There is no single best touchscreen treadmill for every home. NordicTrack’s X24/X16 models emphasize large pivoting displays and an unusually broad advertised incline-and-decline range; ProForm’s Carbon Pro 9000 combines a 16-inch touchscreen with 12 mph speed and 0–12% incline; Peloton Tread focuses on a Full HD display that rotates 360 degrees for running and floor workouts. Your best choice depends on whether you value terrain simulation, cross-training flexibility, available floor space, and the long-term cost of a connected membership.

The specifications below come from manufacturer product pages available on October 13, 2026. They are not independent laboratory tests. Confirm the exact model, buyer country, current warranty, stock, delivery terms and membership conditions before ordering.

Touchscreen treadmill features that actually change the buying decision

A touchscreen is useful only when it supports the way you train. A larger panel can make instructor-led classes and scenic routes easier to follow, while a pivoting panel lets you continue a strength, mobility or stretching session beside the belt. Incline and decline controls determine how closely a treadmill can reproduce hills. Wi-Fi and a paid training platform can add coaching and content, but they also create an ongoing ownership cost.

Before comparing brands, define four requirements:

  • Training type: steady walking, interval running, hill work, or a mix of treadmill and floor sessions.
  • Performance range: required top speed, incline, and—if downhill training matters—decline.
  • Room constraints: the machine’s operating footprint, folded or stored position, ceiling height, and the clearance required by the manual.
  • Connected use: whether you will pay for a membership, use Wi-Fi reliably, or need a useful manual mode when offline.

These checks prevent a common mistake: choosing a screen first and discovering later that the deck, terrain range, subscription requirement or installation plan does not fit your routine.

NordicTrack X24 and X16: the choice for screen size and steep terrain

What the published specifications say

NordicTrack lists two X Series configurations: the X24 with a 24-inch HD pivot display and the X16 with a 16-inch HD pivot display. Both are listed with speeds up to 12 mph. The advertised terrain range reaches 40% incline and -6% decline, a substantially wider range than the 0–12% incline listed for the ProForm Carbon Pro 9000.

A pivot display is useful when a workout moves away from the belt. You can turn the screen toward the room for floor-based instruction instead of trying to view a forward-facing panel from the side. The 24-inch version offers the larger viewing area; the X16 retains the pivot concept in a smaller format.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Who should consider an X24 or X16

  • Hill-training runners: the advertised 40% incline and -6% decline provide more terrain variation than the other cited specifications.
  • Users who prefer a large class view: the X24’s 24-inch panel is the biggest display in this comparison.
  • Households sharing one room: pivoting can make the treadmill more useful for strength or mobility sessions, provided the room has the required clearance.

Trade-offs to check before purchase

The maximum terrain numbers do not tell you the machine’s full dimensions, deck size, noise, user-weight rating, folding method or service experience. Obtain those details for the exact X24 or X16 configuration. A large display and heavy incline mechanism may affect where the treadmill can be installed and how it can be moved; do not assume a model will fit through a doorway or operate safely under a low ceiling without checking its documentation.

NordicTrack states that paid iFIT access and Wi-Fi are required for full content and features on the cited X Series material. Ask which controls and workouts remain available without membership, whether a trial converts to a paid plan, and how the treadmill behaves if the internet connection is unavailable.

ProForm Carbon Pro 9000: a 16-inch connected option with 12% incline

Published capabilities

The Carbon Pro 9000 is listed with a 16-inch touchscreen, speeds up to 12 mph, and a 0–12% incline range. That combination covers walking, jogging and many interval sessions while keeping the advertised incline range straightforward to compare.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

ProForm positions the Carbon Pro 9000 within a compact-series design. “Compact” should not be treated as a universal room-size guarantee: verify the machine’s operating length and width, folded dimensions if applicable, ceiling clearance at maximum incline, and the space needed to access the safety key and step-off areas.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best fit

  • General home running: the 12 mph ceiling matches the advertised top speed of the NordicTrack examples.
  • Users who want guided sessions: the 16-inch panel is large enough for instructor content while taking less visual space than a 24-inch display.
  • Buyers whose workouts do not require decline: the cited specification lists incline from 0% to 12%; no decline range is established in the supplied product material.

Membership and model verification

ProForm states that paid iFIT access and Wi-Fi are required for full content and features on the cited Pro Series information. Clarify the non-membership experience before buying. Also check whether the exact regional model has the same screen, motor, deck, warranty and folding specifications as the page you viewed; product names can cover different configurations or change over time.

