Amazon Business is the broadest Udaan alternative for mixed-category procurement in India. Jumbotail is the better specialist for grocery and kirana supply, METRO suits retailers buying wholesale goods for resale, and Moglix is the strongest fit for industrial, tools and MRO purchasing. The right choice depends on what you buy, in what lot size, where you need delivery, and which controls your business requires for GST invoices, credit, returns and supplier risk.

Udaan’s buyer proposition is a useful baseline: its buyer page says businesses can source thousands of products from wholesale and manufacturing centres, order smaller lots, access bulk pricing, inspect seller credentials, use escrow protection, see tax, logistics and product pricing, receive doorstep delivery, and seek full or partial refunds for eligible problems. The alternatives below are assessed against those practical needs rather than a universal “best” ranking.

Quick comparison: which Udaan alternative fits your business?

Platform Best fit Notable published scope or feature Questions to verify before ordering
Amazon Business India Mixed-category business procurement Business pricing, bulk discounts, GST invoices, procurement analytics and fulfilment support. Its 2026 homepage states 15+ crore products with GST Invoice, 3.5+ lakh sellers and 99.8% of Indian pincodes covered. Account eligibility, seller quality, pincode delivery, minimum quantities, current price and return terms.
Jumbotail Kirana stores, supermarkets and grocery brands Food and grocery marketplace with sourcing and quality-control services, supply-chain and logistics operations, payment solutions and working-capital credit through lending partners. City coverage, assortment, delivery economics, credit eligibility and product-level availability.
METRO Retailers and resellers buying for further sale Its wholesale terms describe purchases for further sale, with a B2B wholesale operating model. Customer eligibility, membership or access rules, local assortment, delivery radius and current operating arrangements.
Moglix Industrial, tools, safety, construction and MRO Supplier materials describe a B2B marketplace covering more than 70 product categories, with logistics support, payment terms and visibility to procurement managers. Stock, lead time, delivered price, returns, warranty and account-specific payment terms.

No standardized, location-controlled comparison of current prices, delivery speeds or market share establishes one platform as universally cheapest or fastest. Treat every quoted figure as a platform-published claim, and test the exact products and pincode that matter to your business.

What to compare with Udaan’s buyer model

Wholesale marketplaces can look similar while imposing very different buying conditions. Compare the following dimensions for the specific categories and order values you handle.

Category and assortment depth

A platform may be excellent for packaged staples but weak for electrical spares, or broad in catalogues but inconsistent in a particular city. List your ten to twenty most frequently purchased SKUs, including brand, pack size, grade and tax classification. Search those exact specifications on each candidate platform instead of judging from the home-page category list.

Lot size and order economics

Udaan explicitly promotes smaller lots and sample orders to reduce dumping risk. An alternative may show a low unit price only when you buy a full case, pallet or minimum order value. Calculate the delivered cost at the quantity you can realistically sell or consume:

  • Item price after business or bulk discount.
  • GST and any other taxes shown at checkout.
  • Delivery, handling or remote-area charges.
  • Minimum-order or case-pack constraints.
  • Expected wastage, expiry and damage.
  • Financing or credit cost when payment is deferred.

For fast-moving grocery, a larger lot can lower unit cost but increase expiry and working-capital risk. For industrial supplies, buying a case may be sensible if the item is non-perishable and standardised. Record the quantity assumption beside every price comparison.

Supplier trust, payment protection and disputes

Check whether the marketplace identifies the seller, displays business credentials, issues a valid GST invoice and explains the dispute timeline. Udaan’s stated baseline includes seller-credential visibility, escrow protection and refunds for eligible issues. Alternatives may use different combinations of marketplace policies, seller-level returns and payment workflows. Read the rule that applies to the exact seller and product, particularly for damaged, short-shipped, counterfeit, substituted or non-conforming goods.

Delivery reach and reliability

National coverage claims do not guarantee that every seller delivers to every pincode. Confirm serviceability with your delivery address, then check the promised window, cut-off time, partial-shipment policy and cancellation rules. A cheaper item that arrives after a stock-out can cost more than a slightly dearer local source.

Business controls

Growing teams often need more than a product catalogue. Compare GST invoice fields, downloadable tax documents, multiple user roles, approval workflows, spend reports, purchase history, credit limits and reconciliation exports. These controls reduce manual work and make procurement auditable.

1. Amazon Business India: the broadest cross-category option

Amazon Business positions itself as a B2B wholesale marketplace offering business pricing, bulk discounts, GST invoices, procurement analytics and fulfilment support. Its homepage, reviewed in 2026, publishes three scale figures: “15+ crore products with GST Invoice,” “3.5+ lakh sellers from all over India,” and “99.8% pincodes in India covered.” Those are the company’s own current-page figures, not an independent market audit, so check the live values when you create an account.

What you can buy

The stated range includes IT products, office supplies, cleaning supplies, industrial and MRO goods, pantry products and hospitality supplies. That breadth makes the service useful when one organisation wants to consolidate many recurring purchases rather than open separate specialist accounts.

