and seasonal needs
Burlington explicitly advises customers to “Shop early in stores for the best values and selections.” Go early in the season when you need a specific coat size, children’s clothing size, shoe size or home item. Early shopping generally gives you more colors, complete size runs and intact sets before other shoppers buy them.
Return for later markdowns
The same official deals page says, “New markdowns are always being taken.” Markdown activity is ongoing rather than tied to a publicly guaranteed day of the week. A later visit can uncover a lower ticket on merchandise that remains, but waiting can also mean the size, color or item disappears.

Use a two-pass plan for non-urgent purchases: make an initial visit when the relevant season begins, then revisit while the item is still useful. For a needed item, buy when the value and fit are acceptable instead of waiting for an uncertain additional reduction.
Why a fixed markdown calendar is a bad assumption
The reviewed Burlington pages do not publish a guaranteed weekly or monthly markdown schedule. Store-level inventory, shipment timing and category demand can differ, so an employee anecdote or social-media post may describe one location without predicting the chain. Plan around continuing markdowns and limited supply, not a rumored company-wide date.
3. Search the clearance area, then scan the whole store
Start with marked clearance fixtures
On arrival, locate the clearance racks, tables and endcaps in the department you need. Check every rack section rather than stopping at the first sign: tickets can be mixed by size or style after customers browse, and a clearance fixture may be positioned away from the department’s main display.
Compare related departments
Do not limit the search to one aisle. Burlington carries women’s, men’s, youth and baby apparel; footwear; accessories; beauty; home; toys; gifts and coats. A category-specific need may have alternatives elsewhere—for example, accessories near apparel, seasonal storage in home, or children’s gift items in toys and gifts.
Because Burlington buys opportunistically and can shift purchases between categories, the best find may appear in a neighboring department rather than in a predictable promotional section. Scan endcaps and newly set fixtures during each visit.

Inspect multiple sizes, colors and units
Pull several units of the same product when possible. One size or color may be marked down while another remains at a different price, and one package may be missing a component or show more handling. Compare the ticket and condition on the exact unit you intend to purchase.

4. Verify the exact value before checkout
Compare like for like
Use the same brand, model or garment style, size, color and included components when comparing two prices. A lower ticket on a different size or variant is not evidence that your preferred unit should receive the same markdown.
Burlington’s comparable-value percentages are based on initial assortment offerings and estimated by its buyers. The company also cautions that prices, selection and availability vary by store. Treat a “compared to” figure as Burlington’s stated estimate for that assortment, not as a universal current price at every competing retailer.
Check condition and completeness
Before paying, inspect seams, zippers, soles, buttons, packaging, labels and included accessories. For toys, beauty products, home goods and gifts, check seals, expiration information where applicable, instructions and all advertised pieces. Clearance status does not remove the need to verify that the item is complete and suitable for use.

If a shelf location, sticker or ticket looks inconsistent, ask an associate to verify the price before checkout. Keep your receipt and review it before leaving, especially when combining a clearance ticket with a payment promotion. The receipt is the practical record of what was charged and which offer, if any, applied.
5. Add Burlington’s official savings options carefully
Burlington Credit Card introductory offer
Burlington advertises 10% off a first purchase when a shopper opens and uses the Burlington Credit Card. The discount is tied to opening and using the account, so read the current application terms and exclusions before relying on it for a planned purchase.
Rewards on card purchases
The same consumer page advertises 5% back in Rewards on every Burlington Credit Card purchase. Confirm the current program rules, redemption conditions, eligible transactions and account terms before treating the percentage as an immediate price reduction. Rewards are not the same as a markdown at the rack.

Opening a retail card is a financial decision. Check the current interest rate, fees, payment requirements and potential credit impact, and apply only if the account fits your budget. A 10% introductory discount can be outweighed by interest or fees if a balance is carried under unfavorable terms.
Loyalty membership
A companion Burlington page invites shoppers to join its loyalty program for special perks and offers. Enrollment may be useful for shoppers who visit regularly, but review the current sign-up, communication and redemption terms so you know which offers apply to your purchases.
Gift cards
Burlington confirms that it offers both eGift cards and plastic gift cards. - Write down the department, sizes, colors, brands and acceptable substitutes for the item you need.
- Decide whether the purchase is urgent. If it is, prioritize selection; if it is flexible, schedule a possible second visit.
- Review any current card, Rewards, loyalty or gift-card terms before counting those benefits in your budget.
Inside the store
- Go first to marked clearance fixtures and endcaps in the target department.
- Scan neighboring departments that carry related products.
- Check several sizes, colors and units of the same item.
- Compare the exact ticket, condition, included components and comparable-value information.
- Ask an associate to clarify an inconsistent or unreadable price before checkout.
After the visit
- Review the receipt for the item price and any applied offer.
- If you passed on a flexible purchase, note the store, department and acceptable price for a later visit.
- Return while the season remains relevant if you are pursuing a possible further markdown.
How to decide whether to buy now or wait
Buy now when the item meets your fit, condition and budget requirements and at least one of these is true:
- You need a specific size, color or complete set.
- The product is seasonal and waiting could make it unusable when needed.
- Only one suitable unit remains.
- The current price already meets your target and a deeper markdown is uncertain.
Consider waiting when all of these conditions hold:
- The purchase is optional rather than time-sensitive.
- You can accept another size, color, brand or style.
- Several comparable units remain.
- You are willing to lose the item in exchange for a chance at a lower ticket.
This is a trade-off, not a prediction. Burlington’s public guidance establishes continuing markdown activity and limited supplies, but not the date or amount of a future reduction.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Waiting for a rumored markdown day
No guaranteed chain-wide markdown calendar is published in the reviewed official material. Use repeat visits instead of planning around an unverified weekday.
Assuming every store has the same price
Burlington says prices, selection and availability may vary by store. Use the store selector for planning, but verify the ticket on the unit at your chosen location.
Interpreting “up to 60% off” as a universal discount
The up-to-60% figure is Burlington’s broad value proposition against other retailers’ prices. It does not establish a 60% reduction for every item, department or clearance ticket.
Comparing different variants
Different sizes, colors, packages or conditions can carry different tickets. Compare the exact unit and inspect its contents.
Counting card rewards as free money
The 10% first-purchase discount and 5% Rewards offer are subject to account terms. Review the financial cost of the account and pay according to its requirements.
Assuming online listings are store inventory
Online deal pages help narrow the search, but Burlington warns that supplies are limited and store-level availability changes. Call or visit the location if a trip depends on a particular item, and be prepared for it to be gone.
What the evidence supports about Burlington markdown timing
The strongest defensible conclusion is that markdowns are ongoing, inventory is limited and store conditions differ. Burlington’s official wording supports shopping early for selection and revisiting for new reductions. It does not support promising a particular markdown percentage, a universal clearance day or identical prices across all 1,212 stores.