Peloton Tread: a display built for running and floor workouts

What distinguishes the design

Peloton describes the Tread as having a Full HD touchscreen that moves through 360 degrees. This movement is the defining feature in the cited material: the panel can face the belt for running and turn toward the room for floor-based classes. The listed footprint is 6 by 3 feet, but you still need the complete operating and clearance dimensions from the current manual.

Peloton’s page does not establish a comparable top speed or incline-and-decline range in the supplied specifications. If you train for fast intervals, steep hills or downhill simulation, obtain those numbers directly for the exact Tread version rather than inferring them from the screen or footprint.

Warranty terms published for the Tread

Peloton lists a 12-month limited warranty, a 3-year guarantee for the belt and motor, and a 5-year guarantee for the frame. These periods cover different components, so they cannot be reduced to one generic “five-year warranty.” Read the exclusions, labor coverage, territory and claims process, especially if you are buying used or moving the treadmill.

Connected ecosystem questions

Confirm the current Peloton membership requirement, the classes and controls available without membership, and whether your preferred account can be used by every household member. The Peloton page notes integrations with Apple Health, Garmin Connect and Fitbit as of January 2026; verify that those integrations and permissions still match your devices and region.

Screen size and movement: which matters more?

When a larger screen helps

A 24-inch panel provides more room for instructor demonstrations, metrics and route visuals than a 16-inch panel. It can be easier to read at a distance or when several people are watching, but it may also increase the machine’s visual presence and affect placement. Screen size alone does not indicate resolution, brightness, touch responsiveness or software support, so request those details if they matter to you.

When rotation is the deciding feature

Both NordicTrack X Series displays are described as pivoting, and Peloton describes 360-degree movement. Rotation matters when the treadmill shares space with a mat for strength, yoga or mobility work. Measure the area around the screen’s swing path and ensure that a wall, shelf or ceiling fixture cannot block movement. If you will only run and walk, a fixed or limited-pivot panel may be sufficient.

Incline, decline and speed: match the numbers to your workouts

Use the manufacturer’s advertised ranges as screening criteria, not promises of identical performance. NordicTrack lists up to 40% incline and -6% decline for the X Series, while ProForm lists 0–12% incline for the Carbon Pro 9000. The Peloton specification supplied here does not state equivalent terrain figures.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose by workout pattern

  • Mostly flat walking or jogging: all three can remain candidates; prioritize deck comfort, controls, noise and fit.
  • Steep uphill intervals: the NordicTrack range is the only cited option reaching 40% incline, subject to exact-model confirmation.
  • Downhill simulation: the NordicTrack X Series is the only cited option with a published decline figure, -6%.
  • Fast running: NordicTrack and ProForm list up to 12 mph. Obtain the Peloton Tread’s current speed specification if it is under consideration.

Ask whether incline changes are manual or automatically controlled by a class, how quickly the deck responds, and whether the advertised maximum is available in every workout mode. Those operational details are not established by the cited pages.

Subscriptions, Wi-Fi and offline use

Connected treadmills can be purchased as hardware but still incur a recurring content cost. NordicTrack and ProForm explicitly say paid iFIT access and Wi-Fi are required for full content and features on the cited series. Peloton’s connected experience likewise depends on its current membership terms, which should be checked for your country and account type.

Questions to answer before paying

  1. What is the current monthly or annual membership price in your country?
  2. Does a new machine include a trial, and when does billing begin?
  3. Which controls work without a membership: speed, incline, decline, manual mode, metrics and saved workouts?
  4. Can the treadmill start or update without Wi-Fi?
  5. What happens to downloaded or bookmarked classes if the subscription lapses?
  6. Can multiple household profiles use one subscription, and are there regional content limits?

Do not treat a free trial or promotional period as the normal ownership cost. Retail pricing, stock, trial terms and membership prices were not verified for this comparison and can change.

Space, delivery and installation planning

Start with the complete operating footprint, not just the product dimensions shown in a listing. Measure the route from the delivery entrance to the room, including doors, stairs, turns and flooring transitions. Then mark the treadmill’s operating area and the clearance required by its manual. Include room for stepping onto the belt, using the safety key and accessing the power connection.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Checklist for a site inspection

  • Measure the room’s length, width and ceiling height.
  • Check the treadmill’s running and stored dimensions for the exact model.
  • Account for deck elevation when the incline is raised.
  • Confirm that the display can pivot without striking a wall or furniture.
  • Verify the floor can support the machine and user; follow the manual’s requirements.
  • Plan cable routing so nobody trips when entering or leaving the treadmill.
  • Ask the seller whether delivery includes room-of-choice placement, assembly, packaging removal and old-equipment removal.