Why businesses choose it

  • One account for varied spend: office consumables, technology accessories, cleaning stock and selected industrial items can be managed in the same procurement environment.
  • Tax documentation: GST-invoice availability is a central proposition, but verify that the particular seller and listing provide the fields your accountant needs.
  • Bulk purchasing tools: business pricing and quantity discounts can improve economics when the minimum quantity matches your turnover.
  • Procurement visibility: analytics and fulfilment support may help teams monitor spend and delivery rather than relying on informal orders.

Risks and checks

A broad marketplace contains many seller-specific experiences. Before approving a supplier, inspect seller ratings and credentials, product specifications, warranty language, dispatch location and return exclusions. Enter your exact pincode to verify delivery and charges. Compare the full landed cost with a specialist distributor; a headline discount may disappear after shipping, taxes or a required case quantity. Also confirm account eligibility and the current policy for business returns, especially for opened electronics, customised goods and consumables.

Best use case

Choose Amazon Business first when your purchase list spans several unrelated categories and your priority is centralised ordering with GST records. It is less compelling when you need a tightly managed grocery assortment, a resale-focused wholesale membership or technical advice on industrial equipment.

2. Jumbotail: a grocery and kirana specialist

Jumbotail describes itself as “India’s leading B2B Marketplace and New Retail Platform for food and grocery.” Its stated model connects thousands of small grocery retailers and supermarkets with brands and staples producers. The company also describes sourcing and quality-control services, full-stack supply-chain and logistics operations, payment solutions and working-capital credit through lending partners.

Who benefits most

Kirana stores, supermarkets and grocery brands are the natural audience. A specialist marketplace can organise staples, packaged foods, personal-care products and home-care products around the replenishment patterns of a retail shop rather than treating them as incidental categories in a general catalogue.

Operational advantages to look for

  • Assortment built for resale: check whether the brands, pack sizes and regional products your customers request are available consistently.
  • Quality and sourcing support: understand how quality checks apply to fresh, packaged and private-label items, and what evidence is supplied when a shipment is disputed.
  • Integrated logistics: compare delivery frequency, cut-off times, minimum order values and the treatment of out-of-stock lines.
  • Payment options: lending-partner credit can help cash flow, but eligibility, limit, fees and repayment dates are buyer-specific.

Location and credit caveats

Availability is not automatically national or uniform. Enter the store’s city and delivery address, then confirm the live assortment and delivery economics. Credit is not guaranteed merely because the platform describes a lending service; review approval criteria, total cost, security requirements and the consequence of a late payment. For a new store, start with a measured order of predictable, non-perishable SKUs before relying on a larger credit-backed purchase.

Best use case

Jumbotail is the strongest candidate when grocery replenishment is the core job and local assortment, delivery cadence and resale pack sizes matter more than a one-stop catalogue across office and industrial categories.

3. METRO: wholesale purchasing for resale

METRO’s terms describe its B2B Wholesale Shopping platform as a channel where users purchase products “for further sale.” Its corporate positioning is centred on B2B wholesale customers, which distinguishes it from a general marketplace primarily designed for end-user shopping.

Why the resale model matters

Retailers buying for resale need predictable case sizes, trade-oriented pricing, tax paperwork and a replenishment process that fits a shop or food-service operation. A wholesale model can be attractive when you prefer a clearly defined business-customer relationship and are prepared to meet its access requirements.

Eligibility and access questions

Do not assume that any business can immediately order. Confirm the documents required to open an account, whether membership or customer registration applies, and whether your business type qualifies for the products and prices displayed. Store, app and delivery availability may differ by location. Ask whether the listed price is for pickup, delivery or a particular customer tier.

Local economics

METRO’s value depends heavily on the nearest operating location and its delivery radius. Compare the delivered cost with the cost of sending staff to a store, including travel time, loading, spoilage and the risk that a key SKU is unavailable. Check how substitutions, short shipments and returns are handled for resale inventory, where a damaged carton can affect multiple customer units.

Best use case

Consider METRO when your business is a retailer or reseller that wants a wholesale-first operating model and can satisfy local customer requirements. It is not automatically the best option for a remote buyer, a small trial order or a mixed procurement list dominated by office and industrial supplies.

4. Moglix: industrial, tools and MRO procurement

Moglix’s supplier portal describes it as a leading B2B marketplace with a catalogue spanning more than 70 product categories. It advertises logistics support, payment terms and visibility to customers and procurement managers. The category breadth is oriented toward industrial consumables, tools, safety equipment, maintenance, construction and related business supplies.

Where it can outperform a general marketplace

Industrial purchasing often depends on exact specifications rather than a familiar consumer brand: voltage, dimensions, material grade, tolerance, certification, thread type, protection rating and compatibility with existing equipment. A specialist catalogue can make it easier to search by these attributes and consolidate recurring MRO requirements.

