Start with Mouse Sensitivity 0.30 and Mouse Aiming Sensitivity 0.40 on PC, then adjust only the aiming value in small increments. On a controller, choose the scheme that leaves dodge, block/parry, weapon swap and aim reachable without releasing movement, and set Controller Aiming Sensitivity lower than general look speed if pistol corrections feel twitchy. Turn Motion Blur off, reduce Camera Shake, keep enemy audio prominent, and favor stable frame pacing over cosmetic quality. These changes make weak points, parry cues and deliberate pistol shots easier to read without claiming there is one perfect sensitivity for every player.

The recommended starting profile

Valor Mortis separates ordinary camera movement from the sensitivity used while aiming. That distinction matters: a fast look speed helps you explore and turn during melee, while a slower aiming modifier lets you place a pistol reticle on a weak point without overshooting it. Start from the documented launch-menu values below, test them in real encounters, and change one control at a time.

Option Starting point How to tune it
Mouse Sensitivity 0.30 Keep this as your general exploration and melee-turn speed unless ordinary camera movement feels uncomfortably slow or fast.
Mouse Aiming Sensitivity 0.40 Lower it first when the reticle passes over weak points; raise it only when you cannot track a moving target quickly enough.
Controller Aiming Sensitivity Lower than general look speed Reduce it when small stick movements produce large reticle jumps. Increase it gradually if tracking takes too long.
Combat Assist Begin at a middle setting Raise it when basic melee swings regularly miss; lower it when camera snap pulls you away from a planned pistol line or makes target selection unpredictable.
Motion Blur Off Removing blur preserves the visual shape of parry cues and weak points during quick turns.
Camera Shake Reduced Use the lowest level that still gives useful impact feedback.
Field of view Widest readable setting Increase it until peripheral awareness improves, then stop if distant enemies or weak points become too small on your display.

The 0.30 and 0.40 mouse values come from a documented controls-menu view rather than a developer promise of universal accuracy. Your mouse DPI, display size, seating distance and physical desk space can make a different value better.

Mouse and keyboard: build a controllable aim loop

Keep general look speed separate from pistol corrections

Use Mouse Sensitivity for turning, scanning rooms and repositioning in melee. Use Mouse Aiming Sensitivity to control the fine movement that happens with the pistol raised. If the reticle repeatedly crosses a weak point and continues past it, lower the aiming value while leaving general sensitivity at 0.30. This preserves a usable turn speed without forcing every camera movement to become sluggish.

Change values in small, repeatable steps

  1. Play several encounters at 0.30 general sensitivity and 0.40 aiming sensitivity.
  2. Identify one failure: overshooting a weak point, failing to keep up with a moving enemy, or taking too long to turn.
  3. Change only Mouse Aiming Sensitivity by a small increment when the problem occurs while aiming. Change Mouse Sensitivity only when the problem exists during ordinary movement.
  4. Repeat the same type of shot or target before making another change. A setting that feels faster in a menu can still be less accurate under pressure.

Do not chase a number copied from another player. A reproducible baseline is useful because it gives you a known starting point; it is not evidence that 0.40 is intrinsically correct.

Rebind actions around your movement hand

Full key rebinding lets you place block/parry, dodge and pistol or weapon access where they remain reachable while your movement keys are held. The practical goal is to avoid releasing movement to perform a defensive action or draw the pistol. Choose positions you can press without stretching, then practice the sequence of moving, stopping, aiming and parrying until the inputs are automatic.

Controller: choose the scheme that protects your defensive inputs

The game supports five fixed controller schemes and Steam lists full controller support, including Xbox, DualShock and DualSense devices. Because the schemes are fixed rather than freely remappable in the documented controls information, comfort and reach matter more than copying a mouse setting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
What to compare Prefer the scheme that… Why it matters
Dodge access Allows a dodge without removing your thumb from movement or your attention from the target. Dodging and aiming often alternate within one attack window.
Block/parry access Places block/parry on an input you can hold or tap without an awkward grip. Late defensive presses are easier when the command is physically consistent.
Aim and weapon swap Keeps aim, pistol access and weapon swap distinct and easy to identify. Accidental swaps waste scarce ammunition and openings.
Stick response Lets you make small corrections without fighting the other stick. Fine reticle placement is more important than maximum turn speed.

Lower Controller Aiming Sensitivity relative to general look speed when the reticle feels twitchy. If you cannot follow a target that crosses the screen, raise it one step at a time. Test while standing still and while strafing; a setting that feels precise at rest can become too slow when both sticks are active.

