For most PCs, the best starting point is the Auto preset at your monitor’s native resolution. Play a real match, not just the settings preview. If frame pacing is uneven, switch to Low; if the game remains smooth, test Middle and then High one step at a time. Lower resolution only when the graphics processor is the bottleneck, because excessive reduction makes distant robots, beacons and weapon effects harder to read.

The practical answer: stable frames first, detail second

War Robots is an online third-person 6v6 PvP shooter. A high-looking screenshot is not useful if the image stutters when several robots fire at once. Tune for consistent frame times during a full team fight, then preserve as much resolution and silhouette clarity as your PC can sustain.

The PC version provides four graphics presets—Auto, Low, Middle and High. The developer announced those presets on 27 December 2018 and warned that the remastered version had higher system requirements. The labels are useful starting points, not a promise of a particular frame rate. Your resolution, graphics hardware, processor load, background applications and the number of effects on screen all influence the result.

  1. Open War Robots’ graphics or video settings and select Auto.
  2. Enter a normal match and watch for uneven motion when multiple players, projectiles and explosions appear.
  3. Choose Low if motion remains inconsistent. If the match is stable, try Middle, then High, testing each preset in a real match.
  4. Change one setting or preset at a time so you know which change helped.
  5. Keep the highest resolution at which distant targets and beacons remain easy to identify.

There is no current first-party table showing exact War Robots FPS gains for each preset or individual option. Treat the workflow as a controlled way to find your own stable setting rather than as a guaranteed benchmark.

Check whether your PC is within the official requirements

The current Steam listing gives the following baseline. These figures describe whether the game should run, not a guaranteed 60 FPS result.

Specification Minimum listed by Steam Recommended listed by Steam
Operating system Windows 10 Windows 10
Processor 2.5 GHz 3.2 GHz
Memory 2 GB RAM 8 GB RAM
Graphics DirectX 11 GPU with 2 GB VRAM NVIDIA GTX 960
Storage 4 GB 8 GB
Internet Online connection required Broadband internet

The minimum 2 GB of RAM and 2 GB of graphics memory leave little headroom for Windows and background software. A computer that technically meets those numbers may still need Low settings and careful background-app management. The recommended GTX 960 is a useful reference when comparing a possible graphics-card upgrade, but compatibility with your power supply, case and motherboard must be checked before buying any card.

Settings workflow by PC type

Near-minimum systems and integrated graphics

Select Auto first, then Low if motion is not consistent. Integrated graphics share system memory and generally have less rendering headroom than a discrete card. Steam Support specifically recommends low shader detail and windowed mode for proper function on integrated-graphics systems. Those choices can make the image less polished, but they are preferable to severe hitching or a game that fails to render correctly.

Keep the display at its native resolution while checking readability. If the GPU is clearly overloaded, reduce resolution modestly rather than jumping immediately to the lowest option. After each change, inspect distant beacons and robot outlines; a small resolution reduction that preserves legibility is usually more useful than an extreme reduction that turns silhouettes into blurred shapes.

  • Close browser windows, video playback, screen-recording tools and other GPU-heavy applications before launching a match.
  • Use Low when frame pacing remains poor on Auto.
  • Use low shader detail and windowed mode when an integrated GPU has rendering or startup problems.
  • Do not change graphics settings and network settings simultaneously; identify whether the symptom is visual stutter or connection instability first.

Systems around the recommended Steam baseline

A PC close to the listed 3.2 GHz processor, 8 GB RAM and GTX 960 recommendation is a sensible candidate for Auto or Middle. Test High only after a real match remains smooth at your chosen resolution. Keep enough image detail to distinguish a robot at distance from the background; lower effects or overall quality before sacrificing the resolution that makes silhouettes and beacons readable.

The GTX 960 is an official reference point, not a modern performance guarantee. Driver condition, processor speed, cooling and the rest of the system can produce different results even with the same model. If an upgrade is necessary, use GTX 960 as a search phrase for compatibility research and compare newer, compatible cards rather than assuming any particular card will deliver a fixed FPS.