How to validate a technical order

  1. Write a specification sheet before searching, including part number, dimensions, grade, standard, quantity and acceptable alternatives.
  2. Open the full listing and confirm the manufacturer, model, unit of measure, pack quantity, warranty and certification information.
  3. Ask the seller to confirm stock and dispatch date for critical parts; a catalogue listing alone is not a guaranteed lead time.
  4. Calculate landed cost, including freight, taxes, installation or calibration requirements and any hazardous-material handling.
  5. Record the return window and exclusions. Custom-cut, safety-critical or installed items may have stricter return conditions.

Supplier-claim limitation

The more-than-70-category figure and the logistics and payment statements come from supplier-facing material. They do not establish a universal buyer price, service level or delivery time. Verify the actual seller, inventory location, lead time, warranty process and account-specific payment terms for every purchase order.

Best use case

Moglix is the most natural starting point when the majority of spend is industrial, construction, safety, tools or maintenance-related and your team can evaluate technical conformity. A grocery-led retailer or an office-only buyer may find its catalogue unnecessarily specialised.

How to choose: a practical decision framework

Step 1: classify the procurement job

  • Mixed business supplies: start with Amazon Business.
  • Food, grocery and kirana replenishment: start with Jumbotail.
  • Wholesale goods bought explicitly for resale: evaluate METRO.
  • Industrial and MRO requirements: start with Moglix.

If your company has two materially different buying jobs, use two specialists rather than forcing every category through one account.

Step 2: build a like-for-like basket

Select representative SKUs: fast-moving, high-value, bulky and technically sensitive items. Keep brand, size, grade, pack count and quantity identical. Request or record prices on the same date, because marketplace inventory and promotions change.

Step 3: calculate total landed cost

Use a spreadsheet with columns for item price, discount, GST, freight, minimum-order effect, credit cost, expected wastage and return cost. For resale, add the margin you need after shrinkage and expiry. For MRO, add the cost of downtime if a late or incorrect part delays production.

Step 4: test a controlled first order

  1. Verify business registration and GST details on the account.
  2. Place a small order containing both easy-to-check and high-priority items.
  3. Photograph cartons and labels at delivery, then reconcile quantity, batch, condition and invoice.
  4. Test the support and dispute process with any genuine discrepancy.
  5. Only then increase order value or use credit.

Step 5: score the result

Score each platform from one to five for category fit, delivered cost, stock reliability, delivery performance, invoice quality, returns, payment protection and business controls. Weight the factors that affect your operation most. A grocery store might weight availability and delivery cadence above analytics; an engineering plant might weight specification accuracy and lead time above promotional discounts.

Buying safely: common failure modes and fixes

The advertised price is not the delivered price

Symptom: the unit price looks lower, but freight, GST, case quantity or a minimum order changes the total. Fix: compare the same delivered quantity and preserve the checkout screenshot or quotation date in your purchase record.

The listing is available but not serviceable

Symptom: a product appears in search, then cannot ship to your address or shows a long, uncertain window. Fix: set the exact pincode before comparing and maintain a backup supplier for critical SKUs.

A marketplace listing does not prove technical conformity

Symptom: a tool, component or safety item arrives with a different specification or incomplete documentation. Fix: put the required model, grade, standard and acceptance criteria on the purchase order; obtain written confirmation for substitutions.

Credit improves cash flow but hides total cost

Symptom: deferred payment encourages a larger order than the store can sell or consume. Fix: compare the complete financing cost, set an internal credit ceiling and match repayment dates to expected cash collection.

Returns are harder after opening or using the product

Symptom: the buyer discovers that a consumable, customised item, installed part or opened electronic item has limited return eligibility. Fix: read the product-level policy before purchase, inspect on arrival and report damage or shortage within the stated window.

Documents and controls to prepare

Having the right information ready speeds onboarding and reduces invoice corrections. Prepare:

  • Legal business name, address and GST details.
  • Delivery pincodes and receiving hours for each location.
  • Approved buyer names and spending limits.
  • SKU list with preferred brands, pack sizes and acceptable substitutes.
  • Invoice requirements, including purchase-order number and tax fields.
  • Return, warranty and inspection requirements for high-value or technical items.
  • Credit policy defining who may borrow, the maximum exposure and repayment approval.

Keep order confirmation, invoice, delivery proof, photographs and support tickets together. That record is useful for GST reconciliation, supplier disputes and repeat-order accuracy.

Which alternative should you try first?

Choose Amazon Business for a broad, centralised basket where GST documentation and procurement visibility are priorities. Choose Jumbotail when grocery and kirana replenishment drives the business and local assortment and logistics are decisive. Choose METRO when you are an eligible retailer or reseller seeking a wholesale model designed for further sale. Choose Moglix when industrial, tools, safety, construction or MRO specifications dominate the order.

Use the first order as a service test, not a verdict based on a home-page claim. Verify the exact seller, quantity, pincode, invoice, delivery promise, return rule and payment cost for the basket you actually buy. That approach gives you a defensible Udaan alternative without assuming that any marketplace is cheapest or fastest everywhere in India.