A floor mat may help protect flooring and simplify cleanup, but the cited material does not establish one as mandatory or validate a particular mat’s fit. Select accessories only after checking the manufacturer’s dimensions and installation guidance.

Warranty and service: compare components, not slogans

Warranty periods are not directly interchangeable. Peloton publishes separate periods for the frame, belt and motor. NordicTrack and ProForm terms are model- and market-specific, so obtain the actual warranty document for the configuration and country in which you will buy.

Items to verify in writing

  • Coverage length for frame, motor, belt, electronics, labor and display.
  • Whether parts are shipped or a technician visits your home.
  • Who pays for labor, return shipping or service-call charges after a failure.
  • Whether commercial use, relocation or resale changes coverage.
  • How to make a claim and how long common replacement parts remain available.
  • Whether a subscription is required to diagnose or operate connected features during service.

A longer frame guarantee does not automatically mean longer protection for the motor, belt or touchscreen. Record the serial number and keep the purchase receipt and warranty terms.

How to choose the right touchscreen treadmill

  1. Set the workout requirement. Write down your normal speed, desired incline, whether decline is essential, and whether floor classes are part of the plan.
  2. Eliminate specification mismatches. Remove models that lack the speed or terrain range you actually need. For Peloton Tread, obtain missing running specifications before making that decision.
  3. Choose the display format. Select the 24-inch NordicTrack X24 for maximum viewing area, a 16-inch NordicTrack X16 or ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 for a smaller panel, or Peloton Tread if 360-degree movement is central to your training.
  4. Test the room on paper. Use exact operating, folded and clearance dimensions, including incline height and pivot movement.
  5. Calculate connected ownership. Add the membership cost for the period you expect to keep the treadmill and decide whether manual use is acceptable if you cancel.
  6. Read the component warranty. Compare motor, belt, frame, electronics and labor separately for your country.
  7. Confirm logistics. Get delivery date, assembly scope, return fees and service availability in writing before payment.

Safety and everyday use

Follow the exact treadmill manual, attach and use the safety key as directed, and keep children and pets away from the moving belt. Maintain the clear area specified by the manufacturer rather than relying on a universal number; the cited pages do not provide a common clearance standard. Keep the floor dry, secure loose clothing and stop the machine before stepping off or making adjustments.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

During setup, inspect the power connection and route cables away from walkways. If the machine is moved, recheck its level, stability and clearance before running. A new sound, belt hesitation, display error or unexplained incline movement is a reason to stop and consult the manufacturer’s service instructions.

What is and is not established by this comparison

The specifications here come from manufacturer pages, including a NordicTrack comparison page updated April 15, 2026. Manufacturer comparisons can describe their own products favorably and should not be treated as independent rankings. No hands-on testing, laboratory noise measurement, durability test, fitness-outcome study or named expert quotation was established for these models.

Retail prices, current stock, delivery charges, return fees, affiliate availability and exact membership prices were not verified. Which model makes sense for different buyers?

Choose NordicTrack X24 when

You want the largest cited display and the broadest advertised terrain range, including up to 40% incline and -6% decline, and you have room for the machine and its pivot movement. Confirm the exact X24 configuration, iFIT terms and warranty before purchase.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose NordicTrack X16 when

You want the same cited X Series terrain concept and a pivot display but prefer a 16-inch panel. Verify whether the model available in your market carries the same speed, dimensions, warranty and software features.

Choose ProForm Carbon Pro 9000 when

You need a 16-inch connected treadmill with an advertised 12 mph top speed and 0–12% incline, and that range matches your training. Confirm the compact-series dimensions, iFIT membership rules and non-membership controls.

Choose Peloton Tread when

Your priority is a Full HD touchscreen that rotates 360 degrees for running and floor-based workouts, plus the Peloton class ecosystem. Obtain the current speed and terrain specifications, membership terms and regional warranty before committing.

The practical “best” choice is the model whose verified dimensions, terrain range, display movement, offline behavior, subscription cost and component warranty all fit your home and training plan—not the treadmill with the most impressive headline specification.