Higher-end systems

Start with High at the monitor’s native resolution. If frame-time spikes occur during team fights, lower only the options that create the spikes instead of reducing every setting. A higher-end PC can often retain sharp resolution while trimming effects, but the correct choice is the one that keeps motion consistent when the battlefield is busiest.

Do not set a numerical FPS target based solely on the hardware table. The published requirements do not include a current War Robots benchmark, and no first-party source in the available material reports per-setting averages, one-percent lows or a visibility score.

Resolution: the largest immediate lever

Steam Support states that increasing resolution or other video options beyond recommended settings has an immediate negative effect on FPS. Manually lowering video options can increase FPS. Resolution affects both the number of pixels the GPU must render and how clearly you can read the scene, so adjust it deliberately.

  1. Begin at the monitor’s native resolution.
  2. Play a match and identify whether GPU load or frame-time spikes are the problem.
  3. If the GPU is saturated and quality reductions are not enough, lower resolution one step.
  4. Check distant robots, beacon markers and weapon effects from normal combat distance.
  5. Stop lowering resolution as soon as those elements become difficult to distinguish.

Lower resolution is not a cure for every kind of lag. It can improve rendered FPS when the GPU is limiting performance, but it cannot repair packet loss, high latency or a slow server response.

Protect visibility while reducing load

Visibility is a gameplay requirement, not merely an image-quality preference. Distant targets, beacon ownership and incoming weapon effects must remain legible during movement. Use this priority order:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Preserve readable resolution. Keep native resolution when possible; make a modest reduction only after confirming that the GPU is the limit.
  2. Reduce quality or effects before text and silhouettes become soft. If the game exposes separate effect, shader or overall-quality controls, lower the control that causes the spike rather than cutting every option.
  3. Use Auto or Low on constrained hardware. These presets are safer starting points than manually selecting a mixture of demanding options.
  4. Check a live battle. Menu previews do not reproduce the number of robots, projectiles and explosions seen in a 6v6 match.

There is no published visibility score for War Robots settings. Evaluate visibility yourself at the distances and maps where you normally fight, and keep notes so that a later change can be reversed.

How to tell FPS stutter from internet lag

A stable internet connection is required for the best experience, but connection quality and rendered FPS are separate troubleshooting tracks. Changing resolution cannot fix a network problem, and changing your router cannot make an overloaded GPU render more frames.

What you notice More likely cause First action
The whole picture judders, especially when effects fill the screen Rendering load or inconsistent frame times Switch to Auto or Low, close GPU-heavy applications and test again in a match
Movement appears smooth but robots teleport, shots arrive late or actions register after a delay Connection quality or server communication Check the connection, avoid congested Wi-Fi activity and retest without changing graphics settings
Both visual judder and delayed actions occur More than one bottleneck Test graphics at Low first, then investigate the connection separately
The game fails to render correctly on an integrated GPU Graphics compatibility or shader load Use low shader detail and windowed mode as Steam Support advises

For a clean diagnosis, change one variable at a time. A graphics change should be judged by camera and animation smoothness; a network change should be judged by delay, teleporting and missed or late actions.

A repeatable testing method

You do not need a benchmark table to make a reliable decision. Use the same test conditions each time:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Write down the current preset, resolution and display mode.
  2. Close unnecessary applications and launch the same game mode.
  3. Play long enough to encounter a busy fight, not just the opening seconds.
  4. Observe camera movement, aiming, robot animation, explosions and beacon updates.
  5. Record whether the problem is constant, appears only in team fights or is accompanied by network symptoms.
  6. Change one setting, repeat the same type of match and compare frame-time consistency and target readability.