How to tune aiming sensitivity for pistol weak points

Pistol ammunition is described as scarce, so every shot should have a purpose. Treat sensitivity tuning as a way to make high-value shots repeatable, not as a race to turn faster.

  1. Pick a visible target. Use an enemy with a clear weak point or a predictable attack opening.
  2. Center without firing. Raise the pistol, place the reticle on the weak point, and watch whether your hand naturally settles or oscillates around it.
  3. Diagnose the error. Passing beyond the point indicates excessive aiming sensitivity; arriving late indicates insufficient sensitivity; shaking around the point can also come from gripping the mouse or stick too tightly.
  4. Adjust the aiming modifier only. Make a small change, then repeat the same approach. Avoid changing general look speed at the same time.
  5. Confirm under pressure. Test against an enemy that attacks, moves or forces a dodge. Keep the value only if you can still place a shot after movement.

There is no published accuracy percentage or controlled test establishing a universal best value. Your final setting should be the one that lets you stop the reticle on the intended point while preserving enough speed to respond to the encounter.

Combat Assist: tune camera snap, not pistol accuracy

Combat Assist controls how strongly the camera snaps toward an enemy during a basic melee attack. It does not directly increase pistol damage or guarantee a weak-point hit. That distinction prevents a common mistake: raising the option to solve a firearm-aim problem.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Combat Assist level Useful when Potential drawback
Higher Your basic melee attacks regularly whiff because the target moves just outside your facing direction. A strong snap can pull the camera away from a deliberate pistol line or make target selection feel unpredictable in groups.
Lower You want direct control of the camera, especially when lining up a weak point after a dodge. You must turn toward melee targets yourself, so missed swings may remain your responsibility.
Middle You alternate between melee tracking and deliberate ranged shots. You may still need a final adjustment after seeing how the current patch handles target selection.

Start in the middle, then raise it if melee connection is the recurring problem. Lower it if the camera repeatedly leaves the line you intentionally set up for a pistol shot. This is a practical tuning recommendation based on the documented behavior, not a developer-prescribed value.

Make parries and pistol weak points easier to read

Remove motion that competes with the cue

Turn Motion Blur off. Blur can smear a brief attack indication or the outline of a weak point while you turn. Reduce Camera Shake until impacts remain informative without moving the entire image enough to hide the next cue.

Use field of view as a readability trade-off

Field of view is adjustable. Increase it toward the widest setting that keeps distant targets readable on your monitor or television. A wider view improves peripheral awareness, but an excessively wide image can make small weak points harder to distinguish. Stop increasing it when recognition becomes slower, even if the broader view feels more dramatic.

Keep enemy audio prominent

Audio can provide timing information when an enemy is outside the center of the screen. Keep enemy sounds prominent enough to support parry preparation, especially after increasing field of view or reducing visual effects. Do not let music or interface sounds mask the attack cue you rely on.

Use the pistol as a deliberate resource

The progression moves from a sabre to a pistol and later supernatural abilities, while the indexed game description warns that pistol ammunition is scarce. The pistol therefore works best as a tool for a weak point, stagger or interrupt rather than a continuously fired primary weapon.

  • Fatigue Killer with Ergonomic Design - Solid frame with a streamlined and general claw-grip design offers a satisfying and comfortable gaming experience with less fatigue even though after hours of use.

Before the shot

  • Choose the target whose weak point or stagger changes the encounter most.
  • Wait for a clear opening instead of firing while the enemy is turning or your camera is shaking.
  • Settle the reticle briefly; a rushed shot that misses the weak point spends ammunition without creating the desired advantage.

After the shot

  • Use the stagger or interrupt to reposition, recover or begin a melee sequence.
  • Return to the sabre when a shot would only add damage without changing the enemy’s behavior.
  • Preserve ammunition for targets where a weak-point hit prevents a dangerous attack or opens a reliable punish window.

Holding the pistol constantly can encourage low-value shots and make camera control harder. Draw it for a specific purpose, fire during the opening, then return to movement and defense.

Performance settings for consistent reactions

Reaction-heavy combat benefits more from consistent frame times than from a higher decorative preset that produces intermittent stutter. Steam’s 2026 listing specifies 16 GB of RAM for both minimum and recommended configurations, 60 GB of storage, an SSD requirement and DirectX 12. It also lists minimum and recommended CPU and GPU tiers; the specific models are not stated in the available information, so use the current Steam page for the exact hardware table.

