Existing Verizon customers can usually reduce their bill in three ways: enroll in Auto Pay and paper-free billing, add qualifying Verizon home internet to a mobile account, and verify one eligible status such as military, teacher, nurse, student or first responder. Auto Pay can provide up to $10 per line per month, Mobile + Home can reduce eligible home-internet charges by $15 per month (or $5 with Wi-Fi Backup), and published status offers include military savings of $25 for two or three phones or $20 for four or more phones on listed plans, plus 10% teacher and nurse discounts on up to 12 lines.
The exact result depends on your current plan, line count, home-service eligibility and the status program you select. Verizon applies status discounts at the account or mobile-service level, and its registration rules generally allow only one status category at a time.
Which Verizon discounts can existing customers get?
The available savings fall into two groups. Account-wide billing and service combinations are available to many customers without proving an occupation or affiliation. These are Auto Pay with paper-free billing and the Mobile + Home bundle. Status discounts require verification and are aimed at particular groups.

These figures are published program terms, not a promise that every line or plan will receive the maximum. Verizon directs customers to their account-specific plan summary or My Verizon to confirm the amount that will actually be applied.

Auto Pay and paper-free billing
For many existing customers, Auto Pay is the simplest first check because it does not depend on military, employment, school or professional credentials. Verizon’s current Unlimited-plan FAQ says eligible customers can receive up to $10 per line per month when they use Auto Pay and paper-free billing. “Up to” matters: the credit varies by plan, so two accounts with the same number of lines can receive different amounts.
What you need
- An eligible Verizon plan.
- Auto Pay enrolled with a bank account or a Verizon Visa Card.
- Paper-free billing enabled for the account.
Before changing payment settings, open the plan details in My Verizon and note the displayed Auto Pay amount. The published maximum is a per-line figure, but the account summary is the authoritative result for your plan.
How to evaluate the savings
Multiply the amount shown for one eligible line by the number of eligible lines, then check whether any line or plan exceptions reduce the total. For example, a three-line account that actually qualifies for the $10 maximum would receive $30 per month from this mechanism. That is an illustration of the published maximum, not a guarantee for every three-line account.

Mobile + Home discount
Mobile + Home is the second broad savings route. Customers with qualifying Verizon mobile and home internet service can receive $15 per month off eligible home internet. Verizon’s Mobile + Home FAQ lists a different credit of $5 per month when Wi-Fi Backup is included.
Eligibility questions to answer
- Are both your mobile and home services billed under qualifying Verizon accounts?
- Is your current home-internet plan eligible for Mobile + Home?
- Does your configuration include Wi-Fi Backup, which changes the published credit to $5?
The discount is attached to eligible home internet rather than being a per-line mobile credit. Verizon says other discounts may coexist, so check the combined result in your account instead of assuming that adding Mobile + Home removes an existing Auto Pay or status credit.
Why the account summary matters
Mobile and home eligibility can depend on the exact plans and account relationship. If the option does not appear, compare the mobile and home plan names shown in My Verizon and confirm that both services are associated with the qualifying account. Do not assume that any Verizon home-internet tier receives the $15 amount; the published offer is limited to eligible service.

Military and veteran discount
Verizon’s military program covers active-duty members, retirees, veterans, current or former Guard and Reserve members, Gold Star families and next of kin. On listed plans, the published account-level amounts are:
- $25 per account for accounts with two or three phones.
- $20 per account for accounts with four or more phones.
- 15% off account access charges on many other advertised plans.
The number of phones and the plan family determine which formula applies. The $25 and $20 figures are account credits, not amounts multiplied by every line.
Verification and timing
Use Verizon’s military-verification flow, select the existing-customer option, and complete the ID.me check. Verizon says the credit generally appears one to two billing cycles after verification. A charge on the first bill after approval does not necessarily mean the request failed; check the next cycle before opening a billing dispute.
What can and cannot combine
Verizon says the military discount cannot be combined with Deals at Work, Student or other Those Who Serve discounts, including teacher, nurse and first-responder status offers. It can coexist with Auto Pay and Mobile + Home when the account and plans qualify. If you move from a military offer to a teacher or student offer, treat that as a status-category change rather than an additional stackable credit.
Teacher discount
Currently employed teachers who meet Verizon’s verification rules can receive a 10% monthly discount on mobile service for up to 12 lines. This is a percentage-based mobile discount, so the dollar result changes with the eligible mobile charges on the account.
How an existing customer applies
- Open Verizon’s teacher offer and select the eligibility-check option.
- Complete the requested status verification through the Verizon flow; teacher verification is routed through ID.me.
- Choose the existing-customer path after your status is validated.
- Sign in to My Verizon and open Plans, then Applied Discounts, to see the savings attached to the account.
Verizon may recheck teacher status. Keep the credentials or employment information used for verification current so a later review does not remove the discount unexpectedly.