Average FPS is only one evaluation axis. Also consider frame-time consistency during team fights, clarity at the chosen resolution, visibility of distant targets and beacons, remaining GPU and CPU headroom, and whether the connection stays stable. The available sources provide no numeric War Robots results for those axes, so your observations should guide the final profile.

When hardware changes make sense

Graphics card

Try settings changes before purchasing hardware. If Low at a readable resolution still produces severe rendering stutter and the GPU is the limiting component, compare a compatible graphics card against the Steam recommended GTX 960 reference. Verify physical dimensions, power connectors, power-supply capacity, driver support and the interface available in your PC. A card upgrade can remove a rendering bottleneck, but it cannot correct an unstable internet connection or a processor that is limiting frame delivery.

Memory and processor

The gap between the listed 2 GB minimum and 8 GB recommended RAM is substantial. Systems near the minimum can spend available memory on Windows and background tasks before the game has enough headroom. Closing applications is the immediate no-cost step; moving toward the recommended 8 GB level may reduce operating-system pressure, but the result depends on the rest of the PC.

The listed processor figures are clock-speed requirements, not a guarantee that any 2.5 GHz or 3.2 GHz chip performs identically. A processor can limit frame delivery even when the GPU is underused, particularly during busy scenes. Check which component is saturated before choosing an upgrade.

Monitor

A 1080p high-refresh-rate monitor can display a stable high frame rate more clearly, but it does not create additional rendered FPS. The game and PC must render the frames first. Choose a monitor only after your settings produce consistent output at the refresh rate you intend to use.

Common mistakes and their fixes

  • Choosing High because the menu looks better: Test it in a crowded match; return to Middle or Auto if frame pacing breaks down.
  • Dropping resolution too far: Raise it until distant robots and beacons are readable, then reduce effects or preset quality instead.
  • Expecting a monitor to solve low FPS: Improve the PC’s rendered output first.
  • Blaming graphics settings for teleporting robots: Investigate connection quality separately from rendering.
  • Changing many controls at once: Revert and test one preset or option per match so the cause is identifiable.
  • Assuming minimum specifications equal 60 FPS: The Steam requirements establish a baseline for running the game, not a measured frame-rate promise.

Can your PC run War Robots at 60 FPS?

The published requirements cannot answer that with certainty. They specify minimum and recommended components but do not state a 60 FPS target, test resolution, graphics preset, map, match load or frame-time threshold. A PC at or above the recommended baseline is a reasonable candidate to test, while a near-minimum system should prioritize Auto or Low and stable rendering. Confirm your result in a real match, especially during team fights, rather than relying on the menu or on hardware labels alone.

Recommended starting profiles

PC situation Preset to try first Resolution approach Visibility priority
Near minimum or integrated graphics Auto, then Low if needed Keep native resolution if readable; reduce modestly only for a confirmed GPU limit Low shader detail and windowed mode when required for proper function
Close to Steam recommended baseline Auto or Middle; test High in a match Keep enough resolution for distant silhouettes and beacons Lower effects or quality before making targets too soft
Higher-end PC High Use native resolution first Lower only the options that produce frame-time spikes

These profiles are starting points, not measured performance guarantees. Keep the profile that remains smooth and readable in the fights you actually play.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a 60 Hz or 144 Hz monitor increase War Robots FPS?

No. A monitor can display a stable frame rate more clearly, but it cannot make the PC render additional frames. The game and hardware must produce those frames first.

Should I lower resolution before changing the preset?

Usually keep native resolution for readable targets and try Auto or Low first. Lower resolution modestly when testing confirms that the GPU, rather than the connection or processor, is the bottleneck.

Why does War Robots still feel laggy after I lower graphics quality?

If the picture is smooth but robots teleport or actions arrive late, the symptom points to connection quality rather than rendering. Diagnose those two issues separately.

Does meeting the Steam recommended requirements guarantee 60 FPS?

No. Steam lists hardware and storage guidance, not a 60 FPS benchmark with a specified resolution, preset or match condition.