Requirement or observation What it means for setup
Operating API DirectX 12 is listed; keep your graphics driver and operating-system support current for that API.
Memory 16 GB RAM is listed for both minimum and recommended configurations.
Storage 60 GB and an SSD are listed. Installing on an SSD is a requirement, not merely an optional loading-time upgrade.
CPU/GPU Steam provides minimum and recommended tiers. Match the current listing rather than assuming a preset guarantees a frame rate.
Observed example TechRadar’s 2026 reviewer reported maintaining a comfortable 100+ FPS at 1440p on that review PC after settings tweaks. This is one dated system-specific result, not a universal target.

Prioritize frame-time stability

  1. Start with a preset your hardware can sustain without frequent spikes.
  2. Reduce expensive decorative options when camera movement feels uneven, even if the average FPS counter looks high.
  3. Keep Motion Blur off and Camera Shake reduced for clarity.
  4. Test a busy fight, not only an empty corridor, before deciding that a preset is stable.

A steady 60 FPS can be easier to aim with than a highly variable higher average. If your system comfortably exceeds your display refresh rate, a suitable frame-rate cap can also reduce swings, but the correct cap depends on your monitor and hardware.

Three practical starting profiles

Profile Controls Best for First change if it fails
Mouse precision Mouse 0.30; aiming 0.40; Combat Assist middle; Motion Blur off; reduced Camera Shake. Players who want a stable baseline for weak-point shots. Lower aiming sensitivity if the reticle overshoots.
Mouse melee emphasis Mouse 0.30 or slightly higher; aiming below 0.40; Combat Assist higher. Players whose main issue is missed basic melee attacks. Lower Combat Assist if camera snap disrupts pistol lines.
Controller control Comfortable fixed scheme; general look faster than Controller Aiming Sensitivity; Motion Blur off; reduced Camera Shake. Players who prefer analog movement and reachable defensive inputs. Lower aiming sensitivity for twitchy corrections or raise it for slow tracking.

These are starting profiles, not locked builds. Keep the profile long enough to identify a consistent problem, then change the single setting that addresses it.

Troubleshooting common aiming problems

Symptom Likely cause Adjustment
You pass over weak points repeatedly. Aiming sensitivity is too high for your hand or stick range. Lower Mouse Aiming Sensitivity or Controller Aiming Sensitivity; leave general look speed unchanged.
You cannot follow a target after it moves. Aiming sensitivity is too low or your field of view is overly narrow. Raise the aiming modifier slightly, then verify distant readability after widening FOV.
Melee camera jumps away from a planned shot. Combat Assist is snapping toward a melee target. Lower Combat Assist and retest target selection.
Basic melee swings miss at close range. Insufficient camera assistance or late facing correction. Raise Combat Assist incrementally, or turn manually before the swing.
Parry cues disappear during attacks. Motion Blur or Camera Shake is obscuring the image. Turn Motion Blur off and reduce Camera Shake; keep enemy audio prominent.
Aim feels different from one fight to the next. Uneven frame pacing or a background performance spike. Lower decorative quality until demanding encounters remain consistent; verify the game is installed on an SSD.
Controller inputs feel awkward. The selected fixed scheme places defense, aim or swap where your grip cannot reach reliably. Try another of the five schemes before changing sensitivity.

Platform, version and menu-label caveats

Valor Mortis launched on October 13, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Steam posted a first update on October 16, 2026. Later patches can change menu labels, defaults or performance behavior, and a third-party controls page may describe a particular build. Check the exact wording in your current Controls or Settings menu before applying a value from an older guide.

Steam confirms full controller support, with Xbox, DualShock and DualSense devices listed. The documented mouse values and the five fixed controller schemes are useful reference points, but they should not be treated as promises that every platform exposes identical labels or defaults.

A concise tuning routine before a difficult fight

  1. Confirm Motion Blur is off, Camera Shake is reduced and enemy audio is audible.
  2. Verify your chosen mouse or controller layout lets you move, dodge, block/parry, aim and swap weapons without an awkward release.
  3. Begin with Mouse 0.30 and aiming 0.40, or with general controller look speed above the controller aiming value.
  4. Check one weak-point shot without firing, then repeat while moving.
  5. Adjust only the aiming modifier if the reticle is too fast or too slow.
  6. Use Combat Assist to solve melee target acquisition, not pistol precision.
  7. Lower graphics options when frame pacing breaks your timing, and retest in a demanding encounter.

The result should be a setup in which the camera turns quickly enough for exploration and melee, the pistol stops on deliberate targets, and defensive cues remain visible and audible. That balance is more valuable than any isolated sensitivity number.