Nurse discount
Verizon’s nurse offer provides a 10% monthly mobile discount on up to 12 lines for eligible nursing professionals. The listed examples include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, licensed vocational nurses and nurse practitioners; Verizon’s eligibility list controls whether another nursing role qualifies.
Application steps
- Open the nurse offer and check eligibility.
- Submit the requested professional credentials through the verification process, which uses ID.me for this group.
- Select the existing-customer option after verification.
- In My Verizon, go to Plans and then Applied Discounts to confirm the discount and the lines receiving it.
Because the offer is tied to verified status and a line limit, check the applied-discount view after any account change that adds, removes or moves lines.
First responder, student and employee programs
These programs do not have one universal dollar figure in Verizon’s registration guidance. The result depends on the plan and the specific program. Eligible first responders and actively enrolled students generally verify through ID.me. Employee or affiliate offers use a work-email confirmation process for participating organizations.
One-time registration
Verizon’s registration guide states: You only need to register once to validate discount eligibility for your entire account.
After your status is accepted, choose Existing Customers rather than opening a new-service application. Registration validates the account; it does not create a second discount category that can be combined with military, teacher or nurse status.
What to check before submitting
- That your student enrollment, first-responder role or employer is one of the participating categories.
- That your ID.me profile or work-email confirmation uses current information.
- That the account and plan you want discounted are the ones selected during registration.
- That you are not already using another Those Who Serve, student or employee status discount.
How to add a status discount to an existing account
The labels differ slightly by program, but the process follows the same sequence.
- Identify the program. Decide whether military, teacher, nurse, first responder, student or employee status best matches your current eligibility. Verizon generally allows only one status type at a time.
- Start the verification flow. Use the program’s eligibility or registration page in Verizon’s account ecosystem. Military verification and several professional or student programs use ID.me; employee programs use a work-email confirmation.
- Complete identity or status proof. Provide the valid credential, enrollment evidence or employment confirmation requested by the verifier. A successful mobile login alone does not replace the status check.
- Select “Existing Customers.” Verizon’s guide specifically directs current subscribers to that choice after status verification.
- Submit the registration once. The guide says one registration validates discount eligibility for the entire account, so repeating the form is unlikely to create an extra credit.
- Check the account view. For teacher and nurse offers, use My Verizon’s Plans > Applied Discounts area. For other programs, review the plan summary and the next bill for the status credit.
- Allow the stated billing window. Military credits generally take one to two billing cycles. Other programs can require a billing-cycle update as well, so compare the applied-discount display with the invoice date.

Think of the offers as separate layers rather than assuming every credit combines:

- Auto Pay plus paper-free billing: available when the plan qualifies and the required payment method is used.
- Mobile + Home: Verizon says other discounts may coexist, subject to the account and plan rules.
- Status programs: choose one category. Verizon’s registration guidance does not allow simultaneous employee, military, student, teacher, nurse or first-responder status discounts.
The military FAQ gives the clearest example of the boundary: military cannot combine with Deals at Work, Student or other Those Who Serve offers, but it can coexist with Auto Pay and Mobile + Home. Before changing status categories, record the current applied discounts so you can tell which credit disappeared and which new one replaced it.

Choosing the best combination for your account
If you have no special status
Start with Auto Pay and paper-free billing, then check Mobile + Home if you also have qualifying home internet. These options do not require occupation or enrollment verification and are the most broadly available routes described by Verizon.
If you qualify for military savings
Compare the military account credit with the discount formula for your specific plan and phone count. A two- or three-phone account is evaluated under the $25 account amount on listed plans; four or more phones use the $20 account amount. Keep Auto Pay and Mobile + Home if they remain eligible, because Verizon permits those combinations.
If you are a teacher or nurse
Compare the 10% mobile discount across the lines you expect to keep for the billing period. Because it applies to mobile-service charges and is limited to 12 lines, the best result depends on the account’s eligible charges and line count. Do not also register a military or student category; Verizon treats those as mutually exclusive status types.
If you are a student, first responder or employee
Complete the appropriate verification and let My Verizon show the account-specific amount. Since Verizon does not publish one amount that applies to every plan and program in its registration guidance, the displayed offer is more useful than a generic estimate.
Illustrative ceiling, not a quote
Suppose a three-phone account qualifies for the published $25 military amount and the full $10-per-line Auto Pay maximum. The arithmetic ceiling would be $55 per month before any Mobile + Home credit, but the plan must qualify for both components and the Auto Pay amount may be lower. Use this kind of calculation only after My Verizon shows the actual figures.

Why a verified discount may not appear
The plan is not eligible
All of the published amounts are plan-dependent. A valid status can be accepted while the current plan receives a different formula or no credit. Check the plan name and the applied-discount details before changing service.
The billing cycle has not closed
Military verification can take one to two billing cycles to produce a credit. Wait through that window, then compare the invoice and the account’s applied-discount view.
A conflicting status is already active
Only one status category can be active. If you previously used student, employee, teacher, nurse or first-responder verification, a new military request may not stack with it. Select the category that produces the better result for your current account and eligibility.

Teacher status may be rechecked, and all ID.me or work-email programs depend on current records. Update the verification information when your employment, enrollment or credentials change.
The account relationship is wrong for Mobile + Home
Mobile + Home requires qualifying mobile and home service. If the services are on different account relationships or one plan is outside the eligible set, the home-internet credit may not appear even when both services are billed by Verizon.
Practical checklist before you enroll
- Write down your current monthly mobile and home-internet charges.
- Count the phones on the account; military amounts use two-to-three and four-or-more phone bands on listed plans.
- Open the plan summary and record the Auto Pay amount shown for your exact plan.
- Confirm whether your home service has Wi-Fi Backup, because the published Mobile + Home credit differs.
- Choose one status category and gather the credential, ID.me information or work email it requires.
- After verification, select Existing Customers and register once for the account.
- Check Plans > Applied Discounts in My Verizon for teacher or nurse offers, and review the next invoice for other credits.
- Keep the verification confirmation and the first bill showing the credit in case the amount needs to be reviewed.
Bottom line: start with the discounts that fit your account
There is no single best Verizon discount for every existing customer. Auto Pay is the broadest first check, Mobile + Home is valuable when you already have qualifying home internet, and a verified status offer can be larger for the groups Verizon lists. Compare the account-specific plan summary, line count, status eligibility and stacking rules before switching programs. Register through the existing-customer path once, then verify the applied credit on the account and the following bill.
