The best V Rising server host in 2026 depends first on your platform and rules, not on a slot number. For a private PS5 server, Stunlock Studios’ December 1, 2025 FAQ names PocketHost and G-Portal as the supported providers at that time. For PC, those services and other hosts can be compared on administration, CPU allocation, backups, regions, mod handling, renewal cost, and wipe controls. Stunlock also documents a no-rental option: install and run its Dedicated Server application yourself. Use the framework below to choose a suitable service for your group rather than treating any provider as a universal winner.
What “best” means for a V Rising server
A V Rising server is the persistent world in which your clan builds castles, progresses through bosses, and sets the rules for PvE or PvP. Hosting determines who keeps that world online, how much control you have over it, and how easily you can recover it after an error or planned reset. It does not make an unsuitable ruleset suitable: a ten-slot PvP server with frequent raids has different needs from a private four-player PvE world that is online only on weekends.

Choose in this order:
- Platform: establish whether every player is on PC or PS5. Stunlock’s PS5 FAQ named PocketHost and G-Portal for private PS5 hosting as of December 1, 2025. The FAQ does not establish cross-play, so verify mixed-platform play directly before paying.
- Rules and season: decide PvE or PvP, raid availability and times, clan limits, resource rates, access/password rules, castle-decay behavior, moderation requirements, and how often you want to wipe.
- Peak population and resources: estimate the number of players online at the same time. Compare that load with the host’s disclosed CPU or resource allocation; slots alone are not a performance test.
- Administration: check for settings-file access, logs, admin commands, restart and update controls, and permission management for co-admins.

Stunlock says the goal of official servers is “to provide a stable V Rising experience.” Stability still depends on the selected region, configuration, population and provider operation; the statement is not a comparative uptime guarantee.

The table separates official compatibility statements from provider or comparison-page offers. None of the sources supplied a controlled, cross-provider benchmark, latency test, uptime measurement or independent performance winner.

Stunlock’s “How to Host a Server” guide, updated November 27, 2024, specifically explains renting and managing a server through PocketHost. The documented management functions include viewing server status, changing basic settings, reading logs and configuration files, restarting and updating the server, and granting other users permissions.
Why those controls matter
- Status and logs let an administrator distinguish an offline process from a connection or configuration problem.
- Configuration-file access is useful when the in-panel controls do not expose a rule your season requires.
- Restart and update controls reduce the need to maintain a separate machine for routine administration.
- Permissions let trusted co-admins help without sharing the owner’s credentials.
That documentation makes PocketHost a sensible first investigation for a buyer prioritizing managed administration, including a PS5 buyer covered by the dated official FAQ. It does not prove lower latency, higher uptime or better value than every alternative. Check backup retention, restore downloads, region selection, current pricing and mod policy before purchase.
G-Portal: an officially named PS5 alternative
G-Portal appears in Stunlock’s December 1, 2025 PS5 FAQ as a private-hosting provider. That official inclusion answers the basic “can I investigate this for a private PS5 server?” question for the FAQ’s publication date. It does not answer whether a particular plan supports your desired player count, region, cross-play arrangement, mod set or wipe schedule.
Questions to answer on the current product page
- Is the selected product still available for PS5 in your country?
- Which regions are offered, and where will most players connect from?
- Can you edit the settings required for your PvE/PvP and raid rules?
- What backups are made, how long are they retained, and can you download them?
- What is the recurring price after any introductory term?
How to compare capacity, CPU and resource claims
A slot count tells you how many concurrent connections a plan advertises. It does not reveal how the server behaves during a raid, a busy castle area or a save operation. Compare the slot ceiling with the host’s disclosed CPU priority or allocation and your expected peak activity.

Supercraft’s September 2, 2026 page is an example of a host exposing 8-, 16- and 32-slot tiers with corresponding CPU-priority levels. Record the exact level shown on the current offer; the reviewed page does not provide a controlled benchmark that converts those labels into player counts or latency.
Ruleset, wipes and backups: decide before you rent
Write the ruleset first
Document PvE or PvP, raid windows, clan size, resource and crafting rates, castle limits, password or public access, and moderation responsibilities. This prevents a cheap plan from becoming a poor fit simply because its default settings conflict with your season.
Separate a seasonal reset from a safety backup
Stunlock’s PS5 FAQ explains that a reset clears land held by inactive users and provides a fresh experience; it also states that a reset deletes vampires, castles and other server data. Treat that as a destructive season operation, not as a backup strategy. Before resetting, export or download a recoverable copy if the host supports it, and confirm how restoration works.
Questions for every provider
- How often are automatic backups created?
- How many backup generations are retained?
- Can an administrator download a save independently of the host?
- Can a specific backup be restored without wiping unrelated settings?
- What happens to backups when a subscription is cancelled or expires?
- Is a manual pre-wipe backup available?
Billing and offer details to verify
The dated comparison figures are useful anchors, not promises of today’s price. NitroServ was listed from €12.99 per month for 10 players and Minestrator from €13.99 per month for 8 players in a comparison published August 27, 2026. “From” pricing may refer to a particular billing term, region or entry configuration. Confirm the complete checkout total, taxes, renewal rate, add-ons, currency, cancellation deadline and refund terms.

Supercraft’s page, reviewed September 2, 2026, described three slot tiers and four regions but did not turn those details into an independent value or performance ranking. PocketHost and G-Portal are officially named candidates for PS5, yet the available official statements do not provide a provider-by-provider price table. Compare current product pages on equal terms: same slot count, same billing period, same region and the same backup or support options.
Mods and version management
V Rising updates can change the compatibility of community BepInEx mods. Ask whether the host permits the current mod loader, how files are uploaded, whether administrators can pin or roll back a server version, and what happens when the game client updates first. Never assume that a host’s generic “mod support” label means every mod works on every plan or console.

For a mostly vanilla season, prioritize reliable update controls and a documented restore process. For a modded PC season, keep a written list of exact mod versions, configuration files and load order, and make a backup before each update. PS5 hosting should be treated separately because PC mod workflows may not apply to the console edition.
Self-hosting with Stunlock’s Dedicated Server application
Renting is optional. Stunlock’s official guide says the V Rising Dedicated Server application is available in Steam’s Tools section. Self-hosting can reduce recurring fees and provide direct machine access, but you become responsible for the process, network exposure, storage, updates, saves and troubleshooting.
Official installation flow
- Open Steam and switch the library filter to Tools.
- Install the V Rising Dedicated Server application.
- Do not expect the Steam library entry itself to start the server. Stunlock says launching that entry opens detailed GitHub instructions instead.
- Follow those current GitHub instructions and start the server executable from its installation directory.
- Launch once with the default settings, then stop the process cleanly before editing configuration.
- Set the server name, access rules and gameplay settings using the documented configuration files.
- Allow the process through the host machine’s firewall and router only as required, and protect any administrative interface.
- Start the server, wait for initialization, and connect by server name or external IP.
- Allow several minutes for a newly launched server to appear in the in-game server list; direct connection can be useful while the listing propagates.
- Back up saves and configuration files before updates or major ruleset changes.
Stunlock’s guide says a new server starts with default game settings. The exact file names and commands can change, so use the linked official GitHub instructions for the current release rather than copying an old command from a forum.
Network details from the community reference
A community-maintained V Rising Wiki lists UDP 9876 for game traffic and UDP 9877 for the Steam query service; it also notes TCP use for RCON on the game port. These are secondary-source technical details, not a substitute for the current official instructions. Verify ports, firewall rules and RCON behavior against Stunlock’s GitHub documentation and your installed server version before exposing the machine to the internet.
Self-hosting maintenance checklist
- Run the server under a dedicated operating-system account with only required permissions.
- Keep the executable, saves and configuration on storage covered by a tested backup.
- Preserve your custom settings outside example files that an update may overwrite.
- Schedule updates during a quiet period and announce restarts to players.
- Monitor disk space, process status and logs.
- Test restoring a copy before the season depends on it.
Choosing by player scenario
Private PS5 PvE group
Start with PocketHost and G-Portal because Stunlock’s December 1, 2025 FAQ names both for private PS5 hosting. Pick the provider that confirms your region, desired settings, backup/restore process and renewal terms. Do not infer cross-play from the PS5 listing.
PC group wanting managed administration
Compare PocketHost with current PC offers from other providers on settings access, logs, permissions, restart/update controls, CPU allocation and backups. A managed panel is valuable when no player wants to maintain a machine.

Small, price-sensitive PC group
Use the dated NitroServ €12.99/10-player and Minestrator €13.99/8-player figures only as comparison anchors. Recalculate the current recurring total and check whether the cheapest tier includes the region, backups and controls you actually need.
Public or raid-heavy community
Prioritize moderation tools, admin permissions, logs, predictable CPU resources, a nearby region and a documented restore path. A larger slot number without disclosed resources is not evidence that the server will handle peak activity.
Modded PC season
Confirm current BepInEx and mod-version support, file access and rollback options before ordering. Plan for client/server version changes and keep your own copy of the configuration and save.
Technical player with an always-on machine
Evaluate self-hosting through Stunlock’s Dedicated Server application. It offers direct control, but the operator must handle networking, process supervision, updates, security, backups and recovery.
